Sounds like the HBO commentary was ultra negative, maybe that had a little influence over some people.
Totally agree with you Fenster i didn't think it was a bad fight at all i quite enjoyed it.
there were still a lot of action there considering it became a tactical fight. had both fighters gone all out in the last round it wouldn't have been such a let down. i guess pac was satisfied taking the win while barerra with not being ko'ed as everyone expected.
CC,I think you nailed it with the last sentence. MAB was happy not to get knocked out,Manny was content with the UD,it made for a dour affair. I don't think 1 big mast round would have made up for it but it dam sure would have helped.

Correct & MAB will be living that down for his entire career.
Barrera could have gone out there & done some damage. He stung Pac a few times & personally I think that Pac was there for the taking. His conditioning just seemed a bit lax...but it is what it is & we got what we got...for what...$49.95?
Holy shit...my wife's gonna have me balls.
Ahhhhhhh who'm I kiddin'...she already does. ;D

I watched it without the commentary, just to make sure. I think it's because you're a hardcore MAB fan. No offence, but he didn't impress.
marco was fit but the way he fought made it a dull fight considering pac was the opponent. i think with his conditioning he would have given any other fighter a run for their money. the thing is he didn't want to end his career on his ass against pac.

He may very well have given any other fighter a run for their money but that's not the point bro. It wasn' any other opponent,it was Manny, and it made for a poor fight. You have to remember,we had the luxury of not spending $50 on this. Alot of folk did.
Re: Did you enjoy the Manny fight? I didnt, both fighters looked poor....
for what the ppv of pac mab 2 cost, its not at all bad considering what we usually get for ppv. I don't see why people think it was a bad fight, it wasn't that exciting yes but come on. If we wine about this fight we should wine about every other ppv fight we get. I don't care what people say, that fight was not bad it was a good scrap between two legendary fighters. What people are missing out is the way pac beat mab in a technical match and he has earned his very first decision in the divided states of america. For me that fact and the fact that it is mabs last fight was one classical fight and will be remembered more so than the first one because the wild tiger pacman defeated marco in his raw style in the first battle and then he defeated marco in marcos' pace and prefered technical match. That there is what makes the fight so GREAT, it is not about knock downs or knock outs, it is about one great fighter defeated by the next great fighter and in a new way, almost like a twist in to history or an awakening and death of legends.
you guys really need to see the beauty of that fight ;) and quit being barbarians always wanting violent k.o's and gore ;D

I thought Barrera only lost by a couple of rounds so saw it as competitive throughout. Maybe that's why i enjoyed it more than most.
You may have a point though, I see Barrera as being lightyears past his best, was expecting him to take a beating, and very pleased that didn't happen.
LOL,you were watching the Setanta broadcast. I thought it was a fairly close fight too whilst watching it with them. Watch it without the sound,it was not close. Secondly, here's what MAB said in the aftermatch interview with Setanata(got this from another site)
Said to mario lopez "I have no problems with the loss. People were saying i'll get knocked out in 3 rounds but I was in there for 12 rounds. And I'm very very happy."To me,that epitomizes his philosophy for the fight,to survive. It's like he's saying I survived 12 with Manny.Fighting to survive, not to win. That's my take on it.
exactly what happened with manny not really having it in him to go for the ko knowing he's not a 100%.

come on julius, you know that's what we're here for... the violence and gore. ;D
Re: Did you enjoy the Manny fight? I didnt, both fighters looked poor....
all in all, I'm satisfied with the fight. I have seen that Manny can win a UD even with a technical fighter like MAB. As a fan of Manny, I'm contented with his performance. DEfinitely, his defense has improved. His balance was a little off because MAB was going backwards and Pacquaio was "gigil" (as we say it in Filipino) for a brawl.
Hope Pacquaio tests his abilities with Valero. If he loses against Valero, it might give him back the will to concentrate on boxing rather than being on TV in a comedy show. Definitely, Pacquaio is not fit in showbusiness as he was not fit in Congress.
Re: Did you enjoy the Manny fight? I didnt, both fighters looked poor....
That fight sucked.....neither looked like they wanted to win the fight by k.o. What pissed me off, was Barrera actually landed decent shots when he decided to trade. I saw Manny backup a bit, but once he would come back forward, Barrera would go back on his bike. If he wanted to eeeek out a points win, he really needed to increase his output alot.

yea mab would at times get the best of the exhanges just like in the fight but right after the round his corner screamed at him for going to war, then when mab was clearly behind in the fight then they tell him to be more aggressive. I think the corner confuse mab, mab was very hesitant he didn't come in well decided what he will do. it seem like it was a mabman that wanted part of it to be like the hamed fight and the other like the eric fights. I also think mab still had the san antonio 1st fight in his mind that made him scared or very cautious.

marco was also cautious not to gas out. he said after the fight that he got tired cos he made the mistake of mixing it with manny at several instances, stating he should have just boxed all through out the fight.
Re: Did you enjoy the Manny fight? I didnt, both fighters looked poor....
mab came in with too many plans and not enough will to execute any of them

I agree. He didn't seem to fight with any sort of motivation or fire,he was just strolling along.

some commentators said MAB just wanted to survive.
