Re: Canelo v Saunders - May 8th Unification fight
get on with the god damn fight for fuck sake
-
Re: Canelo v Saunders - May 8th Unification fight
Saunders giving out Uzzy flashbacks cockwalking to the ring like that ;D. Jebus. He didn't even get a single dancer compared to ol Nelo.
-
Re: Canelo v Saunders - May 8th Unification fight
What a horrible colour scheme on the ring wear on both sides.
-
Re: Canelo v Saunders - May 8th Unification fight
Pretty awesome seeing a live crowd that deep finally. Sign of things to come once covid fecks off.
-
Re: Canelo v Saunders - May 8th Unification fight
Agreed, really good having the crowd back!
-
Re: Canelo v Saunders - May 8th Unification fight
Saunders doing some decent bluffing through but Canelo is sniffing him out. Canelo content to walk on line and load up though
-
Re: Canelo v Saunders - May 8th Unification fight
Thought 5th and 6th really sharp clean for Saunders :-X. Canelo a bit early Canelo especially last round save for final 20 seconds.
-
Re: Canelo v Saunders - May 8th Unification fight
7th Saunders :cwm13: Hustle activity and controlling real estate really.
-
Re: Canelo v Saunders - May 8th Unification fight
Rug roh now the ceiling is caving in. BJ hurt up
-
Re: Canelo v Saunders - May 8th Unification fight
Wow. They opted out. His eye may be wrecked?!
-
Re: Canelo v Saunders - May 8th Unification fight
Maybe I'm drunk again but I got alvarez up pretty good, I thi k he's landed the better stuff all fight, could still be close, these body shots are good and... The pikey quits...
-
Re: Canelo v Saunders - May 8th Unification fight
He quit whilst he was winning
-
Re: Canelo v Saunders - May 8th Unification fight
the legend grows. billy joe quit like a pussy
-
Re: Canelo v Saunders - May 8th Unification fight
what is it with us Brits having weak eyes?
-
Re: Canelo v Saunders - May 8th Unification fight
The bitch in Saunders came out
-
Re: Canelo v Saunders - May 8th Unification fight
I don't know I had it 6-2 alvarez there, Saunders had some success and good rounds but alvarez landed some really good stuff to the body and really did some damage in the 8th there. Saunders is just the wrong style for him and very good and in a big ring, that's a good win for the Mexican....

Re: Canelo v Saunders - May 8th Unification fight
And people give Brook shat. I honestly can't see Plant doing much better once it goes rounds though
-
Re: Canelo v Saunders - May 8th Unification fight
I think that's the toughest fight at 168 for alvarez he still follows guys around and gets jabbed and hit but the good movers... I don't rank alvarez as top p4p guy though, he just has a few too many flaws....

Cuz he won't. Plant doesn't have anything for Alvarez

some people will keep running down canelos opponents beforehand so they don't have to give him credit. canelo is leading the way. more fighters should follow his example

Plants top notch classy dude but honestly not near big event or seasoned as Saunders. Be interesting and has to happen before Benavidez ;D

Re: Canelo v Saunders - May 8th Unification fight
BJS down on two of the cards by 4 rounds, no point in him carrying on with the fight regardless of the eye injury lol, he wasn't winning that fight regardless.
I had it all level after the 8th

Re: Canelo v Saunders - May 8th Unification fight
Let’s see if he gets the same abuse as Dubois.

You clean sweep a division of top guys, unify it don't matter what your name is or what ugly t shirts you wear. We need more of that.

Re: Canelo v Saunders - May 8th Unification fight
Is it broken then? It must have been bad for him to quit but he's never going to win anyway going backwards in Texas.
-
Re: Canelo v Saunders - May 8th Unification fight
good cards. i only gave billy joe three rounds
-
Re: Canelo v Saunders - May 8th Unification fight
Don't think the gypsies will be too pleased with that!
Something poetic about gobshite Billy quitting on his stool there.
He was actually doing well in there until a round previous when the eye went and Canelo smelt blood.

They have to make that happen... Pay the money eddie!
I just think Saunders was as bad as it gets at this weight class for alvarez, he's always struggled with good movers and he gave the git the big ring too(apparently the biggest ring Saunders has fought it)... Alvarez showed the same strength and weaknesses as before he's just pretty good and I think too much for plant.....
I had it the same as the judges, alvarez just did more damage the whole fight... Maybe I'm a crap judge...
Plant next then onto lightheavyweight I say... Andrade is no threat.
-
Re: Canelo v Saunders - May 8th Unification fight
He won’t go to 175.
He will stay at 168 for the rest of his career and arrange suitable catch weights when needed.
I thought it would be Canelo towards the end but BJS obviously decided he had enough after one punch.
If it is broken then his career will go like Kell Brook.

May be good seeing Dazn air highlighting a couple of PBC fighters in the crowd. Mix and mingle get the promotional roadblocks moving maybe. It's the only way for Plant, stars align and such.
Missed cards but def styles mash up long as it lasted. Canelo is a one man wrecking crew once he gets you zeroed as of late. Gave Saunders just last 3 rounds until it all caught up.

Re: Canelo v Saunders - May 8th Unification fight
Saunders would have had to win 9 clear rounds to win (at least)
he was doing well, even a case to say he was up a couple, but none of the judges had him winning so whats the point in carrying on with a broken face
-
Re: Canelo v Saunders - May 8th Unification fight
I had Saunders level. He fought the fight that he was always going to fight and Canelo was clearly being given rounds on the idea that he had intentions rather than punches connected or any kind of work-rate gulf on display. I can see how you may have had Canelo up on the cards but I still don't see how you can only give BJS two rounds. If Tibbs made the decision then you can't blame the fighter for following his corners advice. Canelo is a brutal finisher and you have to respect that kind of eagerness to fight such a range of challengers, but the judging was Billy Bullshit all night long.

It it worth watching the entire fight? or just the highlights?

Re: Canelo v Saunders - May 8th Unification fight
My alarm did not work and missed the fight.
Where is Canelo getting this much power?

It is the kind of fight in which a highlight reel would be a bit pointless. Canelo is very, very good. That Saunders was able to make him miss consistently and tag him in every round was a surprise to many but Sanders lack of real spiteful power always meant it was going to be an uphill struggle. In a way it was a classic Boxer vs Fighter but despite the full stop ending it would be ridiculous to suggest the Canelo was not also a very nuanced and accomplished boxer. In fact it is hard to argue against him being the most rounded and complete fighter active at this point in the sport and the fact that Saunders managed at times to make him look ordinary is the real story of the fight.
