Its relevant if someone thinks its relevant, thats the bottom line.
If Hatton had rematched Collazo and beaten him soundly would people disregard his first effort? of course they wouldnt. It still offers some insight into what another fighter can achieve, same with Mayweather Castillo 1.

Mayweather has been in the trenches before i don't know why people think Mayweather hasn't been in tough fights and can't take take punches and first Castillo fight holds no water and if you look back on page 16 i explained why it holds no water.

Re: Mayweather Hatton faceoff!!
FvCK everyone is reading iway to much into why I brought up those fights.
I understand everyone's points, and understand your arguements against what you think i'm saying....
Here is it.. I'll summarize what I meant in one paragraph.. If ANYTHING more is taken from this paragraph, then their is nothing more I can say to change that..
How I should have said this originally to avoid confusion :
I AM PERSONALLY LOOKING FORWARD TO THIS FIGHT BECAUSE - ON ONE OLD FIGHT I PERSONALLY SAW SOMEONE DO WELL AGAINST FLOYD. IN ANOTHER OLD FIGHT I PERSONALLY SAW SOMEONE DO WELL AGAINST RICKY...
AND I AM PERSONALLY VERY INTERESTED TO SEE IF THE FACTORS THAT I OBSERVED IN THOSE FIGHTS END UP RELATING IN SOME WAY TO THE UPCOMING FIGHT.
THEY ARE MY OWN THOUGHTS AND OBSERVATIONS BASED ON ONLY A FEW VARIABLES. I KEPT IT SIMPLE FOR MY SAKE... IF THIS IS WRONG TO YOU, I CAN'T CHANGE THAT.
IF i'm the only person that thinks back to those 2 fights when I think of the upcoming fight, and that makes me a total f'king moron that needs to be argued with about being wrong, then so be it....
If in the future i've made an observation that no one else has pointed out yet,,,,, i'll assume my observations are irrelevant and keep my mouth shut... I don't have the brain capacity to consider every variable that anyone else can think up before I post.. Nor would I want to..

I given valid reason's why it doesn't take a look on page 16 Mayweather suffered a shoulder injury in first fight then beat Castillo comfortably in the rematch its pretty obvisious why it holds no water.

Floyd is officially quoted at 5 ft 8 but I personally don't think he's any bigger than 5 ft 7. Even against Ricky they were eye to eye at the press conference.
The guys is tiny. I'm 5 ft 7 and a 1/2 and I'd be able to look down on Floyds head I reckon.

Not at all but SLK was talking utter nonsense he was even saying that he didn't fight biggest challenge at 154 that Joel Julio was bigger challenge than ODLH im sorry but thats a hater.

He stated that Mayweather was boring even though he never gives me the reason why he only ever slates the opposition he said that he was impressed with Byrd's career what the ?? and reason why this is being a hypocrite because Byrd has achieved no where near what Mayweather has achieved plus he is one of the most boring fighters ever alot more boring than Mayweather.

It was nothing like that come off it seriously no one called anyone a hater for just thinking Hatton is going to win all SLK done was slate Mayweather and his opposition and kept going on and on about it and then even said Joel Julio was better challenge than ODLH he is either being a hater or hasn't a clue about boxing one of the two.

Re: Mayweather Hatton faceoff!!
Ive just seen this thread now.
Hatton impresses me. He is obviously confident about this fight and believes he has what it takes. Floyd doesnt intimidate him at all and Hatton is obviously thinking "what a twat!". And Hatton is right. Floyd is a complete twat.
The size difference satisfies me because Floyd isnt much taller. Hatton will get in close and bully to the body and Floyd will be on those ropes. Hatton is fast. Faster than many realise and this will be the surprise of the fight. Hatton is significantly faster than Oscar in terms of handspeed and footwork.
Hatton will surprise many in this fight.

Re: Mayweather Hatton faceoff!!
It isnt even relevant that PBF did or didn't fight the biggest fighters at 154. I personally believe that there are better fighters at 154 than ODLH, nonetheless it is a very weak weak division in comparison to the welterwieght division that this supposed p4p champ skipped.
Just because a fighter who used to fight in several weight classes below 154, does in fact make a successful 154 entry, it cannot not be presumed that he is a better fighter merely because he jumped those wieght divisions, if in fact the wieght class(es) he jumped were ripe with quality competition like the welterwiegh division was/is.
To elevate the classification of someone as being a p4p contender/elite based on division jumping alone is illogical.

Floyd is finally fighting a real fighter. For that he deserves credit. He is gonna get a mauling though!!

Although I didn't understand the majority of your post Boozeboxer, this one line is brilliant:
To elevate the classification of someone as being a p4p contender/elite based on division jumping alone is illogical.

I have to say,I think Hatton is going to make it harder than I originally thought. I don't know why,I just think his hit and grab style, constant mauling etc will make for a close fight. I still think Mayweather wins but I don't believe he stops Hatton like some do. I think it'll be a split decision. The only worry for Hatton will be who the ref is and how much infighting he allows. Any point deductions in this fight could be fatal.

