Just under a year whats ya point

Re: Who wins prime Lewis v prime Tyson?
For me Lewis would have won.
I'm not really sure why some people can't accept just how good Lennox was. He was ducked by the supposed "best heavyweight in the world" in Riddick Bowe and Holyfield ducked him for long enough.
What more did anyone want him to prove?

No this is the first time I've posted on this. I previously ignored it because I didn't think it was worth debating. For me, it's hard to judge these things because in alot of cases, when a fighter fights in his prime and loses, people begin to question if he was past it at that point and nobody realised it. In the end, they fought and Tyson lost clearly. I don't think Tyson could have ever contended with Lewis' power.

See i don't think a prime Lewis would have been able to contend with a Prime Tyson's speed and power combined
-
Re: Who wins prime Lewis v prime Tyson?
Lewis would win.....he was a safe boxer, a "pugilist specialist" if you will.
Survive 5 rounds with Tyson and it's all downhill from there.
-
Re: Who wins prime Lewis v prime Tyson?
See i dont agree with that in his prime Tyson was their for 12 rounds he had good stamina and fitness he had great speed of foot and hand great power in either hand and was'nt easy to hit either
-
Re: Who wins prime Lewis v prime Tyson?
It wasn't that Tyson didn't have stamina....Tyson's body language would change and his heart would give out. Tyson is a big Shane Mosley....and Lennox would eat him up with the 1-2.
And let's not forget Prime Lewis could take a good shot....he took Tua's best and didn't have a problem.
Not saying Lewis had an iron chin but vs dangerous fighters he knew what was coming and was still able to box effectively
-
Re: Who wins prime Lewis v prime Tyson?
I'd say Tyson hit harder than Tua and Tua only threw 1 to 2 shots at a time when he got close Tyson would throw 5 to 6 shots he knew how to cut a ring off Tua was useless you can't compare Tua to a prime Tyson. Tua vs Lewis was and would be nothing like prime Tyson vs Prime Lewis Lewis would struggle to keep Tyson off he would be under the jab and in smashing away.

...okey-dokey first off, lets discuss this post prison tyson(the one holy beat) shall we!
tyson was inactive for 4 years(thats longer than alis exsile) and he fought a total of 8 rds in 4 fights leading up to holyfield and he fought bums that were S*** scared. he won all off those fights by scaring his opponents out of there titles, he didnt have to fight for them he simply won them off his mistiuqe.
he was simple not ready for holyfield and took the old warrior lightly to say the least. secondly it was not the tyson off old, if you watch all his fights he became a head-hunter since 89 when he left rooney. he thought his myth was enough to win(hence to douglas a** whoopin).
the tyson from pre-88 would have destroyed douglas by KO and holy by UD.
....tyson- lewis always makes for a great debate and i like tyson in this won by UD ;)
Didn't he always do that ???

Re: Who wins prime Lewis v prime Tyson?
Yea well its not like Lewis ever lost to lesser men Like Oliver McCall and Hasim Rahman who dont punch a fraction with the speed and power of Tyson... Not to mention Tysons peek a boo and excellent side to side movement and body work... Tyson could slip alto of jabs and get on the inside and bust Lewis up...
I laugh my friggin azz off when people think it was some great feat that Lennox beat a past it uniterested paycheck collecting Tyson....

No one on this forum gives Lewis credit for Tyson win and rightly so and wasn't Tyson beaten by lesser man Buster Douglas ?? yes some people will say he wern't in his prime which is the case but that was Tysons first opponent that didn't fight scared and he fought the right fight using his jab and moving Lewis did not take Rahman and Oliver seriously he would take Tyson seriously and imo Lewis always does the buisness against top level opponents when he is in top shape and he has the height and the boxing skills to win.

Hey I respected Lewis skill, even tho I though he was opportunistic and picked at the carcasses of 2 the great fighters of his time to build his legacy
Holyfield
Tyson
But I would take a Prime Tyson because he would have more than a punchers chance, Tyson had a Iron beard, Good Boxing skills to go with his quickness and power...
I retracting my previous comments about Tysons heart, I said he didnt have one, well he did forget his last 2 fights which were a spectacle and he shouldnt have been in there.... People will say that Tyson never got off the floor to win a fight, well when Tyson got KO'D it was from an accumulation of punishment that when he was out he was OUT.... Mike was a warrior with some issues, he was a mess he was Fuked up and has had some of the lowest moments that anyone has had in and out of the ring, he was a villian a real bona fied villian, but aside from his side show fights, Holyfield 2 Williams(he tore his ACL), McBride he dug in and when he got beat, well he got beat

Re: Who wins prime Lewis v prime Tyson?
Tyson put Lewis to sleep in sparring FACT when Lewis came round he said do you know what i mean Harry ,he did nt know where he was for a while ,he thought he was Frank Bruno.

no! tucker and berbick came to fight. yeah everyone knows spinks was shitting his pants but back then tyson fought his ass off ....post prison tyson didnt fight. i mean he landed one punch on seldon ,but he just went down from fear same with bruno, bruno was scared shitless....so you see tyson never had to fight to regain those titles but when he was prime he fought hard for the title against tucker and berbick and well smith was holding and running for 12rds

Re: Who wins prime Lewis v prime Tyson?
Just to end the debate you can't win with the Tyson fans because every struggle or loss he has there is always an excuse if i mention Ruddock he is past it if i mention Tillis he hadn't peaked if i mention Douglas he hadn't trained if i mention Bruno he was fading so when exactly was his prime two fights against the mediocre Berbick or natural lightheavyweight Spinks who was bricking it ??

