The world has lost a champion. RIP Arturo Gatti
well kinda took the Gatti news pretty hard, same as my cousin, so we went to the local gym in Moca, and well to be honest i haven't been in a boxing gym to actually train in about 6 yrs, so was plenty rusty
started out banging on the heavy bag after my stretches and just kept thinking about how fucked up it is that a guy who you've basically seen grow up in front of your eyes, i mean how long has Gatti been around? and he was only 37, so i just kept pounding away on there for a good 45 minutes or so, then moved over to the doublebag, my mind was kinda blank at this stage to be honest, but out of the blue i just got downright pissed, so decided to spar a while, again i haven't been in a boxing gym in 6 yrs, to train at least, and well asked one of the daily guys to go at it for a while, well we basically went at it for 6 rnds, only thing running through my mind was how even though it was a sad moment in the Alfonso Gomez fight, and to hear Gatti retire in the locker room, you kinda had the feeling that he was gonna go on to live a good life, that even though after all those wars, he still had his marbles, he was in good health and was happy, the news of him getting into real estate only cemented this belief, then for his life to get cut short the way it did, just really pushed me over the edge, honestly was numb in the ring for those 6 rounds, and came home with a black eye, think the best way to honor Gatti
Boxing has just taken another hit! Blasted!
Arturo Gatti dead at 37.
Restlessness in spirit I dare pray not, be a twin of the manner by which it has left this mortal world. Rest in peace Arturo....
You will find it with your maker, young warrior, all our prayers for you and those that you have left behind!
I was telling Danny earlier today, that I wouldn't be surprised if his wife was the one to do it. They had a volatile relationship, and he was just arrested not to long ago for domestic abuse.
Now according to this article that I just found, she is a suspect.
Arturo Gatti's Wife Appears To Be Murder Suspect - Boxing News
There was a moment of silence for Michael Jackson, Alexis Arguello and Arturo Gatti in the Darchynian card.
You just have to shake your head. Its a shame people die everyday 1000 different ways and although we didnt know Arturo personally he left a piece of himself in the ring for us every time out.
RIP Champ
cant believe what im reading and still think this is a horrible nightmare
37 is no age and its pretty clear that foul play is involved here!!
just prey to god arturo and alexis are in better places right now
RIP
Rest in peace champ , im fortunate to have signed gloves by Arturo , he was at a charity function in New York a few years ago.
He was lying on his bed, in his underpants, with a head wound but no mention of a botched robbery?
His wife must have done it.
Gatti is no doubt a legend, his skill set may not make him a hall of famer but his heart does it ten times over. You could of hit that man with a wrecking ball and he would of gotten up and said do it again. He will be missed, not many fighters today have the heart of gatti, they would be lucky to have 1 ounce of gattis heart and determinaton. The mayweather loss still sticks fresh in my mind, he took a beating but it took his corner to stop it.
