Watched Machete it is so over the top that it is good. The Mexican women are truly beautiful.
The Mole man of Belmont Ave. - very funny, stupid but good for a laugh. 2 bums inherit their mother's Apartment complex and have to deal with an unwanted guest.
Pacific Rim
great movie for the kids in us who grew up on Godzilla and Ultraman.
Watched Lon Chaney's West of Zanzibar last night. Pretty good.
I watched, I'm in love with a church girl, i recommend it!
"Horror" classic, 'The Stuff'.......meh, Michael Moriarty's forced Southern accent sucks, but other that is ok.
I have a project of making animated GIF's of the Balisong (aka Butterfly knife) from movies and tv. Have watched some movies recently but didn't post here:
1) Action Jackson - Carl Weathers aka Apollo Creed of the Rocky movies as a cop - one of the last stunts in the movie was so over-the-top it was fun and incredible! Craig T. Nelson of TV's Coach fame as the kickboxing bad guy who gets to see Vanity (ex gf of Prince) topless. Sharon Stone plays Craig's wife and was also topless but she was alone in the scene.
If you like over-the-top 1990's B-fare, this should be up your alley.
2) China Girl - 1980's movie directed by Abel Ferrara (director of King of New York, Bad Lieutenant) - retelling of Romeo and Juliet set in NYC Chinatown/Little Italy - for those that haven't been to NYC or know of it, Chinatown was on one side of Canal Street and on the other side is Little Italy. Was watching only for scenes of the Balisong knife and got sucked right back in watching this again. Worth a watch for Vivian Wu and good story/directing.
3) Kick-Ass I - man, forgot how good Hit Girl was in this!
4) Streets of Fire - one of my faves! 1984 - Walter Hill directed this actioner starring Michael Pare (best known for Eddie and the Cruisers and perhaps TV Series Greatest American Hero) as a hardboiled tough guy - as tough as they come! Rick Moranis (Honey I Shrunk the Kids, Ghostbusters) steals the show IMO as the manager of the voluptuous singer played by Diane Lane (ex-GF of Pare's Tom Cody character). Moranis plays against type and tries to come across as a tough guy with the talk/hardboiled dialogue and is awesome. Willem Dafoe plays the bad guy who fights Pare with sledgehammers in the finale fight!
It has a tagline of "A Rock and Roll Fable" - and delivers on rock and roll on soundtrack - most notably, Fire Inc's "Tonight Is What It Means to be Young" and "Nowhere Fast". One track made Top 40 - Dan Hartman's "I Can Dream About You"
Well worth the watch and listen to soundtrack if this sounds like it's in your wheelhouse
5) Misson of Justice - 1992 B-movie martial arts actioner - Jeff Wincott turns in a good performance both acting-wise and martial arts-wise. Brigitte Nielsen (Beverly Hills Cop, Cobra, Sylvester Stallone's ex-wife) stars as the baddie. Karen Shepherd costars as Wincott's police partner until Wincott was suspended for 2 months for punching his superior officer. He infiltrates the "Peacekeepers" thinking they killed his friend played by Cedric Adams (playing what else, a boxing coach, former champ - and of course you all know him from the Rocky movies - real life, he was a former pro-boxer hence the typecasting).
Action fights are eye-candy, some slick but an above-average actioner and almost a forgettable movie if not for the "Stick Guantlet" scene. Some notable martial arts instructors I recognized - Burton Richardson and Damon Caro (one of the MA choreographers to 300) - both students of the great Dan Inosanto (himself a student of the great Bruce Lee). Wincott has to fight double sticks and run the gauntlet of others with double sticks.
Brigitte seemed not as sexy as she was in Beverly Hills Cops with Eddie Murphy or Cobra with Sly. She has big boobs and many times she was wearing a double breasted suit and it didn't look good.
Of the movies I wrote about in this post, IMO #2-4 are the ones you should watch if it interests you and have not seen before, and actually, they are good for a rewatch also!
