Tucker landed an uppercut in the first, you could count on one hand how many good shots that got through to Tyson. The same period that he beat Tucker he would have beaten prime Lewis or any version of Holyfield.
i agree, imo the tyson before d'amato's death is unbeatable.
Sorry but this is just a viewpoint that baffles me. When Cus died Tyson had yet to beat even a ranked contender.
Re: Prime Mike Tyson VS Prime Vitali Klitschko...Winner?
I think like always Tyson has three rounds to win. But I think Vitali is long, strong and tough and those kinds of guys Tyson struggled with. After three rounds Tyson reverts top doing the same things over and over again and gradually Vitali asserts control and wins a decision.

That's part of the Tyson myth. Along with Tyson was past his prime against Buster Douglas.

LOL, yeah that's another one. A 24 year old, unbeaten fighter is somehow past his prime? How the hell does THAT work exaclty?
Re: Prime Mike Tyson VS Prime Vitali Klitschko...Winner?
lennox and vital imo are the 2 best HWs of all time
I voted vitali by KO

prime Tyson would have beaten Lewis and Douglas.
Vitali is too slow and robotic to even trouble Iron Mike.
so after he got KTFO'd he's no longer is his prime ? he was 24 year old , unbeaten and undisputed champion. stop making silly excuses
the losses to holyfield and douglas had nothing to do with " prime " ,more like stylistic mismatches for tyson . douglas neutralised him by kepping him away with a stiff , long jab , and when tyson managed to get inside buster clinched , moved away or hit him using his long reach and size advantage
the holyfield fight showed that tyson was very outsized , evander tied him very easily and didn't let him work inside .
i mean sure tyson beat some big guys before these two, but none of them knew how to use their size or prevent him for getting inside , not really that mike tyson was " something " extra special, but because they lacked the skill set to do so .
vitali = probably lost 5 rounds in his entiere career , never been KO'd , never been knocked down , 6'8 , 245 pounds
and lol at people saying " oh he quit against byrd hahah " shows how much you rely on boxrec to get your info , if you watched the fight you'd knew he was tearing chris a new butthole before he quit due to a freak injury
the loss to lewis was legit , but he was winning every round of that fight , and tyson can't fight the fight lewis fought against vitali due to his lack of size .
vitali by KO

Tyson liked to flurry and go to the body some and Vitali's style just doesn't fit for that kind of fight. Certain fighters gave Tyson hell, the tall fighters who can box, take a shot, and have the ability to win on points.
Vitali was a killer
He has. By Sanders in the first round. The ref didnt call it but it was a knockdown.
Watch from 6.50 in http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pNK1Z4xryZQ
Vitali wouldnt have dealt with the pressure and I dont mean just the amoun t of punches but the presure of having na man in front of him constantly, not being able to catch him and taking shots back. When Sanders pressured, Vitali looked clumsy. Sanders was finished with boxing at this point and too busy fucking around with golf to train. After the first round or 2 he was knackered and just stood there to be hit.

He lost Cus who was really the only person Mike respected and could keep Mike in line. Mike listened to Rooney and kept on doing well and Jim Jacobs was given instructions by Cus on how to handle his career after Cus,s death but then Jacobs died and King wormed his way in.
Just found this, its a good interesting read Q & A with Kevin Rooney – Chosen to Fulfill Cus D’Amato’s Prophecy! - Boxing News

He wasn't past his prime, he was just menatlly fucked, totally underprepared and reportedly taking drugs leading into that particular fight. We all know what happend after that fights, so it's reasonable to say that his best days were behind him at that point.
Re: Prime Mike Tyson VS Prime Vitali Klitschko...Winner?
Tyson had too much head and body movement. By comparison, Vitali is and was always a plodder. It would've taken more than one punch, to be sure, but eventually Tyson chops down the big tree. Those flying left hooks with the feet off the ground were fearsome. A few of those is too big a dose for any mere mortal to take.

Mike Tyson would never throw a left hook with both feet off the ground. He was a fighter with great skill and balance and that type of shot would be far too wild, raw and primitive for a man of his fine boxing ability.
Re: Prime Mike Tyson VS Prime Vitali Klitschko...Winner?
Vitali's height and especially his jab would have created big problems for Iron Mike. Early Vitali didn't know how to grab/hold which would have been a problem if Tyson could close the distance, later Vitali has seemed to figure it out. I don't see Vitali committing to the KO so I see him fighting a controlled fight jabbing, moving and tying Mike up when in close...I believe it's Vitali by decision.

Vitali is far too slow for that strategy.

I'd argue that he's not as slow as you think with an excellent chin, he's also far taller than anyone Mike Tyson ever beat....Styles make fights and this is not a good match up for Iron Mike (coming from a Tyson fan)
