I'm sorry you seemed to have mistook me for somebody who cares how you feel.
Yes, yes it IS a personal attack because you've called them naive rather than address what they believe. You just say "Oh you're naive" in response to the issues they express, the arguments they make.....so I guess I can just say "Oh you're naive" and leave it at that, that's my debate right there, "You're naive"....that's not how debate works and I'm tired of waiting on you to fucking learn how to actually argue a point rather than just shit all over the board rather than intellectually engage anyone with an opposing view or even a view that's more in agreement with you. It is so depressing that you are not able to do that, I mean you appear to understand English, you appear to think.....sometimes....but have a debate, you can't fucking do it.
What this has to do with the UK election is it shows what Labour and other left leaning parties are like....you're one of their constituents and that spells out why you guys got your asses handed to you, but don't look in the mirror and diagnose your problems, come on the internet and call people like miles and brockton "naive" don't offer up reasons why or any kind of explanation with facts or figures, just say "you're naive" leave it at that and that'll show those dirty plebs!
There you go again, another personal attack with fucking NOTHING even close to any kind of argument in there.....just a personal attack, oh but you ain't mad are you? Keep them coming @Beanz these personal attacks are all you have and it's pathetic.Quote:
And of course there is a middle road, you are like a little boy in a cowboy suit thinking he is Clint Eastwood, when in reality he would get his arse kicked by the milky bar kid
You are just being completely dishonest now Lyle. A liar. Calling people plebs is what you lot on the right do all the time. Where are the people on the left starting threads calling you all idiots and then updating them every day? You have basically turned into a troll. If you think compulsively @mentioning people is some kind of heroic or vaguely useful contribution then you are deluded. Miles started this thread to talk about the UK election but you and Brockton can not even acknowledge that the idea of the left, right and center are different here, because of your American imperialism, which shadows how you think. I say think, but really unless it is in easily digestible televisual YouTube format then you both struggle, but that is your culture.
I have posted election facts and figures but you are not interested you just want to derail the debate and make it all about fucking America. It's boring and you are incredibly boring. Why do I have to engage with you or humour you? You have the entire board and all the other posters
You are a troll Lyle nothing more
"You are just being completely dishonest now Lyle. A liar."

"Calling people plebs is what you lot on the right do all the time."
Projection
"Where are the people on the left starting threads calling you all idiots and then updating them every day?"
Blaming me for the lack of an opposing view meanwhile I've spent the last 100 or so posts practically begging for debate
"If you think compulsively @mentioning people is some kind of heroic or vaguely useful contribution then you are deluded. "
I argued that?
"Miles started this thread to talk about the UK election but you and Brockton can not even acknowledge that the idea of the left, right and center are different here, because of your American imperialism, which shadows how you think. I am fully aware the politics are quite different there, but I still enjoy those personal attacks you lay out...you're not shy about using those :-X
"I have posted election facts and figures but you are not interested you just want to derail the debate and make it all about fucking America."
You've posed questions of me which I answered and you have continued to avoid rebuttal because you don't do debating. I haven't talked about America in here unless someone else brought it up.
" It's boring and you are incredibly boring. Why do I have to engage with you or humour you? You have the entire board and all the other posters"
You've engaged? You've done nothing but name call and avoid debate....yeah THANK FUCK for the other posters, they'll actually debate, there's give and take. With you it's just name calling and scoffing you've got the whole 'I can't even' attitude down pat
"You are a troll Lyle nothing more"
And when in doubt resort to personal attacks....like fucking clockwork
I never said I did, I've never acted as if I did, neither has brockton. I merely wanted to point out that you do not practice what you preach. I'll be HAPPY to give you room to vent if you want, just tell me that's what you need and I'll give it to you just say "@El Kabong, I do not wish to debate you on this issue, I just want to vent" and I'll leave you well enough alone. It is just that easy.
Iodine is an essential element, though it doesn't mix with my thyroid. I have never argued Putin is a beacon of democracy. I do posit that Russia and China as a check on unrestrained US force is good for the world and that Russia has a blooming organic food market. I don't think any of these Western nations are democratic really. All bogus media and political gargoyles instead of real candidates that speak and act for people. That is why Corbyn is like a mania with me. I want to see a rare opportunity happen. But I also know Brexit and economic collapse will be there to tear him down immediately. People have to see through these things. RT is an excellent news source and Assange does a lot of good. Putin is Putin, but far more stable than someone like May.
