Re: Cotto-Pac - Who wins? Fact.
I am amazed by the poll on this thread. It is literally dead even and there are a good amount of people voting on this too. Pretty impressive

from your previous post seems to me you're disagreeing on this one though. that cotto is no longer his older self.
past jennings and clottey, tell me as well, what's cotto's state now?
Well I think there are a lot of things to consider when you look at what Cotto was doing before the Margarito fight, he had been with his trainer Evangilista Cotto forever, he was undefeated, and we all know that 1st losses can be devistating to a fighter.
Since then Cotto fought Jennings who was a confidence builder for Miguel and Clottey was a very tough fight for him, but those guys are nothing like Pacquiao and those guys weren't dangerous. Cotto has been buzzed before, he's been dropped before, and he's been beaten up quite a bit, and in the Clottey fight he had to deal with a really bad cut, but he always fought back and that's the part I am hoping remains unchanged.
As I said before, if Pacquiao was to KO Miguel Cotto it would be more impressive than anything Floyd Mayweather Jr has done at 147.
I think Miguel is big, he's still roughly in his prime (I mean, if Cotto gets KO'd I think that puts him out of his prime, although it doesn't change what a big accomplishment it would be for Pacquiao) and Miguel is tough, Margarito maybe even with loaded gloves(we all figure he had them loaded) had to beat him up for 11 rounds to finally stop him!! I think Miguel Cotto is fresh enough, big enough, and powerful enough to whup Pacquiao and if Pac wins I offer no excuses for Cotto, this is like Hagler-Hearns!

posters like you are rare nowadays. i hope most of the guys after the fight will see through your point. i agree with you that even if they say cotto was tko'ed by margacheato, that does'nt take away the fact that he's the bigger guy and if pac wins against him all credit is due for the smaller guy. i mean pac went all the way from 105 to get to this weight class to face a very durable, skilled, stronger and younger opponent. it really pisses me off that some posters here would make an early assessment that the pac team "cherry picked" cotto because he's already damaged goods from cheato, actually preparing for an alibi if ever cotto loses. this are real haters who wouldn't admit they are and would try to deny it. win or lose pac is good for boxing, weather they like it or not. nobody has tread history the way pac did it right now, gunning for his 7th belt in diff. divisions! that alone makes me salute him. so is cotto, if ever he wins, will get my respect and much admiration. i like him even before, he's humble like pac and i will support him too for his next bouts in the future, win or lose.
Re: Cotto-Pac - Who wins? Fact.
Well there's one thing im certain of,is that i cant see this going 12 rounds.Cotto will be the bigger boxer thats a fact, but i see Manny being more active and Cotto covering up alot,as he'll have too!Cotto will have the greatest chance on Manny if he can cut off the ring and coner Manny. The bookmakers have Manny as favourite but only just. Its obvious to say that for both fighters,it'll be their hardest opponants to date.
Im 52/48 on Manny.Im having a bet at the Bookmakers later.I just having a round knock out bet,but im not too sure what round to go for.Im thinking 6 and beyond and edging for manny. Its a really tight as a ducks arse kind of fight. Both fighters being in they prime and being soo heavy handed too, hard to call.Cant fooking wait for this cracker.
We Brits can watch it for free too,"Nar,nar, nar narrrrr nar!";D

If Pac was to beat Cotto in any manner, it is more impressive than anything Floyd has done at welterweight. Gatti, Baldomir, Hatton at 147, Marquez at 147, and Mitchell, don't compare with Cotto at welterweight.
I agree entirely on your last sentence.

Why don't you think this fight is going the distance? Cotto went the distance with Clottey while working through a bad cut.

Seriously. You gotta love that.
Re: Cotto-Pac - Who wins? Fact.
Does anyone know if the Korobov fight is being televised? It's on the undercard.
Re: Cotto-Pac - Who wins? Fact.
Hope Cotto fights vs Pac the way he did vs Margarito. Sure sure sure, Cotto lost badly against Margarito (cheat or not) but I thought he showed decent speed, combinations, accuracy, countering, footwork, decent power, etc....except defense:-\. Margarito walked through Cotto's punches with ease and not even bending one knee. I wonder if Pac can do the same.
I liked Cotto's performance vs Margarito better than his fight with Clottey.

It is not part of the televised PPV card, however, a lot of the cable and satellite providers are showing the untelevised fights for free. So check your OnDemand, and PPV channels to see if they are.
You can also check on Yahoo, a lot of times the show them online.
Re: Cotto-Pac - Who wins? Fact.
I have seen the future in my dreams last night.
I saw Cotto crippling Manny with a mean body shot in round 5, leaving Manny unable to continue and riving in pain on the canvas. ;)
Mark my words.
Re: Cotto-Pac - Who wins? Fact.
The closer I get to the fight, the more I favor Manny's speed. I don't think Cotto finishes his combinations in a defensive posture and PAC is going to use his speed to exploit that. I picture the first few rounds close and then a wide decision/late stoppage for Pacquiao.
I really think once PAC gets his rhythm dialed in it's going to be very one-sided.

Re: Cotto-Pac - Who wins? Fact.
I think team pac will use the DLH fight strategy. Like Oscar, Cotto is a natural lefty in conventional stance. I expect Pac to spin Cotto around and pop shot him all night till Cotto's eyebrows bleed and go for the kill.
Pac TKO at 8.