If any of you are interested in seeing the GIF's I made of the Balisong knife from the movies/tv, please let me know.
Watched idiocracy, it is stupid funny.
Watched Everything must go starring Will Ferrell, it was good and funny.
World War Z- It underachieved.
Pacific Rim- I frantically looked for a time machine to get that 90 minutes back.
Watched Fracture which was a clever legal drama film starring Antony Hopkins who shoots his wife and tries to get off the charge by clever means but faces a hot shot lawyer.
'Tucker & Dale vs Evil' - that was an AMAZINGLY funny movie. I mean right from the get go it was hilarious. Basically 2 rednecks get mistaken for inbred sociopathic mass murderers and hilarity ensues...let's watch shall we?

Re watched Casualties of War...forgot how twisted that was.
Also The Thin Red line. A -seriously- under appreciated film with great acting, Nolte blows the doors off! Biggest crime was being released in immediate aftermath of Saving Private Ryan and running 3 hrs didn't help. Love that movie!
Speaking of great war movies, I saw the Deer Hunter for about the 10th time a few nights ago. It and Bridge on the river Kwai are completely untouchable imo. For some reason I fucking hate Tom Hanks in anything but I thought Saving Private Ryan was kind of drawn out and cheesy even despite his goofy ass.
A Better Tomorrow..
A prime Chow Yun Fat with a toothpick in his mouth with two .45s in his hands.. It's over..
This used to be my all-time fave movie (including Hollywood movies). Both John Woo and CYF exploding into superstardom after this movie. #2's gun fights were better but the story paled in comparison to #1. Woo had CYF watch Alain Delon in Le Samourai and the rest is history!
Not a big war movie or Tom Hanks fan or Spielberg fan (per se), but I liked Saving Private Ryan. Admittedly I didn't watch some of the classics, and the only other 2 war movies that comes to mind that i liked was Platoon and Dirty Dozen (not really a war movie).
Rewatched Dragon the Bruce Lee Story with Jason Scott Lee last night
forgot how good and how bad it was ... there were moments that Jason looked good doing the moves: on the wooden dummy/mook yan jong - somewhere in middle of the movie after he opens up his school IIRC and like the last scene, he's on top of the wall looking down at the enter the dragon extras and he shadowfights ... those were good, closer to 'real jeet kune do'... then the rest of the fights were acrobatics which would be good if it was a jackie chan movie

Having recently read a book about Wilde, I watched the film Wilde last week. I have watched it several times and have always enjoyed it. I think Jude Law was a really good actor when he had hair. He is wonderfully petulant and horrid as Bosie, who was a spoiled little paedo rent boy addict. The film shows the rise and fall as any great tragedy should be, but as with any man of talent, Oscar was the architect of his own demise, and if only he could have used his guile would not have suffered as he did. He was incredibly smart, but also flirting with danger and was incredibly careless. With hindsight it is easy to frown at the sorry mess, but really Wilde should never have put himself in the position he did. You can't smoke opium with rent boys, carry on with a rich mans son, AND mock the aristocracy all at once. One should be cast aside whilst carrying on with all the others.
Seven psychopaths .
Not too bad kept me interested,probably watch it again if it came up one day. 7or 8/10
Watched Dirty rotten scoundrels too that is one well done movie, a classic clever comedy.
Eyes wide shut. What a strange movie. Kubrick was a genius in his way. I don't think I've seen one of his movies that didn't leave me baffled a bit. The movie is worth watching just to get a look at Nicole Kidmans ass, damn she has a fine ass.
Red 2 & Prisoners
Red 2 is fantastic!
Watched 2012 which was OK.
Bronson was strange and a waste of time
I tried to watch Inglourious Basterds, but had to give up after 45 minutes as it seemed to be part German, part French and part English. I can only assume that it should have subtitles or something, but I was getting a bit annoyed at having to make constant linguistic guesses and so just gave up.
