I don't think he was joking. Just goes to show how much open scoring ruins the fight.

CC that made me laugh.
Maybe Zab saw Jay Nady in the crowd and threw a stool at him.

Cotto accused of cheating again :)
Cotto is a cheater.

I just hope the cut doesn't delay the Judah fight. It didn't look like that bad of a cut, I've got my fingers crossed.

Re: Just another one of Wacko's Drunken Round by Rounds: The Cotto & Miranda Show
Here we go again...with my overly critical opinion.
I thought that this guy gave Cotto issues...has Cotto retained his power at this weight or was Urkal just that strong?
Cotto vs Judah? Bad fight for Cotto to take, IWO.
Judah's speed might be a factor against Cotto.
Thoughts?
-
Re: Just another one of Wacko's Drunken Round by Rounds: The Cotto & Miranda Show
I saw nothing impressive from Cotto. As for the head butts...they weren't intentional.Cotto steps forward and fires with his head down. This fight showed many of Cotto's flaws. When he misses he misses wide, his so-called body shots didnt affect the fight, and he takes waaaayyy to many shots.Urkal is a tough one though.I see where his corner is coming from...the red was extremely biased.

I just wasn't impressed with Cotto. He did ok and he did what he had to do. I think he wil be too strong for Judah. He needs to fight an inform powerful fighter.

I wasn't overly impressed with Cotto, although I have to think that part of it was that Urkal wasn't doing anything to allow him to look good.
When you're facing an old, well-schooled opponent whose main priority is to survive and not to launch a big attack of his own, it's tough to look good.
I've said all along that Judah will give Cotto problems in the early rounds that he hasn't faced before. I just have to think that Cotto's body shots will eventually wear down Judah both mentally and physically.
However, anyone who thinks Judah will just be a walkover for Cotto is wayyyyyy off base in my opinion. I remember when Judah-Cotto was announced, some people posted that Cotto beating Judah "wouldn't prove anything," and that statement is ridiculous in my opinion.
-
Re: Just another one of Wacko's Drunken Round by Rounds: The Cotto & Miranda Sho
Zab could give Cotto some serious problems but it comes down to how Zab responds to Cottos body attacks and right hands. I still dont think Zab deserves a shot at Cotto (and im a fan of Zabs) but nevertheless tough fight for both men. cc Wacko for the rbr

deserves a shot...who is cotto?his first million dollar payday was against Malignaggi...so lets not make it seem like he is a golden child

Urkal is just a tough SOB.
If you watch the Chop-Chop vs Cotto fight, you might think Cotto will be in a bit of trouble.
Chop was fast, elusive, south paw, hurt Cotto at least twice and IMO Chop does not hit as hard as Zab.
It is still a fight I want to see. Zab gave Floyd fits the first 5 rounds. It will be interesting to see how Cotto deals with some one this fast.
I just want to see Cotto fight the best.
The question is who has the glassier chin between Cotto and Zab.
I call this bout the fight of the questionable chins :)
Does Cotto still have his power? Yes. Just look at Quintana. The thing is now Cotto is being accused of hitting people in the back. And I won't deny it. Some are legal while others are a bit more deliberate and not legal.
Kostya Tszyu was unable to dispose of Urkal so we have to say he is a pretty tough customer.

Nothing wrong with Cotto there, I thought he was terrific.

Cotto is not ready for Mayweather...its that simple.

Re: Just another one of Wacko's Drunken Round by Rounds: The Cotto & Miranda Show
Amat you said that zab doesnt deserve a shot with cotto...What does he gain by fighting cotto other than money?Especially after Cotto's showing tonight.
-
Re: Just another one of Wacko's Drunken Round by Rounds: The Cotto & Miranda Show
Actually BoomBoom said that. But I agree.
Regardless of how he looked tonight, Cotto is still one of the hottest fighters in all of boxing. He's P4P top 10 and undefeated. And he improves every fight (haven't seen him tonight), how can you honestly pose that question? Zab has a ton to gain by fighting Cotto. For 1, he is fighting Pito his next fight, a pretty good lightweight 4 years ago. That shows how far Zab has fallen. He's lost 2 of his last 3 fights, one to Carlos Baldomir. He has had horrible outings against average fighters in the past while Cotto is a star on the rise.
If he beats Cotto he gains a ton of legitimacy again. You can't honestly think that Cotto brings nothing to the table for Zab. I'll give you one more. When Cotto faces a journeyman, HBO travels to Puerto Rico to cover it. Zab is fighting in the states on ESPN 2. But of course Zab has nothing to gain.
-
Re: Just another one of Wacko's Drunken Round by Rounds: The Cotto & Miranda Show
If zab beats cotto...whats next?what top name fighter is he gonna have a chance to fight?I don't see him climbing that high on the rankings either way.Cotto improves every fight? How?He takes BIG shots in every fight and shows the same mistakes everytime he fights! You talk about cotto fighting on HBO..wow...its not PPV.Zab also doesnt have top rank promotions either.Thats just politics.Zab is gonna earn a little money from the cotto fight. If Zab whens...do you honestly think that they will rank him top 10 p4p.NOOOO

