Re: Marco Huck-Mairis Briedis - WBC Cruiser Title/BoxNation/Sat.
Yeah for sure Bellew will stay where the money is, understandably. This cruiserweight division is full of world-class killers - Usyk, Glowaki, Breidis, Gassiev, Lebedev yet Bellew would make absolute peanuts with them compared to what he'll make with Haye again, Wilder, Whyte etc

Cruiser seems like a modern day murder's row. With Bellew having now tasted the fame and fortune of the heavies it's safe to say he'll finish his career among the big boys. Even among the domestic rivals he'll be in for big paydays.

Bellew would get absolutely smashed to bits by any decent heavyweight and the mere fact that Wilder is even mentioned in the same breath as Bellew is absurd.
Bellew would not make it past 1 round.

That's what most of us said leading into the Haye fight and look what happened. If he is matched properly he get in a few good fights.

The only reason he survived to win was Haye was injured, probably before he came into the fight, and he will not be as fortunate again. Bellew knows that and he will wait for Haye because most people at the weight will wreck Bellew.

Mairis Briedis beat Marco Huck in a unanimous decision to claim Tony Bellew's WBC cruiserweight title.
Bellew's champion status was changed as a result of potential ongoing involvement in the heavyweight division.
The 34-year-old has held the title since May, but the WBC made him Emeritus Champion - so he can return to contest the title at any time.
Latvian 32-year-old Briedis remains unbeaten with a 22nd career victory.
The three judges scored the fight 118-109, 116-111 and 117-110 in his favour, with German 32-year-old Huck suffering a fifth defeat in 41 bouts.

Come on give him a smidgen of credit. I thought he was getting laid out in a round or 2. For the time being he is Haye's daddy.

Bellew better enjoy he time in the sunshine and hope Haye gives him a rematch because no way Bellew will go down to cruiser weight or fight any other heavyweight. Eddie and Bellew may say they have a lot of options but in reality he has not. Parker beats him and Wilder would annihilate him.
The fact that these top heavyweights are mentioned in the same sentence as Bellew is hilarious.

I don't get it either, every fight he has everyone predicts his certain demise, they keep getting proved wrong, yet still all say he's shit. When he does get blown out they'll ignore the fact that they were wrong a million times beforehand. Ridiculous.
Yeah he was "lucky" Haye suffered a debilitating injury but he was meant to be unconcious and in the hospital long before it ever got to the point Haye's leg fell off.

Haye was carrying the injury before he went into the fight, Haye's balance was all over the place from round 1. He has never been that wild before. Bellew even said he saw this as his last big pay day before retirement and the whole fake hate was manufactured from months ago.
Re: Marco Huck-Mairis Briedis - WBC Cruiser Title/BoxNation/Sat.
So what? That's all hindsight bollocks, after any event we can explain things in a more definitive manner as we have evidence.
Why didn't anyone predict before the fight that Bellew had a chance if Haye's timing was off, if Haye's explosiveness had faded, if Haye looked shot? Just because Haye was worse than everyone thought it doesn't take away from Bellew being better.
However, all the focus is on what went wrong with Haye and Bellew being better than everyone expected is totally ignored. Like Alpha said - you can't even bring yourself to give a slither of credit to a boxer that proved you wrong.
Just give credit where it's due gawdammit!

Credit for taking the risk, getting in the ring and surviving for about 6 rounds before Haye got injured yes.
Acknowledge the fact that Bellew got very lucky.
Re: Marco Huck-Mairis Briedis - WBC Cruiser Title/BoxNation/Sat.
Huck has been in lots of hard fights an has the look of a shot fighter.

I wouldn't say Bellew got lucky, Haye was unlucky. It's impossible to ascertain what would've happened had Haye not got injured.
However, if you actually took the care to read my posts you would've realised i've already acknowledged Haye was awful before he got injured.

Re: Marco Huck-Mairis Briedis - WBC Cruiser Title/BoxNation/Sat.
Haye did look terrible. That may have been down to carrying the injury, maybe not. That's not Bellew's fault. Haye chose to go through with the fight. Once you step in that ring all the excuses go out the window. Bellew might have sent Haye into permanent retirement. I think Bellew should look for the biggest payday's from this point on.
