Re: Who is the top prospect-prodigy in boxing?
I don't think i have seen this Lee and Povetchkin fight, but i think Khan is a major prospect.
I know alot of amartures who do well in the Olympics are sometimes overrhyped. but even at this early stage i hink kahn is going to go on and do great things. He remindes me some what of a young zab judah who can think for him self and keep focus. He has superb speed, carrys good power. He looks to be very fit and will become fitter. As of yet there are no questions over his chin, it hasn't really been tested either in fairness.
Over the next few years kahn well develop into a world champion and be a p4p fighter before he is 25. With joel getting on in years i see Khan being the futre of lightweight and can go as far as welter.

He has the right trainer, Emanuel Steward.
I heard he schooled or beat up Taylor in sparing all the time.
He was also the only sparring partner to hang with Cintron.
What's with his name, he's not chinese?
I could have chose Amir Kahn too. Probably should have chose him.
The last fight I saw, he was brilliant.
I wouldn't choose Andre Berto. He's just waiting to be beaten badly... Every
fighter is, but with Andre it seems like he's in love with is explosive power already.
He's learning, but I think Amir and Andy will learn faster than him in the long run.
Chavez Junior has the pedigree and the promoter in Bob Arum. He has the sparring,
direction, team, father, maybe even genetic advantage ... but I think boxing is more than all of those combined.
In the end, it always comes to personal mental toughness. You can't teach that or buy that.
It's a personal decision. His father had it, but chances are "Junior" doesn't have it.
i think you are right with Lee and Kahn but....
berto has superb balance and i mean excellent balance... power in both hands.. you might be surprised by him
Chavez junior is already making a name for himself as a vicious body puncher and a very hard jab(i heard he knocked some one out with a jab) of course he has great genes and good heigth and frame.. you might be surprised by him too..
I cant wait to see Lee though he is going to probably be battling kessler and pavlick in 3 or 4 years for the SMW crown... i've heard froch is really good too...
also people on here maybe underrating povetchkin a little..
i think he will win a title and will probably be the dominate heavy after klitchko retires... he may soon w. klitch's retirement up a couple years if he keeps on improving...

A tough guy with a great jab will beat him easily.
Lee and Kahn have more versatility because I feel that they will learn more.
Just the way I feel at the moment. Berto takes his time for a twenty-three year old.
He's strong, but so was Jeff Lacy. Not saying he fights like Lacy.

do you know these 5 boxers???
Re: Who is the top prospect-prodigy in boxing?
I am most impressed so far with Andy Lee
Re: Who is the top prospect-prodigy in boxing?
I sparred with andy when he was in the amateurs. He was on the way out as i was comin up, so we never fought.
In the amateurs he used no power and simply used his skills.
Now as a pro he seems to be using a different style completely, so i say andy as he seems to have a rapidly expanding repotoire
Re: Who is the top prospect-prodigy in boxing?
Lee
Khan
Berto
Dirrell
Santana
Stark jr
Gato Figueroa
All good up and coming fighters

out of all the european prospect in years he seems to be around the best cast of people that could get him to his peak...
being w/ manny is excellent for some one of his age... i think he has trained in crunk gym in chicago, and has sparred w/ high quality people...
manny picks good fighters to train (imo) so that in itself is his biggest sign of his level of skill to me...
Re: Who is the top prospect-prodigy in boxing?
I'm surprised how good Kahn is doing in the poll...
I thought Berto and Lee would blow the others away..
Also did you guys notice that chavez jr. and arce was at castillo's side in the ring?? i didnt notice it until i watched the replay...

I think Jose Luis is pretty tight with the chavez crew lol
Re: Who is the top prospect-prodigy in boxing?
Perhaps having just defended the Euro title for a third time, he's beyond prospect but Bernard Dunne is a guy to watch out for.
Savvy boxing skills, Power, Serious Speed, Amazing Accuracy and a little bit of a suspect chin make him a hugely exciting fighter.
Over here he is already attracting huge media attention and his personality makes him a love him/hate him fighter. Hitting the world scene soon.

Yeah definitely. Him and Steve Molitor are the future of the super bantweight division imo, both terrific prospects.
