Has anybody in your family had the Corona virus?

Lyle. Not perturbed. Just interested. As an aside, this recent fashion of feeling like we’ve upset another poster or made them angry I also find Interesting in an odd way. Anyway....

By all means ask whatever you like. Say whatever you like. I don’t really care. My only interest was the why. Why you felt the need to ask those questions in the first place or google statistics to support an argument that if this is no more or less than flu, didn’t really need asking or googling.

If I said my whole family had the flu, you wouldn’t waste any time or effort looking into it, right? I hope not anyway.

I’m not trying to prove or disprove anything.

Just to make it crystal clear. I have no idea if i have had the corona virus or whether my Mrs, or anyone else in our family, who has been ill over the last 6 weeks has. There is no test available until you are hospitalised by it. The last time i have been more ill was about 6 or 7 years ago and then i ended up in the back of an Ambulance. Myself and the Mrs came back from Holiday to find one week later that the Hotel directly opposite to the one we stayed in was locked down full of people with Corona virus symptoms. They could not leave the Hotel or fly home.

All of us have had the flu several times before, and i can assure it was not the flu, whatever it was. At no point was any of our breathing bad enough to call for an ambulance but that does not mean we just had a bit of a cold either. I don't want to tempt fate or fuck about when perfectly healthy people a lot younger and fitter than me are dying alone in hospital, so I can literally say hand on heart, I do not know.

Also i want to be clear that this misguided idea about living in areas that are not so densely populated. You can not extrapolate from that some kind of theory that pretends it is safer. There are far fewer ICU beds (barely double figures for the whole of Cornwall) and critical care units, and with quite an elderly retired population the pressure on regional hospitals in rural areas is massive. That is why second home owners have been told to stay in their first homes.

Also thanks El Kabong for thinking that none of us dying proves your stupid little theory, ignoring the fact that perfectly healthy people are dying from it whilst the majority, even with pre-existing health conditions make a good recovery.

Also if you and Gandalf think that it is so likely that i and my family and loved ones would probably die if we had it, why were you both so keen to call me a scardy cat and a coward and a baby etc? :-\ ;D


The crazy thing is that i have been anything but hysterical. Not here, not in my everyday life. I have to carry on. You don't get a day off when you are a carer , You don't get classed as vulnerable by the Government even if you literally cannot get out without support to shop etc. So my Mrs does not qualify for free deliveries or any help even if i am bed bound, and yet if she had to go to hospital they would score her high enough to put someone else in an ICU bed ahead of her if numbers were tight, which they are. So yeah ...fucking lecture me about responsibility and social distancing Gladys why not?

I mean if I am ill again who is going to help the Mrs wash her one hand? something as simple as that. We have an automatic dispenser but it is virtually impossible to work up enough lather with one hand to wash off any viral traces. For the disabled this is doubly scary. Yet she isn't scared she is far braver than you will ever be. She has been in an ICU unit for months, been in a coma, had to learn how to walk, talk, eat etc so she really goes at life with no fear. I would not dare be a coward when living with someone like that.

the flu didn't shutdown the world. titofan can we compare it with tuberculosis? i thought we cared about saving lives. things causing the most lives should be dealt with, no? what about starvation? there is already a cure, it's called food. i heard the american surgeon general & the coronavirus task force had dumped the gates, cdc, who model. don't know if that's true but i can tell you that the lockdowns will cause more damage than the virus

So the fact that there's SIGNIFICANTLY more cases of seasonal flu doesn't impact your belief at all? Even when there's no test done for Chinese Coronavirus?

I mean if that's what you think fine, just seems a bit of a jump to conclusions to me.

There are no medicines available to treat it. Paracetamol to manage temperature. Benzocaine and Tyrothricin anaesthetic and antibiotic for Throat pain and Vitamin D and C etc. Rest, rest. rest. You can only treat the symptoms like many viruses.

I did not say your family would 'probably die' if they had it. That is another work of your tenuous neurons, Beanz. I have said people with serious existing conditions are much more likely to be hospitalized and die. Many obviously do not. The fact is none of you were hospitalized or even know if you had it.