Well said. Everyone else refuses to discuss the election so I am glad you are. See, how can we be out of touch? We just want to stop seeing people shat on. It's not too much to ask. I spend a lot of time at the hospital, so we registered my car there when I stayed for 8 days last year. It means I never need to pay or even show a receipt. They know it's me and that's it. It's how it should be.
Mind you I spent enough there so that is different too. You guys do get it all for free. My single room was 200 pounds a night!!!!!!! Of course I expect free parking!
I suspect many of you know what I think about Corbyn TrouserPress, and the unpleasant rabble that is the current Labour Party .... But it is absolutely scandalous that people have to pay to park at a so called free hospital.
i suppose the trouble is that some hospitals make up to £3m a year from this horrendous parking charges, so they will all moan that they haven't got any money, and as the government for an extra £3m each to cover the loss.
You can't really fucking win in politics, can you.
Anyway, never mind the sick, it's a tax on popular people like me as I would have plenty of visitors if I was ill, and they would all have to pay to park
Or with the Tories you will eventually have to pay directly for treatment and the parking as well. A society of obese alcoholics is obviously very rational having the Tories polling at 50%.
I don't dismiss the entire electorate, but I do think it fair to say that most people are not genuinely informed when it comes to the most serious issues that will affect their future. I really think it boils down to about 20% of the public really understanding it and a substantial portion of those people with a vested interest in making sure their house price goes up, that their taxes stay down, that they have their private health care, that they have their shares. It's not connected but I was listening to a former Marxist from India who said that it was too difficult to change other people so he changed himself. He became more conservative. I think that is a common pattern. Older people vote conservative, they read the papers, they think Corbyn is a bit bonkers and looks like Worzel Gummidge.
Then there is the rest of the population and you know yourself that a lot of people are not genuinely into politics. A lot of people don't even watch the news. Even fewer actually investigate the truth of the news that they are reading. It's just a reality and I wish it wasn't like that. It's hard to talk politics with some people. I think that is one reason I am socially awkward because I do like to talk about politics, but people generally find it a bit serious and weird. People like to talk about fun stuff and do fun stuff and I get it because I do too sometimes. I like to kill zombies. Most people also have to work 40 hours a week just to pay the rent and feed the kids, so you can't exactly blame them for coming home, having dinner, wanting to watch a bit of TV and then go to bed quite shagged out at the end of a long day. Maybe you would even get drunk as you cannot fall asleep and are depressed. I totally get it.
I know far less than I should but I look back at the me of 10 years ago and I know far more now and I am someone with a degree in politics. I didn't learn a great deal. Pig ignorant in fact. Smart, but knew nothing. All that history and neo liberal filters......what about today and what I should be doing about it? I only started to really learn about that when I got too far away.
I want to be proven wrong, I want to be shocked and astonished. I want Jeremy Corbyn to be the Prime Minister of the UK. It would be the finest thing imaginable. Just as significant as beating the Nazi's in WW2. WW2 was 6 years and brutal, but the neo liberal war has been a long slow burn. The neo liberal war is all many of us have ever known.
You are right again Miles.
There are far too many disenfranchised and do not vote. If they did that could make the difference in Labour winning.
The young have joined Labour in their thousands (but they could be Tory voters) and he has made politics popular again. I hope he wins but I fear he will not.
Maybe Corbyn is too idealistic and sensible to be a prime minister?
Take central banking for instance. Even most people into politics have no understanding of the money supply. None. Zero. I was ignorant too until I really started to read about it a few years back. It's very important stuff, but we don't learn about it in school. In fact much of the relevant and important stuff seems to be missing from curricula. Steve Keen argues that even many people who study economics at university don't really understand it beyond a certain rudimentary level. I certainly don't make any pretence at understanding complex mathematical equations. The numbers of people who really understand things are quite small and I don't pretend to know at that level. Power control systems and their tools of coercion are quite complex. To start chipping away I think people just need to vote for Corbyn, but the real controllers of the universe are the financiers as most politicians eventually discover. The shadowy network that always runs things and never changes with the emergence of a new government. We saw it very glaringly in the case of Greece that completely ignored the will of the electorate. It's not that easy even if you do get your guys in.
