Should Manny Pac go ahead with the blood test?

why only manny? why this fight only?

Manny is willing to take the blood test before and after the fight.FACT. I've heard him say it in public/national television.

I just hope that Team Pacquiao will back out from this fight to shut Mayweather's big mouth.


I say to Pac:

Take the random drug tests as suggested by Gayweather ( I know Pac will do it) and fight at light middle for another belt. Do the fight after the May elections if Gayweather doesn't sign the contract before the second week of January.

Pac, you don't need Gayweather. Cancel this fight if you must and never bother about Gayweather.Your place in boxing history is already secured.

It's clear that gayweather is dilly-dallying to avoid a fight with you.

It isn't only Manny, it is Floyd as well. Discrimination would be one fighter having to jump through hoops and the other not having to. This discussion has raised a lot of interesting questions. Perhaps it shouldn't only be for this fight and should be something fighters and promoters consider more when drawing up contracts. Drug testing in boxing obviously needs to be revised as it is currently very limited and does potentially allow drug users to pass undetected.

I'm sorry to say this but Pacman is backed into a corner now, he has to take the fight and the random blood test, because his victories against high profile names like Barrera, Marquez, Morales, De La Hoya, Cotto are now being in question. His career is now being in question.

Most people even the ones that dislikes him are in favor of Floyd now on this issue. From what I heard it's the equivalent of a pin prick. That's not like giving a pint of blood.

The flaws in offering a blood test before and after the fight have already been pointed out by others in this thread. The test will need to be random as these drugs work on calendar cycles that a team can manipulate if they have prior knowldge of when and where the test will take place. A random test means that a fighter must be clean or else there is always the chance that if he is using, then he will be caught. Now, I'm not saying that Pac is guilty, but he is making himself look very suspicious. Bruce, do you not think that full and comprehensive random checking is a good thing for the sport? Isn't it a good idea to know for certain that top level fighters are clean? This is boxing, it isn't ballet. Boxing carries health risks and the risks need to be kept to a minimum. On this basis alone, surely you can see the merits in drug testing?

The argument that Pac should simply not fight Mayweather in order to shut Mayweathers mouth is a weak one. Most people seem to agree that Mayweathers proposal is a good idea. Why not just do what most people think he should do? Both fighters get their dream purse and the fans get a potential FOTY. It's good for everyone to have this done and if Pac is clean then it really shouldn't be a problem. I agree that Mayweather could have fought Cotto and Margarito, but there is only one man backing out of this fight.

I haven't read all of this (thankfully) but some of its silly, Manny fans (and I definitely consider myself one) acting like taking a drug test before and after the fight at set times is the same as random blood tests is incredibly silly. Its not, stop it. Its embarrassing.

If Manny pulls out of this cause he won't agree to random drug tests then it would be a stain on his career and his legacy, period.

But like I always say during the pre-fight negotiations (although granted this is a different case than most) just wait and see what happens. He may well agree to it yet.

First of all merry Christmas miles. I was having my christmas break and was shocked that people here are already talking of Pac being guilty of using steroids.

Second, have you heard of any professional boxer having random drug tests before their fights? Tell me if you have heard of one.

What if the random drug test is done 3 or 2 days before the fight?

Don't you think it will not affect the performance of a fighter?

I personally know pacquaio to be very superstitious and psychologically, he's easily affected with things/events around him. He always makes the sign of the cross when fighting and he would usually kneel down in prayer before he fights and I know it's because of his beliefs/superstitions.

Anyway, it's a LAME excuse but his superstitions and beliefs have made him win fights. Other boxers like Marquez are also superstitious , ( he drinks his pee)and I can't blame him for that. If it makes them feel strong then they can do whatever superstitions they want.

I agree though that Pacquaio should do the random drug test but it should be at least 15 days before the fight. That way, he could still recover from whatever effect the drug test will do to him. Besides, he will be tested after the fight so what's the problem with that?

I am of the strong belief though that Mayweather is trying to avoid Pac now just like when he avoided Cotto and Margarito and make silly excuses.

Trust my word on this Miles. Mayweather doesn't want to fight Pac. HE WILL AVOID BIG PUNCHERS LIKE COTTO, MARGARITO AND PAC.

regardless people are going to be asking him to do these tests now if he doesn't fight floyd. there is a huge cloud of suspicion and it is rightfully so.

It is funny to see the nut huggers in the thread weeded out from the normal pac fans, this thread is exposing them fairly easily

The blood test is really a relatively painless procedure and the amount of blood taken is very miniscule. Pac will not be drained from having a few tests here and there whilst in camp. Mayweather will have exactly the same tests too, so it's not as if one is gaining massive advantages.

It isn't that big a deal especially if you have nothing to hide. He should just get on with it.

Gayweather wants a FAIR fight? Then Team pacquaio should asks for these among other things:

1.Gayweather should be ready with a $15 million penalty for every excess pound.

2. Pac should also stipulate that at fight night, Gayweather should not exceed 155 lbs.

That should make things equal and fair. :cool:

Mayweather already agreed to Pacquiao's ridiculous $10 million per pound penalty, seems that Pacquiao likes making ridiculous demands and then is offended when their brought back full circle, fuck Mayweather should demand that Roach can't drink his Parkinsons meds for the fight :rolleyes:
