Looper wasn't bad, a little slow at times though
Has the hobbit been mentioned? Not too bad, but I'm a kiwi so could be biased
Hell, I saw the hobbit and it was a very good elaboration on the book. I think the challenge for Jackson on this one is the opposite of the challenge on the LOTR series. In those films it was a case of choosing what to leave out. Now its a case of taking the story and elaborating using the other material from Middle Earth such as the Silmarillion to expand on the world. Looking forward to meet Beorn in the next film, although frankly I have no idea how they plan on portraying such a magical and elusive character.
Yeah interested to see how they stretch it over 3 films
I'm sure Jackson has some great ideas for Beorn, I'll be waiting to see his bear form. The scene in Underworld where the black guy changes to a werewolf is something I'd use as reference
I watched Born Into This a documentary about Charles Bukowski. What a troubled dude.... man his life shows what kind of pressure and agony it takes to make diamonds
Cloud Atlas.
I expected more from nearly three hours.
The first hour is like watching 6 games of speed chess if you sort of half know the moves but not all the rules.
The middle is like having all the rules explained after the games are mostly done.
It comes together eventually, sort of and has a deepish message. The amount of characters each star plays is amazing once you sit through the credits,so If you do see it, dont walk out till its all over.
5/10
The 1980's classic, Aliens, the Special Edition... James Cameron does a voiceover prior to Special Edition starting... he says this version was what he intended but studios at the time was looking at the length of the movie and he had to make cuts. Why isn't it called "Director's Cut" then? Wonder if it's the studios milking the franchise and the 50th anniversary will see the release of the Director's Cut.
Watched it with my 9 yr old son and he liked it.
Life of Pi , The Hobbit and The Impossible - all very good movies
Klitschko - Had not seen the documentary until last night... It's a def. a good watch. Learned a lot about both guys which I did not know before.
Pitch Perfect - Fucken funny... I strongly recommend watching this.
Identity Thief - It has some really funny moments. It's def. worth watching once it comes out on DVD.
men in black 3 - mindless entertainment, but fairly fun. i missed the killing fields last week on tv, anyone know if its worth a watch?
Oz The Great and Powerful - The best film of 2013 thus far... (Still early) I have to say I was skeptical at first but what a film. The story, the colors, the characters it sucks you right in from the go. You really take the journey the whole way thru. A must see in theatres.
Finally got round to watching the Coen brothers version of True Grit yesterday. Really enjoyed it. Jeff Bridges was excellent as usual and the young lead played her part brilliantly. I loved the original and thought the new version was supposed to be much more faithful to the original novel, and would be very different. I didn't think that was the case. It's now vying with Fargo as my favourite Coen brothers film.
Drive Angry, mindless fun nothing to tax your Brain.;D
Watched Identity Theft, had some funny moments but overall wasn't great
Just re-watched Flash Gordon - The Greatest Adventure Of All. I loved this when I was young!
'Audition' and I'll never look at an Asian girl the same ever again
District 13 (French film) watched it a few years ago, still a great action film
The Croons 3D - Fucken funny... Laughed the whole way thru. A really nice message in the movie as well about family. I def. recommend watching this in theatres.
The Call - 95% of the movie was really good. I mean just suspense and thrill and then the ending comes and just ruins the whole experience/emotions you just went thru. I'd wait for it to hit DVD or online.
Re watched Heat and it does have some interesting plot lines which I did not remember. Pacino is an over actor, De Niro is the coolest guy in the world and I wished he went with his woman and lived happily ever after.
The Great Outdoors, the late John Candy pity the guy was very funny.:)
The last movie that I watched was Mama. It was alright I guess.
Just watched The Flowers Of War, based on events around the 1937 Nanking massacre. Not exactly happy viewing, but a story of great bravery in adversity, and including some truly stunning Chinese actresses.
Watched a few while I was traveling/working away from home.
Gangster Squad - good cast but in truth it's pretty predictable and a bit of a let down. Killed a couple of hours on a train fairly well though. M'eh
Close encounters of the third kind - loved it. If you've not seen it then it is well worth a watch.
Area 51 - typical sci-fi film. Again, killed some time on the train on the way home.
District 9 - fantastic film. Loved it from start to end.
Kick ass - not normally my kinda film but I was pleasantly surprised and thought it was a great flick.
Is Tyson in scary movie 5?
The Hobbit hell them dwarfs can eat, it must be like having Brock round for tea.;D
Used this as the test for watching a 3d movie at home, and while you look like a knob wearing those ridiculous glasses around the house, it actually works almost as well as the cinema. Not sure how its going to be stretched out into a trilogy, but I'm sure Peter Jackson's got it covered.
I watched on Netflix streaming:
Garbage Pail Kids - Absolutely horrible
Nova: Extreme Cave Diving - Pretty amazing footage there
and a documentary about the whaling ship Essex and the culture of whaling in the 18th & 19th century United States. The Essex was sunk by a Sperm Whale and inspired Melville to write 'Moby Dick', but the consequences of the ship being sunk lead to ghastly events such as cannibalism.
The Perks Of Being A Wallflower - A coming of age film with a strong meaning behind it and leaves you realizing that you have to appreciate those around you and the little things in life. An oustanding film.
Today I watched two okay films. Reasonable if not spectacular on each time.
This Means War - a little too much romcom, a little short on action for me. I like Tom Hardy and Chris Pine, so it was reasonably entertaining, and there were a few witty scenes thrown in there.
Olympus Has Fallen - Not since the USSR fell has Hollywood had an all-round evil nation to blame everything on. Fortunately, the new North Korea is filling this space nicely. Gerard Butler kills everything whilst suffering only cuts and bruises in events that would kill most mortals. And he kicks some north korean ass. Fairly fun, a couple of decent one-liners in the script, but the action sequences are all a little jerky and dynamic for my liking - too close to triggering motion sickness in some scenes.
This looks like it should be good. Great Marriage of a brilliant film maker and a fantastic band.

The Place Beyond The Pines - Really enjoyed it. Great drama with an underlining theme of legacy.
Go watch it but don't expect a happy ending!