Re: Mayweather Hatton faceoff!!
Lol i can't wait for this fight...some people are gonna be eating their words and some people are going to be gloating until the cows come home...
O0
Can I just ask katfight, what do you think Ricky Hatton brings to the table that Floyd hasn't encountered before? I just always hear you saying Ricky is gonna beat up on Floyd but never reason's why? (not having a pop, just want your reasons why) Also do you believe Ricky's resume is better than Floyd's? Floyd was a world champion within 2 years of turning pro and has been one ever since without losing. He has been fighting name's since the age of 21 years old. People always have a go at him for not unifying divisions but his goal clearly was to make history from the beginning. To become a multi-division champion was his goal and he achieved that. Who is anybody to argue that? If he unified every division from the beginning he'd be a lot older than 30 and he'd most probably have a loss for not being at his peak. Plus Ricky hasn't unified any division that he's been in. It's always Mayweather who gets the shit from people because his bar is raised so so so much higher than everybody elses. Why? Because he is the best.
He's going to prove that again on December 8th and it will be one of his biggest victories because Ricky Hatton is actually fairly under rated by some people as well. What a match up.
Roll on December 8th..

The funny thing about that whole post is the fighters talked about. So what if Floyd had some trouble with Castillo, he is arguably an all time top ten at 135, and one of the best p4p fighters of his generation in his prime, and thats smack bang when floyd fought him.
On the other hand Hatton was troubled by Magee, talented journeyman at best, probably never a top ten guy in his weight division, and he would NEVER have troubled Floyd at 140. Nuff said
You know what. I'm drunk. I'm stoned. Its a Friday night but right now i'm in a state of realisation. Eagle youv'e just helped me form a new opinion.
Basically. We all have a banter about how Castillo gave Floyd all the trouble in the world in their 1st encounter. But watch the fight. Floyd was 'trying' to do a fair amount of fighting.
Come the 2nd fight, you all see what happened. So feel this for a second....
If the great Ray Leonard can try to fight Duran over FIFTEEN ROUNDS then make him say 'no mas' after eight rounds of sugar shock. Then lads i'm sure if Floyd really did his thing he'd of made Duran want 'no mas' in just the same way.
It might be the drugs. But thats how i feel right now ;)
-
Re: Mayweather Hatton faceoff!!
CC Jim stoned an all! lol
There's nothing I hate more than people dismissing Floyds chances against a Duran back in the day. It was a different era, how can anyone know for sure? Floyd is a smart fighter and he is the hardest training fighter in boxing. We know this about Floyd.
I wouldn't hazard a guess as to who would win but I can see scenario's in both their favour.
I just can't wait for this fight between Floyd and Hatton I really can't..i just love pre-fight hype and discussions! It makes you look forward to the fight and is therefore healthy!! :)

Re: Mayweather Hatton faceoff!!
I have written a lot in this thread and maybe i've been to harsh on Ricky fans. I dont hate the guy, i actually admire him for his determination and toughness. I think he has a chance against Floyd, even if it is small.
What i cant stand tho is people on here who knock PBF's credentials, yet applaud Hattons. The truth is that Floyd has faced and beaten the better opposition. Others who say that he has never faced a tough challenge make me mad also. The fact is that in 2001-2002 there was no tougher challenge at 130 or 135 than Corrales, Chavez and Castillo. Fact also is that if Zab Judah hadnt been beaten by Baldo, Floyd would have been fighting the undisputed WW champ in 2006. Fact is that in 2007 there isnt a tougher challenge at 154 the DLH.
So far i have heard in this thread that Joel Julio is a bigger threat than DLH, so i disagreed with that.
I've heard that Judah, Corrales and Byrd have more impressive careers than PBF i disagreed with that.
I've heard that Floyd has never faced tough opposition, i disagreed with that.
I've heard that all PBF fights are boring, i disagreed with that.
Last but not least i read that Hatton will easily beat PBF and i disagreed with that.
Anyone got a problem with that?

Mayweather would of beat Duran no question i have been saying this for ages Duran is not a great fighter when someone fights him from outside if Kirkland Laing could give Duran boxing lesson i don't see why Mayweather can't win decision.

I don't think anyone knocks Mayweather's "Achievements" it's more the fashion in which he achieves them, and if anyone says Judah, Byrd and Corrales have had better careers trhen you know they are talking complete bollocks. Real fight fans know there are some absolutely cracking Mayweather fights that leave your mouth wide open in amazement, and clearly it's not going to be easy for Hatton, it's his biggest test so far, and Mayweather is rightly the bookies favourite. But in my eyes I truly believe Hatton has the drive, determination and most importantly the tools to beat Mayweather.
One part I slightly disagree with is that in 2007 and at 154, Vernon Forrest, Corey Spinks and Kassim Ouma are bigger tests to Mayweather than Oscar De La Hoya.