Re: Just another one of Wacko's Drunken Round by Rounds: The Cotto & Miranda Sho
Cotto is going to crush Zab, I can't believe what I'm hearing, what did Cotto do that was so wrong tonight, he was excellent.

Re: Just another one of Wacko's Drunken Round by Rounds: The Cotto & Miranda Sho
Actually Miranda showed me more in the face of adversity then Cotto did tonight(but Cotto was expected to walk through) but that fight showed that Cotto may not be as mentally tough as once thought...

Here I gotta totally disagree.
Cotto didn't really retaliate like most fighters do against someone that fights as dirty as Urkal did...& he was dirty. Really REALLY used his head. The ref missed a lot of it. Once cut...Cotto lost focus...but pretty much all fighters do.
Miranda needs to learn to utilize his jab & box more.

Re: Just another one of Wacko's Drunken Round by Rounds: The Cotto & Miranda Show
Styles make fights. I think, and again I haven't seen this fight, that you could go into a fight scared of Cotto and not really give him any clean openings while going into a fight with a guy named Vivian would have you considerably less scared and more open.
He went into a shell versus Tszyu after an awesome first 6 rounds of the fight so what I am hearing does not surprise me.

Re: Just another one of Wacko's Drunken Round by Rounds: The Cotto & Miranda Show
Miranda is a beast...I thought that Green would outpoint him.

No doubt. It's actually very funny. You can count on a good 5 rounds from Judah and nothing more. We all talk about how inconsistent he is but....well he's consistent in what he gives us ;D At least he was in 2006.

Re: Just another one of Wacko's Drunken Round by Rounds: The Cotto & Miranda Show
Cotto got mentally frustrated. His body shots didnt seem to wear urkal down.He intentionally punched him in the back, and tried to throw him over his shoulder.Urkal doesnt fight dirty.Cotto steps in a throws with his head down and urkal tried to slip and grab him...so I dont know what fight some of you were watching.Amat you can justify Cotto's performance he has a couple of things he needs to work on.

No but he doesn't deserve top 10 P4P. And Judah digresses every fight.
And if Zab wins...
Margarito, Clottey, Hatton, Spinks, Mosley, Collazo, Williams....
Everyone at 140-154 with the exception of Mayweather will be seriously considering him as their next opponent.

Haven't seen the fight tonight so I wouldn't know. I have always been down on Cotto until the Quintana fight. I thought he improved a whole hell of a lot that night.
-
Re: Just another one of Wacko's Drunken Round by Rounds: The Cotto & Miranda Show
He wont be able to get a Hatton fight,no one wants a spinks fight,if williams and margo fight...the winner will be chasing mosley or floyd, and a collazo fight wont sell.Zab is considered a step down.

Here's the thing...as much as I hate Judah (and I mean HATE with a capital HATE!) as a person, he's a hell of a boxer. He's fast, he's powerful, & he's championship material...BUT...he's also unreliable...on top of being a fwockin asshole.
I truely do believe that he'll come in focused & either upset Cotto or give him the fight of his life. Cotto is to easy to be hit. He's always there to be found for most of the second & third tier fighter's shots...I have to think that as accurate & as slick as Judah is...the night will not be in Cotto's favor.
That being said...I'd love nothing more than to see Judah toes up counting light bulbs in a square circle somewhere in New York.
-
Re: Just another one of Wacko's Drunken Round by Rounds: The Cotto & Miranda Show
Judah has "super flaws" . Zab drops his hand religiously after he throw a flurry and backs str8 up.. Just a simple timing situation for Cotto to work out and he will have Judah out within 6 rounds ..easy ! Cotto will simply slide forward and throw the Left hook while Judah's hands are low. game over.

Watch the fight again. I've watched it twice tonight. Urkal butted him 3 times & if they weren't intentional then I don't know what were. After he & Urkal clashed & he got cut...Urkal came in with his head everytime that Cotto closed the gap.
You not seeing that...I'd be just as curious as to what fight you were watching.
Cotto aint perfect...but he's got room to grow & he does improve with time & each outting.
The proof is in the pudding. He's beaten everyone that beat him in the am's & he's moved up in weight & continued to work & win.