I also watched the original Die Hard for the first time in a long time and really enjoyed it. Alan Rickman was excellent as Hans. I really like my sinister, intelligent, evil characters with a bit of added camp. Bruce Willis was good too, but seemingly less camp and altogether not so evil.
@Master
What? How could you not have liked RED?
I thought it was an underrated film. One of the best I saw that year.
I recently saw RED2 and it was just as good. I really enjoyed both films.
@El Kabong
How about that scene where Don King is pretending to be playing the piano for them only to be exposed that the piano was playing by itself... LMAO.
To think he was almost gonna sign them wonder how different things would have been.
@Master
Can't stand Machete it's so fucken stupid... I've never seen the films but I don't need to, watching the trailers is enough.
@Andre
This movie reminds me of my dad. He came home with it one day when he bought a box of VHS tapes at a yard sale. We put it on and it quickly became a favorite of his.
My little brothers favorite scene is the dinner scene when Steve Martin asks permission to use the bathroom, Michael Caine and his new fiance think he's gonna get up and go but he just sits there and pisses on himself... LMFAO.
@Galaxy
I have to agree I enjoyed both films. The first one I saw it opening weekend at a theatre and it was for the underrated film of that year. I recently saw RED2 and I enjoyed it thourouhgly. Both films are funny, filled with action and a good storyline.
The Perks of Being a Wallflower - Easily one of the best films I've seen. A great story and a very underrated film with no critical acclaims. I strongly recommend it.
Stuck in Love - A must see... I really enjoy films like this one. They just open your eyes and make you realize not to sweat the small stuff in life.
The Internship - It was ok... Not a laugh out loud comedy but worth a one time watch.
Pain & Gain - What a fucken waste of time... 30 minutes in and I was done. It's not even funny and it's not even entertaining.
Now You See Me - It was decent I mean, it kept me interested but it's nothing to rave about.
World War Z - It was good the only thing I didn't like is that everything happened too fast and I felt the film was a bit short. It was like one minute their zombies coming next scene he's in the middle east.
21 - I actually really liked this film. I thought it was a good story and it kept interested the whole way thru.
Rock n rolla. Great watch.:cool:
Dark British circle of crime story in only the way Guy Richie can produce, also funny in a confronting kind of way.
I watched American Gangster again and all I can say it, movie is overrated.. Im going to throw away the dvd.. That's how low I think of it.
Russell Crowe as some squeaky clean, high and mighty cop ( very gay ) and Denzel just acting like Denzel.. so boring.
Im going to watch Road to Perdition... some real gangster shit.. Daniel Craig's character is so fascinating in there.. So dark..
Ive got the best to see list,all from this thread I take down to the video shop for those five weeklys for 5 bucks specials.;)
Im with that.. Im actually about to head out right now for DVD shopping ..it's like a Sunday ritual
I always make 2 stops.. FIrst I go to Best Buys, then to Wherehouse Music.. I know folks nowadays would rather download movies but for a film lover like myself, I got to have the real thing..
IM probably going to get Showtime's Drama series THE BROTHERHOOD 3rd season..
So i just came back from DVD shopping.. Check out the list of movies i got and u guys rank them..
- True Romance
- From Paris With Love
- Homeboy ( Mickey Rourke )
- The Original Scarface with James Cagney
- On The Waterfront
- Streetcar Named Desire
- OZ Season 1
- Brotherhood Season 3
All these are used DVDs from Wherehouse Music so i didnt spend much..
Sexy Beast. Ben Kingsley plays a world class nutter. Brilliant scene where he's shaving and talking to himself.
I watched Departed and did not like it. Leonardo De Caprico just cannot act and looks unreal trying to play a mobster. Mark Walberg was funny as his character but the whole film unravelled poorly at the end.
3000 miles to graceland is very underrated... I highly recommend it..
Im watching True Romance right now and wow this movie is so good.. ive always liked Christian Slater ever since I saw him in Mobsters but this has to be his best work. I never realized how great of an actor Slater was until I saw True Romance again.. he has a James Dean feel, but more of a bad boy..
True Romance mofuckas!,,
