I would say Williams has it in him to beat anyone at WW, including Floyd Mayweather.
yep thats the only fighter at 147 that i would give a chance of him beating Floyd
Agree with that, Floyd would really have to be on point to beat him & it would be a very close one to call. Hope Williams becomes the star he deserves to be, although his lack of swagger may count against him in the same way it seems to against Chad Dawson.

Ready the straight jacket .......:-X:jester-new:........At 147-ish I think williams beats Mayweather.I do not see Williams going back to 147 but in the now,he is constant force.
Re: <Williams-Phillips & Arreola-Walker> Double Header!! Let's talk...
Williams is pretty easy to hit but like Margarito it really doesn't mean much when you do hit him. I would like to think Miguel Cotto could really hurt Williams especially to the body but you never know.
I will say this, there is no way in hell Arreola beats either Wlad or Vitali. And I see major upside to Walker, he has a ton of pop but he needs to settle down, he was too uptight in the second round and burned off too much energy throwing so many punches, had he settled down back behind the jab it would have been only a matter of time before the fat boy was gased and couldn't continue.
David Haye has a much better shot at beating the Klitschko's as at least he comes to fight in shape. Arreola is a fucking disgrace and I can't wait to see him destroyed

The problem is Arreola is sort of a mockery the way he comes in shape for fights, that to me is a disgrace, but he is a decent boxer and throws short thudding punches and showed a pretty damn good chin, I mean he was rocked pretty good with a few punches, but the kid is confident and poised which shows he has the potential to be the goods if he can get his act together.. No shot at beating Vitali at this point, but as any puncher does he has a chance against Wlad especially the way he throws short punches from different angles
Im glad Williams is still dominating, now that Floyd is retired and Lacy is in the twilight he gives me someone to really root for and be zealous about, long with Berto and Haye etc...There are some pretty excitng young fighters out there

I agree. He has a much needed personality. He needs to step up his focus before stepping in the ring with a Klitschko.
Re: <Williams-Phillips & Arreola-Walker> Double Header!! Let's talk...
I just watched the williams/margarito fight. Does williams ever tire out? Margarito only won 2 rounds of that fight, in my opinion, and he didn't fight a bad fight. Paul williams is the man. Anybody who can do what he did to margarito is the man in my book.
Re: <Williams-Phillips & Arreola-Walker> Double Header!! Let's talk...
BTW...happy B-Day to Verno Phillips, hell of a way to celabrate it.
Re: <Williams-Phillips & Arreola-Walker> Double Header!! Let's talk...
You gotta credit Arreola for his smarts.
He got tagged he knew it and he knew what to do.
He took a knee protected himself at all times and waited in the count until he felt he was ready.
You rarely see that today from the vets, nonetheless from an up and comer. It was a nice little battle and now more then before I would like to see him fight Haye.

You know.I was thinking that rewatching it a couple. Some people take that as a sign of concession or negative. But...he did show a little something there.I still think he has a very rocky road ahead with stamina & defense questions but also that you find out the MOST about a guy when he has to climb off the deck and pulls it out.Came back brutally he did.

So, as the interim WBO belt holder, Williams is the mandatory for Drzindziruk. Anybody ever seen this guy fight? I know he won a fairly wide decision over Joel Julio a few weeks ago and has an impressive record of 36-0. Would he have much of a shot against Williams? Dan Rafael's scorecard seemed to indicate that the Goosen camp would probably at least look into the fight since the big names at 147 have other plans.
Re: <Williams-Phillips & Arreola-Walker> Double Header!! Let's talk...
The most dangerous thing about williams aside from the common advantages he has is that this guy is getting a ton of different experience in the ring that making him a more dangerous fighter after each fight. The guy has fought little guys, big guys, fast guys, slow guys, he KO'ed a full time middleweight, fended off margarito, and most important has gone through what it feels like to loose, this guy is pretty bad ass he pity pats some fights, sits on his punches in others, it was pretty impressive that even with a cut and against a smaller guy he still was patient and went to the body...the man is gaining a wealth of in ring actual fight experience not just in the gym.
Re: <Williams-Phillips & Arreola-Walker> Double Header!! Let's talk...
Lackadaisacal (no spell check here, heh)
That's how I see Paul Williams. But the man does do mean body shots.

More importantly than that he should now be the number 2 ring rated fighter at 154. A fight with Forrest would be for the currently vacant Ring title.

Rafael mentioned in one of his chats recently that that fight was unlikely to happen because Williams and Forrest both have the same manager (Al Haymon). It would make a lot of sense, though, so hopefully they can figure out some way around that.
