I'm actually quite concerned about the Slovakia game. There's bound to be an emotional letdown after the Russia game and Halak has proven both in the NHL and the Olympics that he can steal a game for his team. They also have a Norris trophy winning defenseman and several elite-level forwards.

Finland is starting to implement jujitsu in to this now.

Slovakia won't be a piece of pie. However, if the boys are playing physically as they did against Russia, we have good chances to grind them down slowly and methodically... then we'll see if the first USA-Canada was a mere lack of chemistry or if they are really the best this year.

I'm in favor of the crowd only saying "Luuuuuu" when dude actually makes a tough save.

Just for entertainment's sake I'd like Slovakia to get back in this at least a bit. Canada/Russia and USA/Finland were just awful games.

2-0 Canada after 1 period. Good start, Slovakia reminds me a lot of the old Minnesota Wild style of play.

i wonder if Slovakia will come back stronger or if they just got shaken off their ice skates and if their confidence went down the drain.

Holy shit the Slovakian guy had a great chance there at the end and hit the post. Really should have scored.

I thought Luongo might have had have deflectedit but either way holy shit, both those guys are the Cannucks too which is kind of interesting. That was an awesome end to a game, I turned it on right after FNF.

USA-Slovakia just wouldn't have been as satisfying.

Luongo made a great save at the end, but that first goal was inexcusable in a game of this magnitude. Bring on the U.S., you guys are fucked.
