Didn't think of it like that at first but case makes itself. Garcia has natural talent but can be said he's taken big shortcuts, bit smoke & mirrors when it comes to actual hard carved ring accomplishment and build versus leaning hard into the social media creation and reliance. When he opted out of keeping busy with Gesta in an actual fight and just sat around making more vids of pad work, speaks volumes.

Think the fight also benefits from fans starving for these 'stars' to shake the phobia of simply being active. Years ago this is a main or co main on hbo like so many other cases of top contenders-title holders wanting to face top challenges. Used to be a thing. A mentality and level of expectation.

DLH is as much to blame for the manufactured hype for this fight as anyone else. Understandably so, as Oscar is Ryan's promoter and is perfectly willing to whore himself out... if it keeps him relevant and in the money.

But he does boxing no favors when he claims... "this is the fight to save boxing."

"Save boxing??" By pushing a fighter totally made on social media?? What a douche...

If Garcia wins and begins topping p4p lists and becomes "the face of boxing"... maybe it's time to stop following fighters the traditional way... and get a Tik Tok account.
