Tell you what...It wouldnt suprise me if Floyd came in as a Welterweight or Below 150 at least.....Floyd will want to maximize his speed and reflex advantage...Oscar will be having a hard time keeping up with Floyd
From what I can see most boxers when they move up love the idea of bulking up their muscle mass, I think Floyd's ego is know exception. If he jumps on the juice then look out Oscar!!
Now I'm not sure why most think Oscar has to try and keep up with Floyd? I know it seems like the way to beat him is to apply the pressure and cut off the ring but here is another scenario..
what if Oscar sat back behind his own jab and when Floyd came in Oscar swarmed him with hooks, rips, overhand rights and then moved back with the jab. Why must Floyd control the distance? I don't think he is quick enough to pot shot Oscar like he did Baldomir and not pay for it. ;)
Bottom line is I don't think Floyd will fight aggressive enough to win this fight and not get KTFO.
Thats a very good point :coolclick:
Oscar sat back a bit more in his second Mosley fight and showed more lateral movement. He found a bit more success because i suppose it drew his man in and made him more predictable. Also, you have to give Oscar credit for the fact that he can work the body very well in close, with those ripping hooks.
So yeah, he is capable of implementing a strategy to controll his fighter... But he, like B-Hop, cant expect sustained success in controlling his man, if your man is faster AND fitter than you.
Plus Floyd wont gas in the later rounds (Thats for the Taylor - Hopkins criticts ;D ).
Hence, the problem with sitting back is that Floyd will always have his own movement to trouble Oscar.
And lets be honest, Floyds right hand can land from just about anywhere.
Floyd throwns his right better than most boxing greats threw their jabs!
If and when Oscar sits back, expect Floyd to score points continously (ala Baldomir, Juda, Gatti, N'dou, Castillo, Corley etc... ::**)
Although... With that being said, i do agree that early on Oscar could
suprise Floyd with this tactic but i belive after a few rounds Floyd will begin to Frustrate Oscar with "the fencing thing". :jabbing:
Personally, i think an amazing punch count... Sheer numbers are needed to beat Floyd. Anything else can be adapted to.
I guess the only other way i can see Oscar winning is by greatly varying his approach. One minute dis intrested, next minute right on top of Floyd. This would be effective as far as the judges are concerned as it would give the illusion of dictating the action.
