Of course, Floyd has fought at 154 twice and was successful both times. There is no doubt he can be successful at 154. But, if you were in
his shoes, why would you? Less risk, and he can still make good money fighting the likes of Amir Khan.
In addition, there is no reason to criticize a boxer for moving up in weight if he can successfully make the weight class he is fighting in.
Floyd shouldn't be criticized for not moving up in weight.
Canelo shouldn't be criticized for not moving down in weight either. If Mayweather doesn't want to move in weight to face Canelo because he can make 147 easily, and if Canelo can't make 147, then so be it. Canelo seems comfortable at 154. He should clean out the division and build his own legacy there. There are plenty of credible fights at 154 for Canelo. He can have a money-making fight beating up Cotto. Refusing to fight Canelo at 154 doesn't enhance his legacy at all. That's for sure. I just don't think we can knock a guy for fighting at 147, if he can make the weight comfortably.
For years Sergio Martinez called for a fight with Floyd at 154 (he even said he would go to 150 at one point) but Floyd wouldn't go for it.
I'm pretty sure the contract gives Floyd discretion on who he wants to fight. If that means the fight is at 147, then end of story.

What was Cotto's weight the night of his fight with Mayweather? I'm pretty sure that VD is right about Ortiz ballooning up to 165, or something for his fight with Mayweather. Also, what was Oscar's? It's clear that Floyd has faced men comparable in size to Canelo before. He's been at 154 before twice.
Also, let me be clear, Khan/Alexander are bad fights for Mayweather. It would almost be like taking a step back from Guerrero and Ortiz, which is difficult to do really.

Let's see the outcome of Bradley and Marquez. Bradley has as good of an argument as anyone for a Mayweather fight.
After thinking about it a bit more, I do recall Mayweather making the point that he was fighting Cotto at the weight Cotto was comfortable at, and that he wasn't making Cotto fight at an uncomfortable weight. The same principle should apply to Canelo. If Mayweather thinks he is too big, then he shouldn't face him, but coming down to 147 shouldn't happen either.

Mayweather will not just put on 1 pound overnight. Either way Ortiz was 164 on fight night. And Cotto looked like he was close to 170. Nothing he ain't done before. Not only that but extra weight is not exactly an advantage for his opponent
Cotto was at 165, which is too much for his frame. He still managed to look good against Floyd, though. Canelo is younger and has a bigger frame. He can bulk up into the mid-170's no problem. Floyd does not look good at anything over 150.
The 20-pound difference estimate is more accurate than the 10-pound one.

Saul is creating his own legacy, everyone knows the only real challenge for Floyd is Canelo, Floyd beats everyone else and no one is interested in these other fights.

Sure did spend a lot of years cherry picking and creating that legacy such as avoiding Kostya and then Pacquiao (altough I think PAC and MAY both avoided each other). Did not fight Mosley till he was over the hill. Same applies to Cotto. Picked on smaller guys like Hatton and Marquez. But everyone get's all butthurt when he's not the one bullying and has to fight a bigger fighter at 154.
