I've not had any bother with keeping the food stocks up in camp either, it doesn't take a lot of time, I find a couple of rabbits will do it.
I wish you could just save it though, that is one thing that does my head in at times.
Oh and as for the gold bar cheat, I didn't do it and I've now got about $900 on my person and the camp has about $300
The snow start was miserable ;D. But I mean build stamina up at start just running around before you get to harder parts and more of story. I had level 4 before first ride to town. The never ending tiers in character stats takes some serious getting use to. Just too much to follow ;D.

Came close. Rescued a kidnapped gal but dropped her and took too long to untie her. So she calls me also insane, runs away and I accidentally end up chasing her through the woods with a knife yelling insults :-X.

Don't worry too much about the stats, just try to keep your cores full.
You can increase them with repetition but I haven't run into much trouble.
My guy is always underweight. Just kill a few things and cook them.
Practice using dead eye, it is a blessing. Also duels take a bit of getting used to. Press right trigger to fill meter, the fuller the better, then press r2 again to draw. If meter is full you should be aiming almost perfect. Then r2 again to fire. Don't forget the 3rd press.
You can replace your hat from the horse menu.
F-ck some of these challenges are hard.
Anyone taking extra pics with the camera? I got a nice snap with myself standing over a lion. Don't think it does anything but looked pretty cool.
Re: Red Dead Redemption - anyone playing ?
A quick tip for some of the newer players. Draw and holster your weapon by tapping L1. Once to draw, then again to holster.
Re: Red Dead Redemption - anyone playing ?
Didn’t know the l1 thing or the r2 x 3 thing.
That’s my fault for playing as a nice guy and avoiding shootouts
Cheers

Yea at the beginning I was using the wheel to select my fist, L1 to holster its much easier.
First duel I had the other guy fell down drunk, so I just looted him.
I managed to get a couple of perfect rabbit pelts, need to craft arrows that won't damage the pelt. Wish I knew that before I murdered 100s of rabbits.
Re: Red Dead Redemption - anyone playing ?
Thanks for that Alpha. I've been using the cluster rt-lf wheel and somehow ended up eating crackers while getting shot up. One touch much better. On the plus side my guy learned how to 'drift a horse and get an entire town to shame him as he rides by for no reason what so ever. Why are so many people just asking for a gunfight???. One bad thing is riding your horse named Tacos too far into the camp and he gets 'stuck' in a tent so you cannot lasso, lead or ride out.
Re: Red Dead Redemption - anyone playing ?
Drift a horse??
My horse is called Jim Bowen.
I tried to call it Twat but the game doesn't allow
Re: Red Dead Redemption - anyone playing ?
and why is no one asking me for a gun fight ??

Or use the varmint rifle
For the bigger animals lasso then and just walk over and slit their throat, perfect pelts every time

I've gotten carriages stuck and can't go backwards.
Re: Red Dead Redemption - anyone playing ?
I shot someone in the town in error. I then had to go on a shooting spree becoming a serial killer. My horse got killed, got a new one but I can’t find camp. I feel bad about all the townspeople I shot. Now everyone is after me

You played drunk didn't you ;D. The 'rob' option should be harder to accidently hit in town.
Few take away pros and cons just a couple days in. Haven't even scratched it yet.
1. You really do bond with your horse ;D. Praise them, and the dags, constantly. Tons of moves to pick up
2. Like the wanted and evade and how it works. Better hide your bodies :-X
3. It's beyond massive and so far unpredictable. Great sound too.
4. Gunfights are none hand held and simple as are the approach options. None of that auto reload or huge reticle stuff. They changed 'deadeye' but works well.
1. The wheel. You will literally find yourself looking at the buttons pulling 2,3 'hold-let go' at same time. Maybe I just haven't worked out the kinks.
2. It is dark! I like the real time night day and the fact there were no street lamps then but..unless there's a moon it seems very hard to navigate in the bush.
3. The early cut scenes and that first sleep inducing wagon ride
4. The whole core thing so far.

Oh snap I wanted to go to the wheel but drew on someone and fired. Completely sober but I did get the dude drunk on whiskey. It’s funny the screen gets wobbly. I gotta get used to all these buttons. Too many commands and things to push. Once a week playing makes me forget everything. I need to quit my job and housework so I can get good at this.
Re: Red Dead Redemption - anyone playing ?
So I spent all day on this fucker yesterday and seemed to get nowhere.
I use free aim which is hard sometimes in gunfights and dead eye runs out in seconds.
I finished one mission then stayed to loot the camp and before I knew it the law surrounded me and I was a goner. The horse I bonded with also died so I’m back to square one there with Tennessee walker who is shite.
I go to where legendary animals are and it says there’s too much activity in the area.
And I’ve activated all these side missions and got nowhere with any of them. Anyone else got treasure maps ? Can’t work out where anywhere fucking is from the shitty drawings.
And crafting can fuck right off.
I will keep going on the main story
