Hatton will give Cotto the do's and don'ts vs Floyd which will also help out a lot...between that and what ODH did vs PBF then I would say Miguel has a good couple fights to study.
Floyd isn't perfect, he's damned good but he hasn't messed up vs a fighter like Cotto if he gets caught he'll feel it and won't recover quickly
Oh wacko when will you learn? Cotto UD vs MayweatherQuote:

I HATE mayweathers style but it wins him fights and is effective against fighters who chase him around the ring, thats when he feels at home. Cotto can beat everyone in the division with the exception of Mayweather and DLH, because they would pick him apart...

To say Floyd will win is easy to see, but to say Cotto has no chance is straight up "player hating." Word.
You being serious Donny? Cotto KTFO him out late for me and as surprised as I am,I've seen ALOT of Hatton fans here acknowledge that Cotto would beat their boy.
When Cotto goes to the body, Floyd sticks him and moves
Ya im pretty serious.Quote:

Cotto at Light Welter is no reflection on Cotto at Wlter, the debacle against Torres i feeel was largely down to youth and weight problems. Both issues are now irrelevant at Welter.
However, Rickyhas a number of -i won't call them weapons as they are not offensive-implements in his tool box which i feel would enable him to dismantle the Cotto pressure machine.
1) Miguel is accustomed to being the one chasing, Ricky even when defensive minded is Still planted firmly in front of you, he covers the body well with the elbows and since he has integrated uppercuts into his new scheme, he is very effective on the inside. I have noticed that Miguels best bodywork is done whilst moving in. His rhythm would be upset by an opponent stuck Chest to chest with him. Same tactic as the Tszyu fight i guess.
2) I have also noticed that Miguel hangs back when taking a breath between attacks, this is an excellent idea and theoretically brilliant as althouigh he never moves back he takes nice little rests. (We saw him get caught as a result v Malignaggi and Zab) Ricky takes his breaks up close by hanging on, this in my view would be detrimental for Cotto as Ricky would be pon him, preventing him from resting and also imposing his weight on Cotto while he himself grabbed some time.
3) The best prepared Hatton can throw some wicked combinations (and land) i feel Miguel is a more one punch guy. I feel that Ricky outboxes him and with his chin survives everything. I don't want to go on with this post forever, but i do feel that Ricky has a good foil in Cotto and should he drop the fight to Mayweather he should chase Miguel
But again, it would be a fight with two of my very favourites clashing.
To be honest,I'm not going to debate with you about for a number of reasons, the main 1 being that when even super hardcore Hatton fans admit Cotto would beat him,I have nothing more to say. And you make a number of slightly misguided points to say the least(no offence)
A few of these are
feel Miguel is a more one punch guy(Cotto has never been a 1 punch guy,in fact he puts 2s and threes together as well as anyone out there, watch the Judah fight)
preventing him from resting and also imposing his weight on Cotto while he himself grabbed some time. Miguel is able to maintain a ridiculously high pace at WW as seen in the Judah fight and the Shane fight.
Miguel is accustomed to being the one chasing No he's not as was seen in the last 4 rounds of the Mosley fight and his first 20 plus bro bouts. For further evidence see the Ndou,Abdullaev fights.
Cotto is more proven at WW.He has fought stronger/better fighters. He is not as 1 dimensional as Hatton. His handspeed is just as quick. He has a better jab.His bodyshots are more powerful etc etc etc/
Alright I read the 1st page of this thread and I am probably the biggest Mayweather fan on these boards, I am compelled to say whomever started this thread is no real fan of Boxing
Cotto beat a not prime but Hungry and game Shane Mosely who was in this fight because he was a major player and talent in the division, not a spectacle sideshow freak fest pimping out his once great name. I was already a fan of Cotto, but he really showed more dimensions and facets of his game.
He has extremely deceptive handspeed
tighter defense
developed a dynamite jab
timing
outstanding counterpunching.
Cotto is here to stay and can beat Floyd on any given night. I would still give Floyd all the advantages and predict a Floyd victory but Cotto is a juggernaut
