cotto looked good against carlos quintana (a prospect who beat an ultra-green julio and has gotten all the praise in the world) but he gets p4p status by many.
howd he look against corely?
torres?
zab beats the latest bob arum hype machine with a tko inside of 10 (winning at least 8 rounds on the way) or at the very worst, it ends in a lopsided decision in favor of zab
Thats a bold statement.
bold, yet strong

Honestly, you can't compare the Cotto of today against the Cotto against Torres. He has grown exponentially since then. He's not just a guy who bullrushes inside with earmuffs on and hopes not to get hit. I used to be as down on Cotto as anyone but he really is a changed and complete fighter.
Zab on the other hand is not a complete fighter. He's just not a very good fighter and a fighter who's will has been broken time and time again when faced with any sort of relentlessness. The last guy he beat who actually tried to fight him was Rafael Pineda. And an old and past his best Pineda almost beat Zab. Before that it was Corley. That fight was just as close as the Pineda one.
You go at Zab, he crumbles.

he lost to tszyu (a prime tszyu ;)) once....................... kosta didnt want any part of a rematch
he lost on points to spinks (one of the slickest boxers in the sport today, but had that fight lasted 30 more seconds then spinks wouldve been koed FOR SURE) but crushed him in the rematch
he had an off night against baldomir (dont forget that mayweather/judah was already a done deal at the thomas & mack here in vegas, so needless to say he was looking past a fighter that was well prepared) although i still think that zab won that fight
and he lost to the best fighter of this era on a decision, but looked like the best welterwight ive seen for a VERY LONG TIME in the beginning portion of the fight
and people are actually screaming about miguel cotto because he beat............................... carlos quintana???
seriously??
judah exposes cotto for the the super overhyped propect/arum hypemachine (remember margarito a few months ago?) that he is
cotto isnt ready and its gonna show
easy work for zab O0
Re: If Margarito Cotto does not come off,Cotto may face...Judah?!
People aren't screaming for Cotto because of who he's beat. Because of how he did it.
Why in the hell would Tszyu sign off a rematch? He KO'd him in the second round. Because Judah got a questionable decision against Corley 2 fights later?
Funny you didn't bring up Pineda or Corley. Off night against Baldomir? More like Baldomir broke his will. He was fighting like the Zab Judah of every other night til he got caught. And he lost the fight. Even the biggest of Judah fans admit that.
He looked like a great welterweight in the opening rounds against Mayweather? You mean when Mayweather sat back and let him get off? He looked like a guy facing someone who was feeling him out. 3 and a half rounds and then he was done.
Zab better keep chasing Mosley, Mayweather and Margarito, at least they might not break him down entirely. The guy just isn't a very good world class boxer. I'm sure he'll blow Pito out the same way he did Cosme Rivera. But put him in with a B level fighter and he'll be done for.

Excellent posting,CC in 24 brother.
Re: If Margarito Cotto does not come off,Cotto may face...Judah?!
Mayweather didn't sit back on the peanut head. He was trying to press action too much which allowed Judah to counter him and Mayweather changed up his strategy in the later portions. Mayweather wasn't feeling him out by going after him he was trying to knock him out(thats what I thought he was trying) but then he settled down and started breaking him down and probably would have stopped him if he didnt get hit low.
Even the best(like Cotto or Hopkins or Barerra and even James Toney and Erik Morales and Roy Jones) have had nights where they look absolute shit. And I don't think it's fair to single out one fighter for his bad performances against opponents he was supposed to walk through. I know Zab's a fucker for half stepping in and getting his ass handed to him by Baldomir. But other fighters do that and I don't see them get half the flack. Like Barerra, who got his first two losses because he half stepped in, he looked great against Morales and Hamed because he trained his ass off. But then he half steps in with Pacquiao and gets beat and then he looks great against Ayala and against Morales and then half steps against Juarez and almost gets beat and then comes into the second fight serious and dominates Juarez. I'm not telling anyone to back off of judah but it just looks like people like to single him out for his lapses in concentration and his non spirited efforts sometimes when fighters greater then Zab have done the same. But probably the case is that they still found a span of time to become great in their lapses, like Zab's was when he became undisputed champ and didn't take advantage of it.
Of course then we have the "He's a fuckin prick he put his glove in Jay nady's and he hit baldomie in the pre fight introductions"
But Paul Spadafora is known for his drunken rants his drug use and SHOOTING HIS FUCKING GIRLFRIEND AND GOING TO JAIL and about everybody is happy that he is coming back and I don't see anyone on here giving him flack other then the 'people make mistakes' stuff. Maybe it's just sour grapes because I have a hard time grasping forgioveness for someone who shoots their girlfriend and takes their fame and almost fucks it up on drugs and alcohol. But still, I hope my point isn't lost in that :(
So I'll watch Zab Judah's next fight to see if he can re-establish himself, but he can't do it against this person he's fighting who I forgot the name of. But I've seen people around the forum say that this guy is going to beat Judah or knock him out. I just hope that IF and its a big IF Zab wins that we all give him the respect for THAT win but don't announce he's back to the greatest welterweight or something like that.
I hope we can all agree on that