He beat Ruddock easily despite not using his earlier skills. Tillis was beaten handily and was an early opponent. Douglas was beaten by Tucker and yet beat Tyson easily. It does indicate a lack of training.
Prime Tyson beat Holmes and early. Nobody else did that. Lewis beat Tucker but was outboxed more than Tyson but when Tucker was far older.

Beating a 39 year old Holmes coming off a two year layoff,is not exactly a great resume padder, sort of like saying Berbick was an all time great for beating a flat out elderly Ali
-
Re: Who wins prime Lewis v prime Tyson?
They both could beat each other on a given night. Tyson could land a big shot, and KO anyone, that's boxing, but so could Lewis. Out of ten fights, Mike gets a few KOs, but Lewis is the smarter fighter, and makes proper adjustments, and wins more out of ten. As for a one-night only, it could go either way.
By the way TysonBruno, someone had made the comment that Lennox beat an "old man", my point was that Lewis was older at the time, or same age, so, an "old man", got beat by an "old man" ;D

2nd Ruddock fight was tough probably Tysons 3rd hardest fight of his career and i didn't really see any difference between the 86 to 88 version and 91 version its all nonsense that he had become headhunter if thats true then why did he break Ruddocks ribs ?? imo there wasn't really any difference its just Ruddock wasn't scared he came to fight and he was a bit unorthdox with his punches because he threw wild hooks shame he never worked on his jab Tillis was not beaten handily Tyson said himself the knockdown saved him and even though i don't like Tyson he doesn't normally bs about his opponents prime Tyson beat washed up inactive yes inactive that means not facing anyone for warm ups atleast when Tyson fought Holyfield he had warm up fights vs champions Holmes didn't plus he only had 2 weeks to train and Holmes still made good account of himself he was even all the way with Tyson until the knockdown as i said about Tucker that was prolly Tuckers best performance of his whole career yet Lewis still dropped him twice something Tyson couldn't do and it wasn't like Tucker was fading it or past it that i can recall anyway.

You just said outright "I dont like Tyson".

Yes i did say that but i also said Tyson don't normally bs about his opponents regarding aka Tillis and did you read what i actually said ?? i said Ruddock fights that wasn't when he went to prison and there is no real difference between 91 version or late 80s version and just because someone got koed that doesn't mean they can't give good account of themselves before the ko... and like i said Lewis is big tall good skills good jab imo he has height reach and skills to beat Tyson.

He beat Ruddock handily both times. There is a huge difference between prime Tyson and the 90's incarnation.
Tucker was tall and rangey and was beaten with ease....and in his Prime....
You suggest a quota to beat Tyson, a little bit more is needed....

Youd think being 39,and out of boxing for two years, fighting against the heavy weight champ, would be about the best excuse you could come up with short of the mob holding your mom and gunpoint

He was still hurt by Ruddock numerous times and it was very tough nights work both times and there isn't really no difference between early 90s one or late 80s one tell me what is so different ?? maybe his headmovement was tad better in late 80s but thats about it and Tucker was tall and rangey and won 4 rounds Lewis is alot better than Tucker and he would win 7 or 8 rounds.

Yes he was past it difference is with Holyfield and Oliver fights he had time to train he was active alot different from being out of boxing 2 years having 2 weeks to train and being on a losing streak and no im not Tyson fan i hate his actions inside and outside ring and actually i have said bad things about Lewis before i had debate with Memphis and BIG H about Lewis but your boy Tyson is active and champion yet he is out of his prime when he is in his early 20s ...
-
Re: Who wins prime Lewis v prime Tyson?
As i've said previously, after studing his early fights closely i can tell you that tyson was starting to decline by the end of his 19 fight ko streak. Winning the belts lifted his fighting level up to what it previously was but after douglas he was done. I think a Prime tyson is a handful for anybody and i'm talking prime prime. If lewis can stay away from him he wins. I'm leaning toward tyson by late ko (if mccall and rahman can drop lewis so can tyson) but it really could go either way.
-

Uhh i don't judge fighters on if i like them you know better than that Miles i don't like Tyson yet i still have him beating Marciano and other greats i didn't like Pryors antics either yet he is high in my rankings yes i did admit i don't like Tyson i don't think most people would like him after what he has done ... but i still admit he was very skillful its just im not one of those people who thinks Tyson is unbeatable in his prime which he isn't and amount of excuses this guy has is just unreal.
