Re: Froch Vs Abraham - Ward Vs Bika etc STICKY.
JMM's body work is great in this fight, people are saying about JMM's 37 year old legs. What about Michael Katsidis ? how will he hold up in the end with all those painful left hooks to the ribcage ?

Not sure but if he offers you a warm beverage you better decline

I think we can safely say this is the FOTY.

Re: Froch Vs Abraham - Ward Vs Bika etc STICKY.
This is one of the best fights i've seen this decade, im literally on the edge of my seat. This fight is really special and im glad i stayed up for it.
-
Re: Froch Vs Abraham - Ward Vs Bika etc STICKY.
Think this fight is now deceptivly one sided. Lots of action from Kats bur effectivess is Jmm
-
Re: Froch Vs Abraham - Ward Vs Bika etc STICKY.
The was a fucking terrible stoppage.
-
Re: Froch Vs Abraham - Ward Vs Bika etc STICKY.
Good call from the ref, that was like 30 unanswered punches. JMM pulls it out again in the FOTY JMM is the greatest.
-
Re: Froch Vs Abraham - Ward Vs Bika etc STICKY.
Kats just couldn't handle those combinations with those uppercuts, well done JMM

Really ? he took about 30 answered punches without throwing back, he was gone and offered nothing in return.

He was on his feet, wasn't badly hurt, and he deserved the chance to come back. I was cheering for Marquez, but given the type of fight it was I feel that Katsidis deserved more time.

I thought is was not a good stoppage. Kas.. just got his legs back and started being aggressive. He was beat to shit but he recovered.

That's exactly how I feel. He might well have gotten dropped/stopped/ktfo, but he deserved the opportunity to continue.

Re: Froch Vs Abraham - Ward Vs Bika etc STICKY.
I thought it was a bit premature...but the writing was on the wall.
Great Fight!
-
Re: Froch Vs Abraham - Ward Vs Bika etc STICKY.
Froch deserves props, he shut down AA. Ward is soo dirty and holds too much he's worse than the Klit bros. I think Litzau deserved the win in his fight, and the stoppage was bad in the JMM fight, at least let him get knocked down, he had just thrown punches right before. Bayless stops fights too fast for my tastes, he jumps in and starts shaking his head no, waving his hands.

Re: Froch Vs Abraham - Ward Vs Bika etc STICKY.
I have very little interest in seeing Pacquiao - Marquez III.

How did the Ward - Bika fight play out?

I'll watch it again tomorrow but from what i remember JMM landed 6 punch combo off the ropes, Michael Katsidis backed up. JMM was then landing at will Michael Katsidis was just backing up, Michael Katsidis didn't recover he didn't throw a punch for almost 50 seconds, while he was getting hit with every but the kitchen sink.
He was going to be stopped shortly after, i don't see no reason why he should take more punishment. If Michael Katsidis would of thrown back it wouldn't of been stopped, but he threw nothing back and he's head was getting snapped back good call IMO.

It wasn't premature imo, like ICB said there were so many unanswered punches from Kats. The safety of the fighter comes first and foremost. This is still a sport, not a death match. Bayless did the correct thing.

Merchant has no business asking that last question IMO. Totally classless.

Not only did he ask it, he cut the guy off when he was in the middle of what he was going to say. Imo that's worse

I disagree. This fight was a war from the outset and Katsidis deserved the opportunity to continue. I don't want to see anyone hurt in the ring, but Katsidis is a Gatti-type fighter who gets hurt, recovers, and comes back. He didn't get that opportunity in this fight.
-
Re: Froch Vs Abraham - Ward Vs Bika etc STICKY.
Awesome fight as someone else said though somewhat deceptively one sided but lived up to my hopes. As for the stopage it looked like he had just weathered the storm and actually just landed a punch himself a second prior, but can't argue to much with it because he did take a bunch of unanswered power shots.

Agreed i mean how can you say that was bad call ? honestly Michael Katsidis didn't throw a punch for almost 50 seconds. And he was hit with what ? 30 answered punches ? the ref gave him every chance to throw back and he didn't.
Michael Katsidis is brave but he's too brave for his own good at times, and the ref done him a favour.

Rewatch it again Katsidis was get hit with everything and Bayless could have stepped in then but he let Marquez go at it. Then Katsidis got some space got his legs back and turned aggressive and then landed a short left hook right then Bayless stepped in. I would say it was an afterthought on Bayless' part that made him step in and not Katsidis condition at the moment when he did.

Will do when i get a copy tomorrow because i'll be watching this one again, thats for sure. But forgetting whether it was an early stoppage or not, how about we appreciate what an amazing fight we just saw.
Honestly my heart is still racing, one of the most incredible fights i've seen this decade. Michael Katsidis is the modern day Arturo Gatti, and JMM is just special he's made of something else which is why he's my favourite fighter currently.
But one last thing did Michael Katsidis complain about the stoppage ? he seemed fine about it to me. I mean it wouldn't of made a difference except Michael Katsidis would of been laid out flat on his back, and he would of took more punishment.

The stoppage was bullshit, I pay $10 a month for my boxing streams and I want to see knockouts. We could have had a nice highlight reel finish and some real drama. Instead we have Kats walking out of the arena unaided having been allowed to dodge the beating that Marquez had been training three months to dish out.
Everybody left feeling shortchanged.

Re: Froch Vs Abraham - Ward Vs Bika etc STICKY.
Marquez/Katsidis was tremendous fun. Marquez is a freak of nature and looked really fresh out there. He certainly didn't look like a 37 year old JWW. His counter punching was as crisp as ever. And props to Katsidis too. He showed tremendous heart and his post fight interview was quite sad. I hope he manages to bounce back well.
