It had nothing to do with weight he just stepped up.
Jacobs was a monster during that fight and yet GGG still managed to knock him down in the 4th.
Imagine what he will do with Canelo?
He won't do a thing ;D Your boy's unbeaten record will be gone Sunday morning
As will his belts and maybe a few of his teeth if he keeps coming forward on Canelo.

GGG will come forward with a ram rod jab, right hook and left uppercut on Canelo.

I really cant see GGG losing
like has been mentioned before there might be a bad decision, but I really cant see it going the distance

Re: Golovkin-Canelo OFFICIAL!!!- Sept 16th
So in preparation for this fight, I watched the GGG vs Jacobs fight. Here are a few things that caught my eye thinking about the fight this weekend.
First, Jacobs is very underrated. He is fast and has a good punch. He looked a decent amount bigger than GGG too. I think that Jacobs pretty easily has a size, speed, and power advantage over Canelo. So I don't think that Canelo will bring anything that GGG hasn't seen before in those departments.
GGG is still a really good boxer. Even though Jacobs had good movement, GGG was able to still get in often and land good punches. He may be slipping a bit but I don't think that significantly.
Last, Canelo won't be able to outbox GGG. He is decent enough but he isn't a great tactician. Also, he won't be able to outgun GGG.
If Canelo can either outbox or outgun GGG then I will admit I severely underrated Canelo

I already know the outcome. Canelo will win a unanimous decision
There will be no knockdowns but Golovkin will come close
There's no doubt in my mind. It's a one horse race
And as obvious as Mayweather vs McGregor.

It's his nephew. He has been being pushed a little bit lately. Still haven't seen him fight.

Not sure what you mean by big. Like number of fights? Because Joseph Diaz is the only other good name on that list. It's a weak undercard even for PPV. I say that because PPV under cards are generally pretty weak.

Re: Golovkin-Canelo OFFICIAL!!!- Sept 16th
This fight doesn't even need an undercard
Question, will Alvarez be pound for pound number one
When he dominates Golovkin or does he need to do more?
I guess Crawford is the number one at the moment.

Even if somehow Canelo beats GGG, IMO he still wouldn't even have a case for #1 p4p. GGG is a great fighter but I think a bit overrated. He was outside my top 5 not too long ago but with the loss of chocolatito, Kovalev pending on how well he comes back, and Rigo being inactive, he may have snuck back in.
Canelo is a fringe p4p fighter so if he does win somehow, he becomes a legit one and maybe gets to around the 5 spot depending how impressive the win is.
The better question is, if GGG dominates, does Canelo have any case for being a p4p fighter?

Sure but it's more of a Friday night fights main event type of fight. It should be a decent scrap but nothing great
-
Re: Golovkin-Canelo OFFICIAL!!!- Sept 16th
Caballero-DeLaHoya looks a good fight (on paper at least), bookies can't split them, Oscar rolling the dice.
@Batman this undercard makes our Sky/Matchroom ones look like gold.

I'm leaning towards De La Hoya, Caballero is decent but has been very inactive and hasn't looked that good in recent times. I thought the Hall fight was much closer than those cards suggested.

Re: Golovkin-Canelo OFFICIAL!!!- Sept 16th
The more I look at this fight the more I swerve violently back to Golovkin.
What exactly does Canelo bring that Golovkin hasn't seen? Nothing. Golovkin's seen and beat every style, that's the whole benefit of having 500 million amateur bouts - bigger, faster, stronger, slicker etc.
Liam Smith was able to trap and pressure Canelo - but clearly didn't have the firepower/strength to make a dent - so how the funk is he gonna keep Golovkin off him? Canelo could be turned into Curtis Stevens, swinging for a homerun as he concentrates on protecting himself.
5.30am Wednesday - Golovkin KO/TKO/DQ 7-12 @ 3/1 (generally).

Golovkin is overrated and the hype will be exposed soon
But Chocolatito was even more overrated in my opinion.
1. Terence Crawford
2. Andre Ward
3. Saul Alvarez
4. Gennady Golovkin
5. Vasyl Lomachenko
That's how I'd rank them and the winner Saturday
Can make a strong case for being the number one
Canelo will move above Ward for sure.

Re: Golovkin-Canelo OFFICIAL!!!- Sept 16th
this is a massive fight in my head, I cant remember a fight that doesn't involve a brit that I have been more interested in
I cant wait till it kicks off
comparing it to the daft fight the other week, not 1 of my mates have even mentioned it to me
some of them are half into boxing
why is that?

Re: Golovkin-Canelo OFFICIAL!!!- Sept 16th
I feel sorry for Golovkin before this shit even starts.
If he loses he'll take Naz place as the biggest hype job in history (even though he totally dominated his era/weight for his time).

Just say to them GGG is the one that smashed Kell Brook and they will remember who he is.

Wow. I feel that you highly overrate Canelo. Even if he beats GGG, I doubt I will have him that high let alone before that. If Canelo were that good, I would expect him to beat GGG pretty easily.
I'm pretty excited to see Canelo get beat and see what your reaction is. Just don't run away after he loses.
-
Re: Golovkin-Canelo OFFICIAL!!!- Sept 16th
I still maintain Canelo made a tactical error when he fought JCC Jr. at 170. He lost any bargaining chip he may have had to try and force GGG to 154. He couldn't say any longer "I'm not a middleweight." Finally he had to accept the challenge against GGG at 160, and it'll be the only time in his career that he won't be facing someone he outweighs by 20-30 pounds at fight night.
I'm going to enjoy this one.
-
Re: Golovkin-Canelo OFFICIAL!!!- Sept 16th
@powerpuncher he will win easily and I'll be here to gloat
Boxrec actually already has him as their number one P4P.
@TitoFan I'm pretty sure Chavez out weighed Canelo
He was also much taller and had a huge reach advantage
Speed beats size so Golovkin can weigh what he wants.
