Rubio just didnt have the power to hurt him

I'm not too keen on the interview technique here. ;D

What?
Rubio was getting the shit beat out of him, wasn't throwing anything back, and had absolutely no chance to do anything other than sustain serious injury. Thus, the fight should've been stopped.

Re: Cotto vs.Jennings<>Pavlik vs.Rubio
Good performance from Pavlike dominated from the first bell. Suprised he didn't finish the job but his relentless pressure was clearly far too much for an overmatched Rubio.
and Rubio is no joke, taking away Arthur Abraham he was as about a credible challenge at 160 as you can get. Winky is fighting Williams, maybe the winner of that is a good matchup, Felix would never get in the ring with Rubio let alone Pavlik so who else.
A rematch with Hopkins? On the back of tonights performance I'd imagine a Calzaghe fight would be attractive if he could be tempted back.

Re: Cotto vs.Jennings<>Pavlik vs.Rubio
Between the two, Cotto had the better showing. Cotto fought like nothing had happened and had his man in trouble then took him out.
Pavlik on the other hand came out of the gate firing and also put the loss behind him. Rubio sat on the ropes the whole fight and he definitely should've knocked him out but didn't. I like how Pavlik mixed in some body shots in his arsenal but in the end he still relies on the jab + straight right too much.

Pavlik fought too cautiously probably because Rubio kept trying to play possum. Rubio was also very defensive so it was hard to land anything flush against him. Survival mode can suck!hehe
Thats true too,Rubio fought sheepish from the get go,Just would like Pavlik to find different gears off his natural power. He dominated, back on track so looking forward to next go.Rubio has shown more in past but really outgunned
And Ray Mancini makes Max Kellerman come across as one of the best interviewers ever ;D

Re: Cotto vs.Jennings<>Pavlik vs.Rubio
Thnak God for the mute button. After listening to Charlie Steiner for the first and hopefully last time, it went on and stayed on.
The, after listening the to the motor mouth offerings of Ray Manicini, it went on again.
For $ 50 bucks, I expect better announcing. These guys were grim.

Re: Cotto vs.Jennings<>Pavlik vs.Rubio
I wonder about pavlik staying at 160.Not exactly a stacked division. The only fight I see is Pavlik vs. Abraham.I think David Lopez is his mandatory ??Respect to steady Sturm but....Was Pavs problem more weight or More Hopkins up a division?

Rubio put in a no show, he is another Arum fighter so.....naw I'm j/k Pavlik just pounded him you could see him punching his arms but Rubio was still wincing. He was making Rubio knock himself out just punching his gloves full force. The few times he did catch Rubio, he hurt him.

This made you proud? LMAO!
Jennings should have known the only way to beat Cotto is to use plaster bricks in your wraps or did you not send him the memo? Oh, I forgot, both you and Chino think that there is no way in hell that Margarito was using loaded wraps in that fight. LMAO!

Re: Cotto vs.Jennings<>Pavlik vs.Rubio
good confidence builder fights for both guys. I'm glad they won, and they both looked good.
Ray Mancini needs cue cards. He looked distracted, like he was thinking what his next meal was going to be.

Re: Cotto vs.Jennings<>Pavlik vs.Rubio
Well , first good fight from both , i don't know if is was Jennings style , but i thought that Jennings would bring more action or be more aggressive for get the vacant Title in this fight ....., but Congratulations for both ......;)
Although i noticed something not usual on Cotto this night in the interview after the fight , when made him a question that who will be his next ? , he most of time say " I will do what my Company Top Rank want " , in where his answer for this question he " called out " that will be ready to fight for the Rematch with Mosley or face Clotey , Berto or the winner between Paquiao and Hatton , is odd to heard this by Cotto ..............;)
So what we could think is happening now ?

Re: Cotto vs.Jennings<>Pavlik vs.Rubio
I think he should get the biggest money fight available. That will be the winner of Hatton/Paquiao. He should definitely stay at 147 and not move down to 140.
After that he should get a rematch with Mosely and IF he wins get a rematch with Margarito.

It's not that Cotto was calling anyone out, the guy who was doing the interview told Cotto not to give him that same old line everytime someone asks what is next for Cotto, so Cotto did as he was asked and he said whom ever at 147 well you heard him.

Re: Cotto vs.Jennings<>Pavlik vs.Rubio
Just saw it, was pretty much what I expected to see round for round. I think Jennings does deserve some credit he could have made VD's 8 rounds if he wasn't actually there to fight but after the first 2 rounds he did engage some more.
Cotto is a great fighter and you know you have great fighters when they improve. It's very obvious that this Cotto is not the Cotto from the Torres fight anymore and that's what to me is most appealing about Cotto. Tonight he dd what great fighters do and took out a guy he was supposed to take out. He wasn't dumb though and he wasn't out for blood he was smart. I think I was most impressed with the fact that he controlled distance literally the entire fight. His footwork was brilliant he kept Jennings on the very end of his jab and picked off almost every single jab Jennings had. He was cutting off the ring with it and while I don't think he would have wanted to anyways, it made sure there was no way Jennings would come inside. Then the end was viscous, his shots were spaced perfectly, he didn't waste anything and he varied his punches, placed them perfectly. It was brutal, he should have mixed his punches more against Margarito.
I think the fight I honestly most want to see is Mayweather-Cotto. Unfortunately I don't know if it'll ever happen and there are plenty of other good fights available in the division that will probably means that never happens. But I honestly think that's the fight that if it was made at this point, it's the one I would most get excited for. Nothing to do with the fights tonight, just the way I feel.

Re: Cotto vs.Jennings<>Pavlik vs.Rubio
Watching Cotto in the ring is something you just cannot describe. Controlled and Methodical one minute, then turn into a beast the next minute.
When he goes for the kill like he did against Jennings, it's like watching an execution with one pissed off executioner. Vicious and unrelenting. Those body shots made me wince.
Incredible stuff.

IMO that was the same Pavlik that fought Hop, bronchitis/elbow/weight, even when things are fine he still takes too much time to prepare his feet to throw a punch, even a jab. He gets countered all day against an elite boxer like Hopkins. I think he needs a change of trainer as the only new thing he showed against Rubio was a wild left hook in the early rounds. He has great physical strength and stamina, but it needs to be better harnessed.
Abraham will be a very good fight, tough to pick but I lean towards Arthur at the moment, he takes a good punch and will be able to absorb the blows with his hands up guard, Rubio with a similar guard lasted 9 with Kelly and he didn't even fire back..
Cotto was a beast again last night like against Gomez, anything a tier below world level and he munches them. He got it tactically wrong against Marg, stepping into the ring assuming that he couldn't KO him, it made him too economical with his punches allowing Marg to inflict damage of his own. A bit more persistence like Mosley showed and even the toughest nuts crack.