Yes other good/great fighters have had nights where they look crappy, but the big difference is that the majority of those nights they won. The comparision with MAB is off, MAB lost to Pac-man which isnt as if he lost to some nobody, it was PACMAN!! He half stepped in with Juarez and squeecked out a very close W (imo could have gone either way). I understand your point just feel that you picked out the wrong fights/fighters to compare Zab too.
Zab has the tools and talent to be a great fighter, but he is just missing something that will allow him to get there. IMO his ten cent head gets in his way. Even a completely focused Zab loses to Cotto. Cotto slowly breaks him down for a late stoppage.
Re: If Margarito Cotto does not come off,Cotto may face...Judah?!
I don't think Cotto has the mental strength that Mayweather does but that's just my opinion. It wasn't compusure that got him through against Torres it was his lack of composure that got him hurt a bunch of times, it was Cotto's heart and power and better skill that got him through that fight.

You can't be giving Judah the mental edge....

Zab exposes Cotto?
LMAO
You mean like Malignaggi exposed cotto?
Malignaggi was supposed to be super fast and untouchable in the ring. (he is and was) if you know what I mean.
People like you said Cotto was slow and that he would get exposed, that he was one dimmensional blah, blah, blah.
Cotto was catching Paulie over and over again. What happend to Pualies foot and hand speed? Cotto's power was too much for the kid in the early rounds. Paulie got dropped.
Now you might want to argue that Paulie lasted 12 rounds but you have to consider that Cotto was done in 140. Not only was he done but he broke his hand in the 5th. Considering all of this, did you see Paulies face? Did you see it? I am not trying to make any excuses for Cotto because he beat the shiet out of Paulie. Now just imagine what Cotto would do to zab?
I said Cotto would take Zab out in 1 if he wanted to but that is not Cotto's style. Cotto is patient and that is what I like about him. He slowly chops down his opponents until they bow down or their corner waves a towel ;) or if it goes the distance, you can hardly tell it is the same person Cotto was fighting and they look like they ran into a brick wall face first ;D
Zab got floored and queered by Kostya Tszyu and if Cotto wanted to, he could do the same.
[stream=380,320]http://sergiomora.net/php-nuke/vids/superzab.wmv[/stream]
Zab got beat by Carlos Manuel Baldomir. LMAO
Old, slow azz and hits like a girl Carlos Manuel Baldomir.
Cotto's camp has been training Cotto for slick, fast fighters like Zab, Paulie and PBF for a very long time. Cotto is more than ready. Cotto is not one dimensional but you would not know this since you have only seen 3 of his fights. He has more weapons in his arsenal than you think.
While Zab is busy avoiding those body shots, Cotto will just break Zab's face and give him something else to worry about.
No matter how Cotto and his team decide to fight this match, Cotto wins.
People are not screaming about Cotto over Quintana but it was an impressive win over a young, undefeated, slick, fast, southpaw with heavy hands. (mind you it was cottos debut at 147)
Did you see when Cotto switched up and starting fighting southy? He said to Quintana. I am a converted south paw and I am going to show you a little something, something here.
The rest was history.
If I were Zab, I would avoid Cotto unless Zab want's to be out of the ring for another year licking his wounds and waiting for them to heal or get's medically cleared.

The Corley fight was NOTHING like the Pineada fight. Zab broke Corley's will, had him imtimidated, and clearly won the fight. He took Pineada lightly on the other hand, much like Baldomir and escaped with a gift decision. There is no comparing the two. Also Pineda was a great fighter at one time.
