What isn't a IF is the FACT that the fight was offered and turned down by Naz.

If Naz caught Marquez with the same right hand that Barerra did then Marquez wouldn't have gotten up. As impressive as JMM was the other night he still got tagged plenty and punched a lot and I think Naz hit harder and was faster then Barerra(doesn't make him a better fighter but thats just what I think his advantages are) And especially Barerra at this point in his career Hamed had better knee jerk reflexes then Barerra. I still think Barerra's a better fighter, but Naz does have those advantages and it would have been a rough night for mr marquez, especially if he was hit near 250 times.

The thing is that Barrera outboxed NAZ, then Marquez outboxed Barrera. A well skilled defensive boxer can almost nullify a speed advantage.

250 times over 12 rounds just over 20 times per round isn't so bad against Barrera.

When he was younger he may have had skill to burn, but he didnt use it as well as he does now, I'd say he wasn't as experienced in those situations and wasn't in his prime(like he is now), mental prime is wonderful too and just because you're younger and stronger at 25 doesnt mean to me you're a better fighter then you are at 31, know what I mean? I think he's much much much better now then he was back then.

I think the JMM now would have a better shot against Hamed then the Marquez of 7 or 6 years ago. Agreed?

naz of then or today would have had zero chance against jmm of then or today.

Wait, but you just finished ripping into the fact that 'todays' JMM got hit 250 times....
I can assure you the JMM from that time would not get hit 250 times against anyone....
Anyway... as I keep repeating the fight was turned down by Naz and in my books that makes JMM the winner of this hypothetical match up by default...

I know, but that was my response to the poster saying he was a defensive master or something(my response was him getting hit multiple times)

But by that(and this time) he had already went through all his trials of fire(Pacquiao, John etc) and he fine tuned all those things about himself and became a better and more experienced fighter. Do you get what I'm saying? If you don't I'll try to say it better. Marquez years ago in my opinion isn't a better fighter then he is now. That's just my opinion though.

That is because he purely counters. thats his problem againts norwood and to a certain degree againts the 'running man'. he's added an attack mode in his arsenal. he maybe stronger and faster then but he attacks better now

I think so too.

he needs a pure brawler to shine when he was younger. now he can deal with boxer-puncher/ counter punchers and of course his specialty againts pure attackers like pac. ( PAC kayoes him though if they meet again :D )
