i guess I just saw Clinton as a bit of a pretender. To me, judging on this one fight, he looked poor and lacked power. I was screaming from round one for him to use the uppercut as Johnson was open for it. Woods only used the uppercut in one round. Johnson looked the moe acomplished fighter and Woods looked like a he was trying hard. Woods took his shots well, Ill give him that.
Woods is tall but would he have to power to hurt Calzaghe if he couldnt sting Johnson.
Well, at least Woods doesnt have to get his IBF tattoo adjusted!
I'll have a bet (sig bet, remember them?) with anyone here and say Calzaghe will beat Woods easily.

no problem mate nice to see you around ;)

Finally got around to watching the fight this afternoon, and OMG what a fight. I don't care how good Toney-Peter was, this is certainly the best fight of the weekend, and Woods avenged his previous defeats very well.
While I was surprised at Mickey Vann's scorecard, especially as he was in there near the commentators, I thought Clinton edged it, and I had it 115-113 to Woods, though quite a few of the rounds could have been ties, and gone either way.
What I was most impressed with was Woods' heart after that dreadful 9th for him. His eyes were glazed, his arms were by his side, and Johnson caught him with at least 10 big shots in that round. A few more shots and perhaps Clinton might have gone, especially with around 1 /12 minutes of the round to go, but Johnson didn't have the stamina to finish him off, and that came back to bite him.
Overall, I think Woods was superb, he put everything into it and beat the fighter who had such a big mental advantage because of the two previous results, and history will show Clinton to have beaten his bogey fighter.
Whether it's Calzaghe or RJJ next, I think Woods hasdone superbly to keep his fingers around the strap, and the critics off his back. One interesting remark from Richard Poxon, Woods' trainer as they went into that final round, was: "If you do it now you'll be the best champion that this country has."
Whether they know a clash of the titans between Calzaghe Woods is on the cards, or Poxon was just using the animosity between them as a motivating factor, it certainly seemedto do the business and bring Woods home ahead. And good on him!
This is boxing... you want wrestling... I don't care how hard what Johnson was throwing was... they weren't getting throw whilst Clinton was scoring... end of... ::**Quote:

Englands biggest promoter didn't want Woods to win... he looses a big fight for Joe C now... are you honestly telling me that Johnson was the one out to get screwed?... I can't think of a stronger case of an English promoter wanting an American fighter to win... Woods was up against far more than just johnson... Mickey Vann for one... ::**
Nicely put :coolclick:Quote:
