He's better than Sanders. FACT.

I think as a heavyweight that's still up for debate. I think a prime Sanders could ko David Haye.
Going 12 rounds with Valuev and winning a razor thin fight that could have gone either way is not impressive.
Answer me this honestly, if the following fighters adopted Hayes tactics of running and then just popping in the odd jab would these not last 12 rounds?
Hopkins
Jones Jr
Calzaghe
Williams
How about Floyd and Mosely?
How does Valuev catch any of them? Sure if they stand and trade they are asking for trouble but they would all find it even easier to stay away from Valuev than Haye did.
It's just not an impressive win. I reckon Usain Bolt could last 12 rounds if he just did what Haye did.
He will have a LOT more trouble with John Ruiz if that fight comes off.

That maybe so.
But 3 inches, 20lb, china-chin, questionable heart and the fact he's been ko'd by journeymen gives Haye a far greater chance of the KO.
It's impossible to not agree, right?
Haye also got KO'd by a journey man (actually I dont even think the guy that KOd Haye could be considered a journeyman, more like a nobody)......
Haye doesnt hit any harder than the other top 10 heavyweights Wlad has been KOing over the last few years..........Wlad hasnt been hurt or buzzed in his last 8 fights, most against universally recognized top ten HWs but he has a china chin? You need stop writing non sense on this website and start actually watching fights.

You mean Carl Thompson, a former British, International, European & most crucially world Cruiserweight champion?? He also beat Chris Eubank twice. When he beat Haye, Haye had been fighting as a professional just over 18 months.
If you want to talk about journeymen, talk about Ross Purrity who KO'd Wlad (a pro a similar level of time comparatively to Haye) & had been beaten in 3 of his 4 previous fights. He never even got near a world title & at the time had lost over a third of his fights.
What does this tell us about Wlad?? Absolutely jack shit, he's a very accomplished fighter & extremely underrated in some quarters. But, the same goes for Haye & his defeat came against a stronger & more credible opponent.
Wlad is a far better fighter than most people give him credit for & its credit he deserves in light of how he dismantled Chagaev & how good a fighter he now is, but when you take Haye's speed into account & that he buzzed Valuev big, you have to admit he must hit pretty hard. Certainly harder than Chagaev & probably Ibragimov.

I could of sworn that he was a British, International, Europian and World Champion and Veteran and that Haye's pro experience totaled 10 fights and not even 2 years?
To call Thompson a Journey man is retarded... to call him "not even a journey man but a nobody" is sub-retarded...
You just went from forrest gump to what's eating gilbert grape in one sentance.
Re: Haye did what he had to do to win the fight.FACT!
All boxers from time to time are involved in crap fights.
Like Haye or loath him you got to admit that he is exciting to watch most of the time.
For once he changed the way he fights to get the job done.Thats what being a good boxer is all about IMO.
He won the fight with 1 hand for fuck sake.
Well done King David;D

Re: Haye did what he had to do to win the fight.FACT!
In his career Carl Thompson had the EBU, IBO, and British Commonwealth belt WOW I'm impressed....what successful and well respected organizations
....the way you guys talk, I'm waiting for Haye to walk on water
Cruiserweight means nothing, when are you guys going to get that???

Aren't the WBO and IBO 2 of Wlads belts?? I bet they aren't worth nothing to Lyle though. As I said yesterday the WBA which the ATG HW's held, is in the hands of the Hayemaker. ;D

I'll see you again tonight when I go to bed in my head movies...

Re: Haye did what he had to do to win the fight.FACT!
Cant stand the man, arrogant, self obsessed and a complete cry baby.
But saturday conclusively proved he is the real deal and though i still have my doubts about his ability to beat either klitsch. My opinion of haye has changed hugely since saturday night.
Not because he won - but how he did it

Thompson wasn't a big deal. Haye fought him when he was like 56 years old or something, I'm exaggerating of course but he was well past his prime.
He beat Eubank, but Eubank was a middleweight moving up to cruiser at the end of his career after losing 3 fights to Collins and Calzaghe.
A well past his prime Eubank should have knocked Thompson out in the first fight and was winning in the second until stopped on a cut.
Thompson was a very average world champ, below even Enzo Maccerinelli.
Haye losing to him would be about the same had John Murray been knocked out by John Thaxton imo.
Haye deserves some credit for getting his career back on track but he really hasn't beaten anybody.
His unification of the cruiserweight division was a bit farcical. He beat a past his prime Mormeck who had been knocked out by O'Neil Bell and then beat a domestic level world champ in Enzo Maccerinelli.
Since then he's beaten Monte Barrett a perrenial whupping boy and Nikolay Valuev who has actually been beaten at least 3 times before and all against second rate heavyweights.
Haye has done nothing to suggest he could live with a real live heavyweight such as either Klitschko, Povetkin, Chambers, Solis, Tony Thompson etc.
I would back all of those guys against him based on his current resume and performances.
I know you guys think I'm crazy for suggesting it, but John Ruiz is the BEST opponent Haye will have ever faced, and I think will be a really tough fight for the Hayemaker.
And Ruiz isn't in the top 20 heavyweights right now.
Thomas Adamek has done as much as Haye imo winning titles at both light heavy and cruiser, and now making his heavyweight debut with a 5th round demolition of Andrew Golota, whose recent form had been better than Barrett's.
Adamek receives no publicity at all though because he is not a shit talking self promoter. I give Haye credit for that. like a Jack Vettriano painting he's managed to promote his tacky shit into something much better than it actually is.
But to be impressive this weekend he needed to dominate Valuev imo, and he was a million miles away from that.
