Thatcher chose to put herself in a very public position, and chose to make cuts that took away the livelihoods of millions of people, and took great satisfaction in doing so. I think the fact that each of us is contributing to the funeral gives us the right to have an opinion and to demonstrate that peacefully. I'm not advocating the kind of silliness that leads to people getting hurt, but I suspect a heavy-handed police presence may trigger responses from demonstrators.
Maybe having her remains placed in a hidden grave might avoid the vandalism that is almost inevitable for someone who inspired such feelings of loathing.