Absolutely. It is a start. It's a long shot at Corbyn even getting in, but I fully envisage a full thronged attack if it does happen. Dissent within the party, economic havoc from Brexit, a new global crash, the PTB will not go away quietly. They do not want Jeremy Corbyn anywhere near Downing Street. You see it by constantly saying he is a threat to national security. He does strike a note of fear in them. They know he is not kidding about, but people need to see beyond all of it and to really start understanding the nature of what they are dealing with. Otherwise they will blow Corbyn out very quickly. They are not playing around. Already you have a lot of people mocking him saying he is an idiot. If things go wrong quickly, then will he have the support he needs? The thing is the numbers of people who control the world are few, but they yield all of the weapons that matter: the media, the wealth, the political influence. It's why Blair keeps on popping back with the full support of the media. A man that has been rewarded for his crimes against humanity and treason against country and still he remains free, in the party and able to sow seeds of discontent. You even have a bunch of dummies yearning for the Blairite glory days of tuition fees and war. It's bonkers. You cannot even get Labour supporters to support policies that the Labour party was invented for. :-\

Awesome idea to stop fast food advertising being aimed at children too. It's right, it is not to be a killjoy, but to give children all the advantages they need. I remember at school eating a chicken burger, chips and cherry coke every lunchtime. I wasn't taught anything about nutrition and was allowed to eat what I wanted as a kid even though I did not understand nutrition. It's a form of child abuse really. I didn't know any better.
That was another sensible announcement about junk food being banned and not advertised at children. At my previous work a head teacher at a poor preforming school came in and stopped all the junk food sold at the school from crisps to fizz drinks from the machines. Gradually the school starting performing and gaining a good reputation and he believed it was largely due to the diet.
Another recent issue is children not being fed nutritious meals and schools now have breakfast clubs. Food banks are now too common and overused.
Almost everything Teresa May says (and in some instances does not say) about tackling inequality is a recognition that their party policies have created an unjust society. They will continue to do that.
Nurses have to pay to park their cars at work? My god, that is so outrageous! I had no idea things are getting that bad there. One hospital charges 600 pounds a year. That's a considerable extra tax on someone on 22,000 pounds a year.
Look at Corbyn in this video. No editing, no angles, no catch phrases, just a really solid bloke who cares.

"For the many not the few"
“This election isn’t about Brexit itself. That issue has been settled. The question now is what sort of Brexit we want – and what sort of country do we want Britain to be after Brexit?
"Labour wants a jobs-first Brexit, a Brexit that safeguards the future of Britain’s vital industries, a Brexit that paves the way to a genuinely fairer society and an upgraded economy.
“When Labour wins, the British people win. The nurse, the teacher, the small trader, the carer, the builder, the office worker win."
Theresa May has vowed to end the "injustice" of rising energy bills by promising a cap on standard variable tariffs in the Tory election manifesto.
The prime minister said the market was "not working", with vulnerable people worst hit by "rip-off" bills.
Industry figures have criticised the plan, first announced last month, saying it could lead to higher prices.
Labour, which offered its own bill cap ahead of the 2015 election, accused the Tories of "desperate stuff".
And the SNP described the proposal as an "election bribe".
Under the Conservative proposal, industry watchdog Ofgem would set a ceiling on default standard variable tariffs. These rates are used by seven out of 10 households and are often criticised as bad deals by industry watchdogs.
Mrs May suggested the move could save about 17 million customers up to £100 a year.
According to Citizens Advice, about 800,000 of the poorest pensioners and 1.5 million low-income families with children are on standard variable tariffs.
These households are paying an average of £141 more a year for a dual fuel gas and electricity bill than if they were on the cheapest deal, it said.

One thing I will say about life here and my bills is that it is cheap. Nationalisation works for key utilities. Rents are much cheaper too. Last year 650000 new homes were built too. If Corbyn gets in it can all happen. Internet comes through a company but it's cheap too and supersonic. It's like traveling through a worm hole. I like a lot of things out here and don't see why you can't have it too.
Jeremy Corbyn has said wealthy elites are trying to "hijack" Brexit as he formally launched Labour's campaign.
Speaking in Manchester, the Labour leader promised a reckoning for "tax cheats, rip-off bosses and greedy bankers" if Labour wins the election.
But in a BBC interview, he declined to say whether he would categorically take Britain out of the EU if elected.
Asked by Laura Kuenssberg if he would go through with Brexit if there was a bad deal on the table, he wouldn't say.
The Labour leader earlier told activists that the question of whether the UK would leave the EU had been "settled" and the task now was to act in the national interest and not show "who can be toughest with Brussels".
Although the election was not about Brexit in itself, he said there was a clear difference between his approach and that of the Conservatives, who he said were prioritising narrow party interests.
