Jacobs is a skilled boxer, but his KO percentage is incredibly misleading. He won't be knocking out many legitimate opponents. I still think Ishe Smith would have beaten him if he hadn't waiting until the 4th round to start fighting.

Still gave 3rd to Pirog...one shot dont get it.Hes going to have to step in to Pirog
Re: Marquez - Diaz II Fight Thread
Yeah Jacobs is not a power puncher, he's an arm puncher.
Re: Marquez - Diaz II Fight Thread
Jacobs on his bike now. I wouldn't be surprised if he dropped Pirog coming in.
Also, there is no way Pirog will win a decision against a GBP fight, he pretty much has to stop Jacobs.

He's used to initiating and not needing to step off,I dont know if hes ever been behind and had to fight back to win??Early kos can be a double edge sword.
Re: Marquez - Diaz II Fight Thread
Jacobs just tried to make friends with Pirog...and just got :o KTFOUT !! Wow....this is why I love boxing
Re: Marquez - Diaz II Fight Thread
I'm really liking Pirog so far. He's got Jacobs in full retreat, though Jacobs is boxing quite well off the back foot.
Holy Shit! Brutal KO!
Re: Marquez - Diaz II Fight Thread
You have to feel for Jacobs though, his mind couldn't have been all in the right tonight considering the woman who raised him died a few days ago.
Re: Marquez - Diaz II Fight Thread
Was Jacobs another goldenboy fighter? Well there goes another prospect.

He was indeed.
Re: Marquez - Diaz II Fight Thread
The judges should be fired.Golden boy......what do you expect.Exposure 101 tonight and we discover a pretty fine fighter as well.
Re: Marquez - Diaz II Fight Thread

Did HBO give out the scores? What were they? Given that he is a GBP fighter I would imagine Jacobs had won every round on at least two cards.
Re: Marquez - Diaz II Fight Thread
Wow! Pirog looked class. Even before the Ko he was putting Jacobs on the backfoot and should have scored that KD in the 2nd. 17 straight wins 14 by KO. The guy is for real.
Jacobs will probably have an excuse for losing. He looked good in parts but he is the Amercian Amir Khan. Great against bums but faced with a similar aged/sized boxer he was out his depth. Good appetiser for the main event.

I'm not fan of Jacobs, but IMO he has a pretty valid excuse given that the person who raised him died a few days ago.
And I don't think the Khan comparison in apt. Khan had looked very shaky before getting stopped by Prescott, Jacobs has looked good against almost everyone prior to this though I think Ishe Smith gave him a tough fight. I'm no fan of his, but he can bounce back from this. Like Khan, this loss could make him a better fighter in the end (as they just said on SKy).
