Re: Breaking News - Calzaghe Retires
I think the best matchup that can be made in the near future is Joe vs Tavoris Cloud.....if Cloud can continue his winning ways
Re: the calzaghe appreciation thread

God I hope not. And to be honest, I think that Froch is the one fighter who Calzaghe would refuse to come out of retirement to fight. Within hours, Froch has got his bitter retort on Fightnews, and
I hope Calzaghe doesn't let himself get goaded into taking on the Carlo Cudicini of boxing.
Mate, that's very harsh on Cudicini, he's a good quality keeper & decent person ;)

I was told that he had seen Calzaghe live and Kid Thunder live , which may go a small way to explaining why Calzaghe is the most complete fighter he has seen live. :LOLATYOU:
Re: Breaking News - Calzaghe Retires
Lewis got sparked Twice, youd have to worry about his chances with any heavyweight in history because of it.
Where as with Joe, he hasnt really shown any weaknesses and could be given the benefit of the doubt against any super middle, middle or light heavy ever.
Also regarding just how much Joe means to boxing right now, how much fuss was made on this forum when Mayweather retired?
The truth is alot of bitches here are jealous that Calzaghe isnt going to stick around until something fades and hes beaten, then they can say, "see!";D
Now, they have to stomach the fact hes been unbeaten, unified, travelled and a world class opperator and champion for 12 years and ring champ in 2 consecutive weights;D, there is no one else active who can compare with that.;D

Asi said in another thread , now Calzaghe has retired ,there will be a huge sigh of relief from the elderly and less skilled , as he will no longer be throwing punchs at them .

Calzaghe Retires - Good Riddance
Seen this article on Boxingnews 24, what an absolute sh1te website.
I don't know why they let some of these muppets write for them but I'm forever seeing these kind of articles on there.
I'm not saying Calzaghe has a cast iron legacy but damn, no need for this kind of tripe:
Calzaghe Retires - Good Riddance!
Re: Calzaghe Retires - Good Riddance
Good riddance seems a little harsh methinks. The author has an agenda and sticks to it. Not a balanced view at all. Calzaghe beat anyone who was willing to fight him. I think Hopkins priced himself out of a fight years ago and who else should Joe have fought? Jones Jr and Glen Johnson? Jones Jr is notoriously difficult to deal with and wont travel, and with Calzaghe under Warren a similar situation was happening too. And nobody paid any attention to Johnson after Hopkins beat him up...it was only when he was next in line to beat Jones Jr that he really became noticed properly. Otherwise, I dont see how Joe could have done it much differently in terms of fighting the best.
My only gripe with Joe is that there is too much padding on his record post Eubank. Better opponents could have been found. Not of the calibre of Jones or Hopkins of course, but decent pros nonetheless. The likes of Manfredo and Thornburry dont mean very much to me at all. But the same can be said of a lot of opponents on the record of Hopkins too. Thats just my own little gripe. Calzaghe is a great fighter.
Re: Calzaghe Retires - Good Riddance
To be fair Miles good riddance isnt harsh enough for me .
How about Joe Calzaghe retires - Fuck off you annoying prick ?
