Calzaghe got stick for Manfredo, so Bute deserves his stick for not having meaningful fights too.
Bute is possibly very good, but it's hard to tell against these kind of mandatories and Kessler and Pavlik leftovers.
Thing is, Brinkley fought his way to earn this title shot, it was his time, his payday. Bute is simply staying busy fighting a mandatory.
Bute's options are out of his control right now.
That's the problem with a multiple-year tournament like the Super 6. Bute needs to start fighting the guys who have dropped out though if they become available. I'd also like to see him fight Pascal.
Me too, Pascal would be a good fight. Nobody would have any complaints about that.
Pascal has really grown on me. I absolutely loathed him after the Miranda fiasco, but he showed a ton of heart vs. Froch and, like Froch, seems willing to fight anyone. At this point I think Pascal-Bute might even be a 50/50 fight.

Still not a particularly meaningful fight though, especially considering the depth that SMW has, but for sure that's not all completely down to Bute. All I am saying though is that on this fight Bilbo has a fair point. I've not read through all the threads today, so have a feeling Bilbo might have been winding up people elsewhere, but I haven't seen much trolling in this particular instance.
Who said it was?
Nobody, but there is no harm in calling it for what it is.
I'm watching Mason Dixon too, next topic....

Yeah, I wonder why he's even fighting really, he's a decent commentator, but he looks like he's gonna have a heart attack.
Re: Anyone else watching the Bute/Brinkley fight here?
Damn only saw the last 4 rounds. Tarver looked good for 3 of them, but a bit rubbish in that last round.

Correct symptoms, wrong diagnosis ;D
(Sorry, bad joke) No seriously, I often wonder how genuine a fighter is when they immediately complain of pain after a fight. If he didn't hurt his arm then that means he cant keep a journeyman off him for 10 rounds, which is bad news.
Although, I only saw the last round so I'm probably way off....

For those of you that were wondering the Sounders are up 2-0 over Chivas, almost full time
Re: Anyone else watching the Bute/Brinkley fight here?
Recap: Tarver won 8 rounds to 2 on every scorecard, and was just landing at will. He Probably wont be stopping any heavys, but he did kinda buckle Aguilera a bit. I think it was more of just how clean they were landing rather than any power. He had a injured left shoulder after the 3rd round, and the 10th round was his worst round by far.
Re: Anyone else watching the Bute/Brinkley fight here?
Also if you cut off the head and stick James Toney's on top, then that's how Toney should have looked in every fight since Holyfield. It's not ideal, but just enough to handle the weight and not be wobbling around and overbalancing all the time.
Shame on you, James Toney. You lazy fat bastard! I just had to say that.
Re: Anyone else watching the Bute/Brinkley fight here?
Lol jeez people all wound up, I thought what Bilbo said was pretty funny. I mean it's fair criticism, Bute looked decent against a guy he was clearly better then and carried the guy, lost 3 rounds by my count :o
Who do people think Bute beats in this division? I'm sorry but the thing I can not stand the most about a fighter with all that talent is one who just gives away rounds. It's pretty inexcusable. Give me a fighter who works to win every round.
Pascal-Bute is the fight to make right now imo. Bute would be a huge underdog against Ward in my eyes and I couldn't see him coming out of that. I know Bute is infinitely more skilled and less crude then Froch but *gulp*, Froch would have made a real close fight out of the Bute that was in the ring tonight. I'm reading write ups now calling Bute 'impressive' and no way he was impressive! I mean if you can land that cleanly on a guy seemingly at will then you shouldn't be fighting lackadaisically like Bute was. Lame.

Re: Anyone else watching the Bute/Brinkley fight here?
Bute is good but sooner or later fighting these type of opponents will diminish his skills, he'll get used to coasting and getting away with shit that he wouldn't be able to get away with if he had ss6 fighter there. Plus he keeps the left awfully low for some reason, I still think he's tied for best smw and it be a real close fight between him and ward.
Re: Anyone else watching the Bute/Brinkley fight here?
I'm not so hot on Bute but you have to understand that some guys just can't help but fight to the level of their opposition :-\
