Well if that's true, then there goes the last remnants of Calzaghe's (well just his fans really) "Well Kessler had a mandatory, so it couldn't happen" excuse.
It does surprice me though. Andrade is as far as i can tell still ranked no. 1 by the WBC at SMW. Doesn't seem likely that he would abandon it now when he's finally very close to a title-shot.
Even IF he doesn't fancy his chances against Kessler. Wouldn't he give it his best shot?
If in fact it is true - then where does it leave Kessler?
Bute, inkin and.... ..Froch ::** are among the secondary ranked at WBC - who's gonna get a mandatory... and when?
(Bute would in my opinion be clearly the biggest threat)
I also heard a rumour that Woods were in talks with the Kessler camp about a fight at LHW. Is it even remotely possible that Kessler would abandon his titles for a Woods fight just yet?

After his fight against Grant about 2 days later I saw an interview where he said he felt he was gonna be ignored by ALL the SMW who hold belts, he said he was willing to move up in weight and see if anyone there would be willing to give him a shot, it could be just him trying his luck but moving up and down in weight is not good for him...

Hmmmm. Strange.
They had to PAY him to step back and let the Beyer-Kessler unification happen. He's still the WBC mandatory. Don.t see how he could be continiously ignored there.
Unless Kessler would pay him off again (and he agree to it), I don't think the WBC would allow him to be passed by again. And that would only happen for a real major fight (like Calzaghe-Kessler - which we all know isn't gonna happen).
Don't really see the logics in it.
Re: CALZAGHE v MANFREDO -It's official- 3/03/07 Millenium Stadium-Wales
Absolutely pathetic Joe!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I expect Joe to win but I think Manfredo will make it a harder fight than what most will expect. Besides Manfredo is suppose to have a pretty hard head, so Joe's hands may not be as safe as everyone thinks they will be. I really want Peter to win this, so we can have a champion that is willing to fight the hard fights.
>:mad THIS REALLY JUST BLOWS THOU!!!!!!!!!1 >:mad
Re: CALZAGHE v MANFREDO -It's official- 3/03/07 Millenium Stadium-Wales
He's going to Murder Manfredo! What the hell is the point of this fight. I lost a bit of respect for Joe over this one. He should be fighting Kessler.
Once again, they're trying to play the race-card by matching Italian vs. Italian. ::**

Looks like the kessler fight wont take place any time soon.

Over the past few weeks I’ve noticed an increasing number of Kessler fans posting critical comments of Joe Calzaghe in the Forum.
I understand and sympathise with your frustration that Mikkel Kessler will not be given the opportunity to box a true champion but Kessler has little to offer in contrast to the American greats.
Kessler hasn’t boxed anyone of particularly good stature, is practically unknown in the United States of America and has a small following of fans.
It is Joe Calzaghe’s objective to win over his American audience and defeat globally recognised boxers like Manfredo, Taylor and Hopkins. Once Joe Calzaghe has achieved these objectives he will then consider taking Kessler’s supermiddle weight titles. With a monolithic following of Americans and Britons the Calzaghe v Kessler fight would then gain an audience of monumental proportions but until then Kessler will have to wait.
If you wish to comment on this article please go to the forum and look for the subject, “Calzaghe snubs Kessler”.
Calzaghe will go down in my estimations if he retires without facing Kessler.

This has indeed dropped Joe down a notch...something that no hater has been able to do in over 4 years.
This makes no sense. The money & prestige lies at Kess's feet.
Still a fan...but totally disgusted.
Yes,Apparently Calzaghe will do whatever it takes to avoid Mikkel Kessler. I am sure that if Kessler (impossible, but lets imagine it..) became mandatory to his WBO belt - I am 100% he would drop that too
Re: CALZAGHE v MANFREDO -It's official- 3/03/07 Millenium Stadium-Wales
This will make you guys laugh
This stieglitz chap is JC`s WBO mandatory now
Calzaghe gave up the IBF and his infamous words were HBO couldnt sell a JC Siteglitz fight but guess what Joe you`ve got to fight him anyway if you want to keep your belt

That is hysterical!!! ;D ;D American greats!!!! Then the people they name are not even at SMW, except for a potential contender!!!! UnF*****believable!!!!!!
Boy am I glad they cleared that up, now I really think that this is a smart fight. It does so much for Joe's legacy that he will most likely be inducted into the H.O.F. right before the fight. Because of this astonishing grand idea of a fight for Joe they will bypass all of their rules just to make sure he gets in!!!

As stupid and lame as this fight is they did mention it on "entertainment tonight" (a gay 30 min tv show about tv and movie "stars"). They never mentioned Joes name but did say Manfs name..(the whole thing lasted 15 seconds)........ :P
Gay fight. Is there an award for "homo fight of the year"????????? ::**

Can\'t believe they actually mentioned Manfredo with Taylor, much less Hopkins. What a joke

???
Sounds a bit hollow when you compare it with what he has to say about his ultimate goals on his very own website:
http://www.joecalzaghe.com/history.asp
"Joe’s ultimate goal is to unify all the Super Middle Weight titles and become a 2 weight world champion, only time will tell if he achieves his goals"
So now that life-long goal is no longer his goal ::**
Well - Joe, a shot at your "ultimate goal" was right there in front of you, but you didn't want it. What a load of crap
