Or what about the Mickey Ward fight? the one where he fought...I forget the name of the guy he fought was it reggie green or something? some prospect on fnf and he pulled out the win in the last round despite losing about every one before that. Nobody talked about controversy there.

May aswell not have the last 14 seconds of a fight (which is when he touched down) if you can't still win the fight at that stage.
I like the way you make it seem as though you and Steele are concerned about Taylors health and that you were showing mercy on him because he was so hurt, truth be told you are just highlighting that as an excuse because you would rather see Chavez victorious rather than lose, neither one of you give a bloody shit about Taylor being hurt.
Re: Who Thinks Meldrick Taylor Was Screwed
It isn't that people give anything about someone being hurt over anyone else. but who wants a fighter to be hurt? I don't and I am sure you don't either., but in general the sport is better when you try and minimize danger to when if a guy is hurt and not able to continue they stop the fight. Had they let Taylor continue, then where would the new standard be for stopping guys? Then if a guy had 10 seconds left and the fight were stopped. guys out here would say, well the Taylor fight continued with 3 seconds and he won the fight. The fact that Steele stopped the fight shows that boxing is a great sport which puts life ahead of wins. It isn't a question whether Taylor would have been hurt physically had they made the fight go on, it is the standard of stopping fights when a guy is finished, If you bend the rules you might as well have one minute left in a fight. That is what Steele was saying, he did not look at the clock. I think that showed alot about boxing. I wanted Taylor to win that night, but I was not mad at Steele or upset with him. and I was not upset with Taylor, he fought the fight of his life. But if anyone has to blame it is Taylor for getting caught with the big punch in round 12 and it is Duva's fault for always being so hot headed and jumping in the corner distracting Taylor and making him look to his right.. But Taylor was wearing out gradually in the fight.

Yes he was wearing out, he had given so much energy throughtout the fight kicking Chavez's ass up and down the ring. We are not talking about the standard time limit when stopping the fight, we are saying that Taylor's condition was not bad enough for the fight to be stopped at that point, people talk about swallowing blood and broken eye orbitals, this is boxing not baseball, those kind of things happen all the time why are you guy's making it seem like that is not ordinary. The point is that Taylor got up on the count of 4, he didn't get up like Zab Judah wobbling around the ring, if he would of I would have said yes the fight should have been stopped, but the way he got up was in no way to the condition that the fight needed to be stopped especially at two seconds. And check the boxing history, Pernell Whitaker kicked Chavez's ass worse than Taylor did and they called it a draw, he also had gift decision's vs Frankie Randall, coincidence NO. Steele also had other questionable stoppage's, coincidence NO.

...You know me so well ::** Read all the posts and you will see that I said I wanted Taylor to win - I was always rooting for JCC to lose !!!
I am just objective and realise that the time is nothing to do with it - infact my reason for thinking the stoppage was right was not even about Taylor's health, it was about what is just and fair and what the rules are.
...anybody that thinks that a fighter should be helped becuase of the time that a stoppage occurs, based on the fact that they were winning has a pretty strange view of how boxing works

Obviously you did not read my post up top when I clearly stated that time has nothing to do with it, it was the condition of the fighter, he was not wobbling around the ring like Zab Judah he got up on the count of 4 and was looking at Duva, Steele knew that and you knew that too, but it makes it really bad when not only did it not deserve to be stopped but he kicked the guy's ass the whole fight and on top of that it was two seconds to go, the time does not matter but it just put's the cherry on top of the cake. I don't give me that "and was voting for Taylor crap" everybody say's that to hide the fact that they knew Chavez got lucky and you don't want to seem Bias.

Don't worry Ice Cold life is good, I am not going to fall into this guy's little game, how can someone who voted for Taylor defend Chavez so fiercely in this thread, if you agreed with the stoppage that's fine, maybe make 1 or 2 post stating that, but this guy continues to defend it like the Nazi's defended Berlin at the end of WW2, he's fanatical about it, that does not sound like someone who was voting for Taylor, I think he insulted everybody's intelligence with that one.

You act like Steele's the only ref to have a questionable stoppage. It happens to ref's ALL THE TIME!! Mention how great a job Steele did in the first Eubank vs. Benn fight. Or the Corrales Mayweather fight

Corralles Father thru in the towel against Mayweather..... ;) But this stoppage in question is the most controversial in Boxing history IMO... The other that was strange was Camacho jr against Andrey Tsurkan back in June when Tsurkan had him on the ropes and Camacho wasnt fighting back...Not because he was hurt but because he wasnt being active and fighting back so the ref stopped it

I no longer am trying to convince these individuals JT, we can't change their minds and they can't change ours, it's sad that people don't think he deserved to go on after the performance he put on, it was dazzling.
Re: Who Thinks Meldrick Taylor Was Screwed
For me it's a fight to the death, no tongue in cheek. This ain't cricket, it's boxing. I personally would rather die, in the ring, than lose a fight. That's what i miss about boxers from previous eras. They had stones, not pussies.
