....I think it was more Don King's letting him do what he wants that fucked up Tyson
I don't think it could've been avoided. After what he went thru as a kid and how he grew up it was only a matter of time before he lost it.
Well it could have been handled better.
While Cus D'mato prepared Mike for the trials and tribulations he would go through in the ring he completely ignored what Mike was going to do once he was too old to fight.
Teddy Atlas has said that Cus let Mike get away with some stuff at school as well as with his relatives and that Tyson was never disciplined for any of his wrong doings, he had no accountability.
Now I know Teddy ain't the best authority on Tyson in regards to not using his run ins with Mike to affect his opinion of the guy but I think it's pretty much true.
Think about the situation, you have an old guy searching for one last bit of glory, one last shot at the big time and along comes this prodigy who is ALREADY in trouble at 13...it's simple, Cus let him slide but kept him fighting so as to not let the world see the Mr. Hyde of Mike Tyson. Cus probably had the intentions of making Mike a good gentleman but he never pushed Tyson to do that....he was nice in the begining but then he really became Sonny Liston
most boxers grow up and have bad things happen to them dont mean u have to turn into nutter does itQuote:

Mike was greater and proved it holding the title 9 times and having 11 title fights in a little over 3 years. Klitchko did that kind of numbers? And Mike was undisputed so he had to fight the best in the division. Klitchko picks and choses who he wants to fight as do all the other heavyweights. Now is the time to be a heavyweight. Guys like Toney and Jones can win titles at this weight just because they pick the worst champion in the division who stylewise cannot compete with them and win a title. But I will never think that Jones beating Ruiz was a great accomplishment. I knew he could beat Ruiz. Jones is so much better. Ruiz in Tyson's era wouldn't have even been a tough fight for Tyson or Holmes. Tyson would have knocked out the best Ruiz in one round and at the most 2.. I just think the Tyson of 86-90 was sharp and fast and almost unbeatable. Mike beat himself, but I am not sure anyone could have beaten him in those years with the exception of Foreman, who stylewise matched up well to Mike.
man!! long running post!!
I thought at first this post was a joke but i see that some people actually think that Tyson today could beat Klitchko today.
Thats amazing to me! Tyson proved he cant beat anybody now!
hes done worse than a burger cooked for a health inspector at Jack-in-the-Box during National E-Coli awareness week!! DONE!!!
He will never get back to his old style/shape becouse its impossible!!!
Maybe Ali should try a comeback??? hey if he got in shape!!!!??
that being said,now...the old tyson, the berbick tyson???
I think he'd destroy any fighter today that he could hit and hurt, and thats all of them. Holyfield glued his right hand to the side of his head (which is made of concrete) and gave up 14.7 billion brain cells to beat tyson. Klitchko has been hit and hurt bad by way slower and lighter hitting guys so i say tyson (of old) KO's him .An in shape Toney is too small for tysons power.
Valuev......maybe??? could it be??? hes real????? at 7'3" and 350#
i dunno it would be kool!! I hope the big freak learns to jab and stand up straight and use his shoulder.....to.......well.....learns to box i guess...but thats a fantasy. maybe worse than a tyson comeback..so.. i guess we're all guilty!! lol!!
lol :coolclick: for the jack-in-the-box line. I've accepted tyson is done. I also thought holyfield was years ago but hey stuff happens. Prime Tyson vs an in shape toney might actually have been a good fight. As for Prime Tyson vs Valuev (i think thats what you were getting at) tyson goes to the body and this one ends pretty quick.*Quote:

I posted long to prove a point. Tyson was a great fighter and Klitchko is a joke who is benefitting from abnormally big size and a weak division.
Wlad would beat the same people Mike Tyson beat in the 80's....no doubtQuote:

Tony Tucker didn't have enough power....no one is going to outbox Wlad unless they have a chin and some pop
