i just watched fight again. Had Khan a clear winner on night though I knew he was hanging on at end.
A lot closer when rewatching I had forgotten some of the good work Maidana did earlier.

It was really close. Sure Khan was flashier, but a lot of that was hitting the guard and I am beginning to question the accuracy of compubox. I thought Calzaghe beat Hopkins fair enough, but I question that Hopkins was hit cleanly that many times. I question the same thing here. For flashy combination punchers Compubox seems to go a bit mental when it seems a lot of them are not clean blows at all.
On the night I thought Khan had got it, but on watching it again realised that my scorecard would have been a draw without the point deduction. A rematch is definitely deserved. For someone with all the best coaching and all the handspeed and movement in the world, Khan was still made to go neck and neck with a crude slugger without all those advantages. It makes me question how far Khan can go and tbh right now I think these are his limits. He will never be a truly elite fighter, but I do think he can be a decent belt holder and defend against certain types of opponents.
I really think someone like Bradley is a step beyond someone like Khan.

I think your dislike of Khan has seriously clouded what you're seeing. Maidana got hit with a lot of flush shots on the chin but didn't go down. Quite a few of those shots snapped his head back. And really you don't win a 12 round boxing match by winning the last 3 rounds. That's like saying Pascal beat Hopkins by winning the 1st 3 rounds. But then again, we see what we wanted to see eh?;)

Sloppy at times, but Maidana did much more sloppy work. I just thought both gave a great account of what they bring to boxing. This is the kind of fight I wanted to see Khan in and he impressed me by coming through a pretty bad beating without landing on his arse. Full props to Khan and Maidana for a great fight.
I always bashed Khan myself in the past. If he keeps this up I won't have a reason to ever again.

Khan clearly outlanded Maidana, but Maidana still did enough to win 6 of the rounds IMO. I have no issues with Khan being given the nod, but on a round by round basis, Maidana took his share of the fight. I have no issues with giving him 6 of the 12 rounds, but can understand if some feel differently. Boxing is subjective. Pacal/Hopkins was clearly different in that Hopkins was not only landing more but was also landing the more eye catching shots as the fight wore on. I was supporting Pascal, but still think Hopkins won a close fight. I have no issues with given credit to a fighter I am backing against. On the night I thought Khan won too.

Haha, I have always had a lot of time for Tim Bradley. For the past 18 months I have been saying that I think he is the best at 140. And of course, Khan has to come along and try and prove to me otherwise....:p

Well, the way I saw it was Khan won by at least 3-4rds.
Credit to him as He chose to go in with a known banger to dispell the rumours he has no chin, which he did emphatically. I honestly carnt remember seeing a chinny boxer take soo many flush shots late in a fight from a KO artist and still stand up to it. The fact he didnt touch down or take a count was testament to his durability, conditioning and chin !
I honestly dont think he would be ready for Mayweather as soon as late 2011, although I would love to see that fight happen some time in the future on British soil!
One thing Mayweather has never done is travel, and he has, in the past mention he would like to fight in the UK. This would be the perfect fight for him to showcase his talent on foriegn soil IMO.