In what the Conservatives dismissed as an "angry and divisive" speech, Mr Corbyn told activists that his mission was to transform Britain, saying "we have four weeks to take our wealth back and four weeks to show what kind of country we are".
Repeating his argument that the economy was "rigged" against ordinary people, he said a Labour government would take action against asset strippers, tax evaders and those who "ripped off workers and consumers".
"We have four weeks to ruin their party," he said.
Speaking afterwards to the BBC's political editor Laura Kuenssberg, he said that he was angry at levels of poverty and inequality in the country, which he believed were shared by the public.
"They are very angry. They see the growth of the super-rich and very wealthy corporations and they see their communities left behind. Their anger is palpable and I think we have to address that."
Mr Corbyn, who campaigned to remain in last year's referendum but subsequently voted to trigger the Brexit process, said the outcome of the 2016 vote was clear and the next government's job was to get a "good deal" on withdrawal.
But pressed on several occasions whether, as prime minister, he would allow Brexit irrespective of the kind of deal achieved, he declined to say.
"I don't know any more than you what is going to happen in the future but I do know that we are not approaching this from megaphone diplomacy. We are not approaching this from threats... our view is you have to talk to them, negotiate with them and recognise there is quite a lot of common interest."
If elected, he said his negotiating priorities would be guaranteeing tariff-free access to EU markets, ensuring the rights of EU nationals living in the UK and maintaining employment rights such as the working time directive.
"People know there's been a referendum and a decision was made a year ago," he said. "We have set out very clear terms for negotiations... we are negotiating a trade agreement with Europe and protection of the things we have gained from the EU."
In the run-up to Tuesday's speech, Mr Corbyn insisted he would stay on as Labour leader even if the party loses at the general election. He told BuzzFeed: "I was elected leader of this party and I'll stay leader of this party."
Although facing a challenge to win on 8 June, Mr Corbyn told supporters he was determined to show "things don't have to remain the way they are".
He promised decent homes for all, extra funding for schools and vowed to "draw a line" under privatisation in the health service, social care, energy market and the rail network.
Prime Minister Theresa May has attempted to portray the general election as being about Brexit, urging voters to strengthen her negotiating hand in talks set to begin next month.
Conservative chairman Patrick McLoughlin said Mr Corbyn was "too weak to stand up to the leaders of 27 EU countries".
"This angry, divisive and chaotic speech makes clear the choice at this election - strong and stable leadership with Theresa May, or uncosted, nonsensical policies from Jeremy Corbyn," he said.
"He didn't mention the deficit or controlling immigration - because he'd wreck our economy with higher taxes and more debt."
Lib Dem leader Tim Farron, who has promised a second referendum on any Brexit deal, said suggestions the UK's future in Europe was settled was "further proof" of Labour's "inability to stand up to the Tories on the most important issue facing our country".
The SNP said Labour's performance in council elections last week showed any talk of them forming the next government was "utter fantasy".

The brilliant Christopher Hitchens who was anti-ALL-religion but there you have it....ahead of his time.
Jeremy Corbyn
An old grey sod
Looks like a pixie
And smells like a cod
I have long been a fan of Christopher Hitchens, and certainly the most vocal of on this forum, in fact it was my comment to Bilbo on the day of his death defending Hitchens that clearly was one of the reasons for him leaving, but this clearly has nothing to do with the UK general Election.
I stand behind what he says here.
That is called consistency. I have never been a fan of blind multicuturalism or the rather fey and intellectually weak PC idea adopted by you and Brockton that everybody is equal.
That is not the same thing as showing people equal respect when they warrant it.
You aren't remotely cognizant of a pittance of a crumpet so take your barmy bollocks and bugger off.
You stand behind NOTHING Beanz
Why don't you stand behind "blind multicuturalism" IF you can't even tell if other cultures are better or worse? FLIP FLOP motherfucker You are either FOR the multicultural horsecrap or you think each nation has their own cultures and some might be better than others, which is it? Or can you even answer it? I doubt you will, the fucking audacity and smug attitude you have you clutch your fucking pearls and you whine YET you want to go on about blacks gypsies and white heroes get fucked, you're a piece of shit I'm fucking done with your drivel bother someone else
The board is dominated by you pairs American bullshit and you don't even have the decency to let other people in the room talk. You are rude loudmouthed obnoxious simpletons, take it elsewhere there are plenty of threads for fucks sake.
