The entirity of your post there suggested that Miguel was on his way to becoming a complete fighter. (I'm not putting words in your mouth, it's just what i drew from it.)
But i feel that Cotto has a number of flaws in those departments which you defended.
I feel his movement is restricted, i feel his speed is'nt that fantastic and finally i find the pace that he sets at WW has seen him eat shots and i feel this may be exploited against a fresher more dangerous fighter than Zab or Shane.
I'm in total agreement when you say Cotto has had better opposition and proven more at 147, but my belief hasn't been swayed. I legitimately feel Ricky has the tools to beat Cotto.
If Hatton was a natural welter i would definately back him against Cotto....actually against anyone other than Mayweather (and he stil might have a shot at him). I think Hatton is a smarter fighter than Cotto is, has much better footwork and throws faster combinations. I think his chin is just (stronger than Cotto's at 140) and he sets a faster pace.Quote:

How you think that Hatton is a smarter fighter? Have you seen Cotto fight?
Heres what both guys do better than the other
Cotto is much more accurate, he has better speed, and hits harder. To go along with this he also has better boxing skills.
Hatton has better footwork, and he is a better inside fighter... he will be on your ass from start to finish which is something Cotto will not do. While Cotto does put pressure its more calculated, and delibrate. I say Hatton makes it a hard fight for Cotto because of his ability to fight on the inside... however I can't see him winning this fight... He can't take body punches all that well, and I think Cotto will bust his face up with that jab, then he will bust Hatton's body up with that left hook... from hell.
CC, agree totally. Hatton should have stayed at 140. Although he is viscious in the pocket, like you said Cotto will beat that face up something bad. Wouldn't be surprised to see it stopped from cuts if Hatton ate as many jabs as Mosley did. Credit to Hatton if he ever got in the ring with Cotto. He'll be lucky to not get mauled by Floyd.Quote:

After awhile though Mayweather will wear him down because he is so good at going to the body, and he will be landing sharp counter punches, and Mayweather hits a lot harder than anyone seems to give him credit for, notice how Oscar stopped throwing punches when Mayweather would land off the ropes?Quote:

I agree Ricky has better footwork and footspeed, and he throws from more different angles. I think there is good chance Cotto would swell up or cut Ricky badly with the jab. He's prone to that. Cotto would be too much more Hatton at 147.Quote:

What will happen when he is in the ring against the cream of the crop, the other stars of the division who are all in their prime, ie Hatton, Mayweather...or a harder puncher in Margarito, who would makes Torres's power look a little above average. He is a very good fighter, but he will be another Fernando Vargas, too suspect a chin and too many ways to hit him.Quote:

Torres has good power, he's a decent fighter. And Cotto fought recklessly against him and still whipped his ass.
Miguel Cotto is a better boxer than he gets credit for, sure he can slug it out and brawl with anyone and he has the balls to do that, but when need be he can stick and move with the best of them.
I love how all of a sudden Shane Mosley is old now....that's shit! Floyd Mayweather Jr didn't want to fight him! and it wasn't because he was "old"
CC,excellent posting.Hatton possesses neither the power nor the handspeed of Zab or Shane. At 140,Hatton wins but that does not mean a thing because they would never fight at 140.At 147 Cotto KTFo out Hatton and I have neither seen nor read anything to make me believe otherwise.Quote:

Honeyghan
...Hatton and Cotto have styles that in theory will be very difficult for Floyd to handle. If Floyd is pressured for 12 full rounds then he's not going to like it.Quote:

Ricky and Miguel dig to the body and they NEVER stop doing that.
Cottn put on all the pressure he wants, Floyd is the fighter with the best stamina in the game, so he can move for an entire fight regardless of pressure. Torres is a DECENT fighter, but the fact is he was hurt bad,and has been on the canvas multiple times against mid to slightly high level competition. Floyd has never been in trouble, even against the cream of the crop in any division he's fought. I love to watch him fight because he gives it all in the ring and fights hard, but the truth is Margarito, Floyd, Hatton, and probably Oscar could all beat him at 147, the first 2 fairly easily. Plus, we all know Shane is old, if he wasn't it would have been no contest, a young Shane destroys Cotto and we all know it.
True but since you want to talk about the past (Cause you did mention the Torres, Zab fights) how well did PBF look with JLC pressure? How well did PBF look with Chavez pressure? Hhhmmmm!! I give you a few to think about that.Quote:

Cause if your talking about Cotto can you please with that extended knowledge that you poses tell us what other fight besides the Torres fight has Cotto been down in cause I'd like to see it?
If you we're still talking about Torres in that sentence then go ahead and disreguard my question. ;)
Also keep this in mind Trinindad was on the canvas often in his career he was always written off in his career for that wow! he sure turned out to be better then what people gave 'em credit for. So Cotto wen't down if you've seen the actual fight you'll notice that Torres pushes Cotto to actually drop him. But regardless we saw what happened in the end. ;) You can be kicking my ass for 11 rounds 2 minutes and 59 seconds but if I knock your ass out in the last second then guess what? I'm still better then you even if you won almost the entire fight. Your a trainer of amateur boxers you should know that a fight ain't over 'til it's over.
That's due to his great ability and skills.Quote:

I just think Cottos to smart to try and trade with Margarito he'll out box and out hustle Margarito. As far as ODLH well he's my fav. fighter but the dudes gotten old and he showed it he couldn't close out the show against PBF and again reminded me that hes never had good legs they tend to give out on him. I think Cottos too hungry and young and would quite possibly hurt/beat ODLH and when I say beat I mean it in every sense of the word.Quote:
