Re: Inside Margaritos Hand Wraps
Truthfully though, we will never know if he used the paster in the Cotto fight. It will always be inconclusive. Hell, he could have used it in the Lujuan fight too and many others. We'll just never know for sure.

If they'd found brick-size lumps of calcium and sulphur in his wraps they'd still have to use those machines to verify what it was.
What the guy who did Margarito's wraps did was to wrap in wadded-up chunks of gauze over his knuckles and then add two chemical elements, then use gauze and tape to cover the whole concoction up. The thing that tipped Richardson off that something wasn't right was that the wrappings over the knuckles looked unnaturally large. So these three things, blocks of old gauze, calcium and sulphur were added to the wraps.
This is what sulphur looks like :

It's unlikely that this stuff just accidentally, you know, ended up in Margarito's wraps. It's even more unlikely that calcium, similar looking stuff (granular and white) would end up in there too. Especially when both those elements together form Plaster of Paris! A substance with its own unique history in boxing. Add the bricked-up chunks of gauze and the air and moisture in the glove and you have something which will form a, uh, plaster-like strip over Margarito's knuckles during the first few rounds of the fight.
There's no way you can pass this off as an unfortunate accident. This was a deliberate action to create plaster casts over Margarito's knuckles during the Mosley fight. I don't believe for a second that it's possible Margarito couldn't have known about this and his trainer obviously did. Both guys are crooks and should be banned for life from the sport.

Mr140 arguments are the perfect complement to what I've said and to be fair, I really don't get Sonny78 arguments for a small ban, neither the "accidental" thing where the trainer would have un-explicably got the wrong stuff in his bag accidentally, especially gathering the 2 substances that create Paris plaster. There is too many coincidences for me to believe that and such dangerous behaviors should result in a life ban, no matter how. Of course, that won't probably happen but that's what should happen
Re: Inside Margaritos Hand Wraps
Well Tito all i can say is this i agree that he be banned for a year. Then after his time is up he can come back do whats he wants i dont care. There is know way to prove he used it in other fights and the fight he got caught he did not use the warps so what can i say dude. I mean you look at his fights and all i was saying is how the results vary. I mean Cotto and Cintron got knocked out but Williams and Clotty did not seem very affected at all i mean if it is as deadly as people say would it not of been a different story in those fights or are we to pick and choose what fights. I mean if you dont agree with me nothing i can say but o well.
Re: Inside Margaritos Hand Wraps
a better punishment would to let shane mosley form plaster casts on his fists and repeatedly punch margarito in the nuts until he passes out.
Re: Inside Margaritos Hand Wraps
Ban for life, if he wants to come back, make him sit a lie detector test about all of his fights, his trainer and corner men too.
Re: Inside Margaritos Hand Wraps
Hey i was just wondering is the court thing over yet or still going.

Ok well as it was pointed out I may not have researched this as much as I could before I waded in but it did seem like every Cotto fan out for a lynching there seems to be more evedence than I thought
But I am still unsure of a few things
Have these pads been proved to solidify and turn to plaster under the wrap ?
Does this small amount of plaster really offer such a dramatic difference to the power of the punch ?
If so how much makes the difference and what are the rules on this?
Re: Inside Margaritos Hand Wraps
The only arguement Margarito has is that he didn't know the bricks were in there. And to anyone who has ever wrapped up, believe me when I say you'd know. Wearing mexican handwraps you can even feel the difference if it is only slightly overlapping wrong, and notice it immediately.
I fail to see Margarito being that clueless. The guy has been wrapping up since he was kid, and fighting professionally for most of it. Maybe if he said "yea, it didn't feel right but I trusted my trainer, and he let me down in a big way' then maybe I might have bought it. But their whole act just stinks of cheating rats caught in a trap of their own making.
And yea, unless someone comes forward and admits they did it previously we'll likely never know, but if anyone thinks they don't deserve to be scrutinized and questioned for it, then I suspect your bias is blinding you to the possibility.

too true blood
Kind of like if someone stuck a paper mache sock onto your foot instead of a normal one and you had to walk around in it all day, it wouldnt take you 20minutes to realise you`d know the second it went on.
If you ask me what margarito has done is no different than what resto and panama lewis did to billy collins with the only difference being that case ended far more tragically while marg got found out before someone got very badly hurt.

They don't have an email address, but there's three ways you can file a complaint.
First you can submit one in writing to the below address.
California State Athletic Commission
2005 Evergreen Street, Suite 2010
Sacramento, CA 95815
Attn: Complaint Administrator
Or you can call (916) 263-2195 and press "8" on the dial pad, or fax your complaint to (916) 263-2197.
You know I will be giving them an ear full. :furious2:
Also, please post the above information on any other boxing forum that you may visit. ;D
Actuallly I want for Cotto to beat the shit out of him first.
When Miguel gets thru with Margacheater, there will be nothing left of him. I can't wait for the rematch and the redemption that will come with it. Cotto will stop Margapuzzy in 5 rounds. With out the plaster, Margaputo is nothing more than a human punching bag and hits no harder than Malignaggi. I wonder how many excuses Arum, Margarito and team Margarita will come up with as to why the rematch should not take place. ;D
Even without plaster casts Margarito will happy slap your hero into quitting like a bitch again.
:D
Re: Inside Margaritos Hand Wraps
Young Blood i do agree with you on few things but quick question did they find plaster or cal and sul because would it turn to plaster with oxgen. If thats the case they find plaster and not just elements right or i missing somthing if i am please point it out maybe i read it wrong or somthing. As for his past use its hard because the results of his fights vary alot.
