Kell Brook beats Jo Jo Dan to retain IBF world welterweight title
England's Kell Brook successfully defended his IBF world welterweight title with a fourth-round victory over Romanian-born Jo Jo Dan in Sheffield.
Unbeaten Brook, 28, was fighting for the first time since he was stabbed in the leg while on holiday in Tenerife.
He dominated in his home town, flooring Dan four times before the Romanian failed to come out for the fifth round.
"I didn't think I would walk again, never mind box again. Now I'm here defending my title," said Brook.
"I've come from a council estate, now I'm world champion. I've come from the bottom and I'm at the top."
Dan, 33, had never been stopped in his previous 36 professional fights, but was sent to the canvas twice in the second round and twice more in the fourth before he was pulled out of the fight by his corner.
Brook, who has a perfect record of 34 wins from 34 bouts, was making the first defence of his world title since beating American Shawn Porter on points in California last August.
However, Brook's career looked to be over two weeks later when he was stabbed in the leg with a machete in what he called an "unprovoked attack".
"It was amazing to be able to walk to the ring again and this is where I belong," added Brook. "It was hard to hold it together. I didn't think I would box again, and I can't put into words what it means to defend my title."
Brook now hopes this win leads to an all-British bout with Amir Khan.
"If you're watching Amir Khan, then get in here with me. I know you're delicate around the whiskers," said Brook.
Promoter Eddie Hearn wants Brook to fight Khan at Wembley in June.
"There's a venue available on 13 June," said Hearn. "If Amir Khan is watching, give everyone what they want.
"He doesn't have an opponent and he is talking about fighting boxers lower than Kell. It's the biggest pay-day available and it's for a world title."

Great win for Russell. Great way to bounce back from your first loss and everyone saying you were overrated.
Showtime in the US aired the Brook fight after Gonzalez, I didn't watch it, I'll need to see it on demand.
Khan has stated he's fighting in May in Vegas and A fight with Brook won't happen at Webley on June 13th.
He says he's going a different route but does want that fight in the future.
Fuck me Amir there's only one 2 ways your getting a belt at Weterweight this year and one is Brook which is on a plate for you right now or the winner of Pac v Floyd.
He should change his plans and come and face Brook before his misses the boat because I'm pretty sure the division will be unified this year and that only leaves 3 people in the mix and unless Amir fights Brook he isn't one of them
Floyd has already said Khan has nothing to offer which he doesn't in term of Ppv buys, crowd pulling and belts.
He's gonna lose out again and the best way to get to Floyd or Pac is to take the belt from Brook.
Infact it's probably his only way of getting what he wants
Kell v JoJo
Brook looked incredible. That was a complete wipe-out. He made the #1 contender look like the #1 pretender. Brilliant dismantle.
Prediction. JoJo Dan will be reduced to the bum of the week by Wednesday.
Charlo v Vanes
I was bummed that his brother was not televised and I expected more from Jermell. He looked pretty rinse and repeat and was a cheap skate with his punches. At times he looked like Ben Tackie with half the output. Right guy won and Byrds card as usual was a ? mark.
Russell v Gonzo
Well he had to beat him right but I never thought I'd see it quite like that. He had everything going for him though and its a perfect fight to look good in but Gary was impressive. I'm not much on excuses but I do buy Gary's explanation in part for his flat performance against Loma. This whole trend lately of "strength and conditioning" coaches does not seem to bear fruit. In fact most of the time, fighters cant make weight and look like shit. I dont like his overly close relationship to his dad and I dont like this default pass the buck to Haymon when these guys are asked who they want to fight. They are being asked not Al. I wish Gary would have demanded a Loma rematch. What, do all these guys have actual gag orders? I wasn't expecting him to call out Walters.
Prediction. Jhonny Gonzalez will be called shot by Wednesday by the same people that picked him to ko Russell.
Your predictions speak volumes about the fickleness of boxing fans.
:)
Styles make fights and all but Russell looked terrific. If Lomachenko hadn't already schooled him there'd be plenty backing him for that match.
