Re: Game of Thrones (spoilers)
I definitely couldn't watch episode 7. It's already on some torrent sites, but I wouldn't want to wait two weeks for the next episode.
Episode 6 was definitely not my favorite. It was only a matter of time before Ned found out about Joffrey and I find myself getting antsy for the (presumed) civil war to start and to see how the alliances shake down. There are a bunch of things which I think I see coming, but I'm sure I'll be wrong about most of them.
This is still probably the best tv series I have ever seen though, and it is going to kill me waiting an entire year for the next season. I'm thinking about picking up the books, but it's kind of cool watching this show and having no idea what is going to happen next.

I was lmao at Tyrion's (the imp) confession. Don't know why, but it made me think of Chunk's confession in The Goonies.
I loved when Viserys was crowned. That was awesome, because the prick had it coming.
So Joffrey's uncle is really his daddy. Gross.
Yeah watching ep 7 kinda ruined it for me, cause now I have to wait two weeks until something new comes along, and I can't even really discuss until the next episode actually airs.
That's exactly why I didn't want to watch it, because it will suck waiting those 2 weeks for a new episode.
My Sunday nights are reserved for my HBO shows. First I'm rewatching True Bloods last season, so that I remember everything that happened for when season 4 starts in a month, and then Game of Thrones. Family Guy has to get recorded.
The one thing I hate about these HBO series, is that they are only 12 weeks long, and then it's such a long wait until the next season. :(
Yeah the wait is worth it when the return is a quality show. A lot of network shows suffer from horrible writing, bad CG, because they are basically working like a sweatshop. I know this is based off of the books, but they still have to condense to the constraints of the TV format.
Well I know why they do it the way they do, but it doesn't mean I have to like it. ;D

Re: Game of Thrones (spoilers)
Can anyone expliain the HBO Go thingy and episode 7?
If Episode 7 is available now via HBOGO/Torrents then wont episode 8 be available next week on there too? What have HBO gained in showing episode 7 now on HBOgo unless they intended screening every episode a week in advance on there? I doubt I'd want to wait 2 weeks for the next epsiode either if I downloaded 7 now
The shit thing for me is that I got my girlfriend into the show and she now makes me wait until she come's over so that we can watch it together! I wont make that mistake again when I discover a new show.
Re: Game of Thrones (spoilers)
Am I the only person who feels any sympathy at all for Viserys?
Ok he was a bit of a cunt to his sister, but he had the weight of the entire Targarian dynasty upon his shoulders and Khal Drogo completely shafted him, taking his sister, his only bargaining tool and then just fucking off with her.
I was hoping Viserys would take the eggs raise an army, and smash that primitive, long haired caveman and his peasant tribe to smithereens.
Also Calise has lost her appeal a bit now she's gone all sorceress-like. At least Viserys was human with human emotions like greed and vanity, she seems to be a bit creepy now.

Don't worry - there will probably be another nude scene that will help in this regard.

There needs to be. I cannot feel empathy for some witch who eats raw horses hearts, starts chanting in tongues, is immune to fire and wanted her brother to burn, no matter how much of a cunt he was.
In a way Viserys was one of the more human characters in the show, with a weak, scared, vain mindset that many of us could relate to. Although most will think of themselves like Ned Stark or Jon Snow in reality we are not all men of honour and Viserys was a kind of weak willed, ordinary men with the mantle of greatness weighing upon him.
Also why THE FUCK did that Stark son pardon that bitch who tried to kill Brannon and take her back to the castle? Really, as if that would have happened back then? She would have been raped, butchered and fed to the pigs.
That actually pissed me off that he saved her. I mean it's just so out of keeping with the setting and thrusts our modern sentimentality on them at a time when they just wouldn't have had it.
She should have been burned, the cow.:(

Not sure if that's a good thing considering I may have to wait over a week for episode 8.
Can anyone confirm if episode 8 will be shown a week in advance again on HBOgo this Sunday? Please say it is so....
Yeah I enjoyed it. That little cunt Joffre and his mum really piss me off. Hope Aya, the little girl gets to use her needle on him.
I don't know if I'm twisted or not but I have tended to warm towards most of the more hateful characters. I actually liked Vinerys and I really like Jaime Lanister. He's a cool dude.
I like Jon Snow, he is a pretty honorable guy I guess but I find myself not caring in the least what happens to Ned Stark. I find Littlefinger a lot more intriguing.
Re: Game of Thrones (spoilers)
What a place to end the episode. This series is just making me beg for the next episode. I guess Book 5 (A Dance with Dragons) is being released on July 12th. In contrast to Bilbo, I love Ned Stark he is the standard of high ethics of the day and shows how relatively corrupt everyone else is. It seems that everything will be changing at a rapid pace now I hope my feeble mind can keep up.

That just makes him a cardboard cliche type character, and unrealistic too as those kinds of always honorable in each and every situation type people just plain don't exist.
We always try and immortalise hero type characters, turning them into paragons of virtue and integrity.
But no such people really exist in the world, and certainly didn't back then, hence I find him a bit boring and fake. Just an always white character to whom the audience is supposed to relate as being the morally decent one.
The other characters are far more realistic.
So Littlefinger wants the crown for himself. Good on him, see that's what I want to see, a bit of authentic ambition.

Not following your logic, none of the characters exist in the real world, I guess emulating real life is not one of my requirements of enjoying fiction. How do you feel about Jesus then? Does he not have the same white character qualities? (Albeit to a different code).

Jesus was God made manifest, who lived and died a sinless death in order to pay the price for the sins of the rest of us. He wasn't a mortal human the way we are and had to come for that very reason, to live the perfect life that we aren't capable of living ourselves.
Anyway, not saying Ned Stark is Jesus level pure, he did push Littlefinger up against the wall in an act of jealously I guess. His beheading of the Nighwatch deserter was still him blamelessly following his code however.
I would like Ned a lot more if he actually did what literally every other human being would do in his situation, and make a grab for the throne, for self preservation and the security of his family as much as anything else.
Khal Drogo is growing on me a little bit. I liked the way he called Denerys his moon princess and his war speech was pretty cool. I'd rather see him king than any of the others although I guess it's unlikely to happen.
I would guess that Khal Drogo and Jaimie Lanister might well be destined to meet on the battlefield although probably not in this series with just 3 episodes to go.
I'm presuming the series will end with the Dothraki just starting to set sail and another highprofile death on the mainland..
Re: Game of Thrones (spoilers)
You guys are leaving out Ned Stark's most dishonorable act.
That sounded incredibly geeky. :p
But I would say Ned was meant to be kind of boring. If not boring, then kind of a straight man, not in the comedy sense, but in the sense of the kind of transparent, honorable guy among all the corruption, shades of gray, etc.
The fact that HBO streamed the episode early kind of killed of our debate on it. It was a much "bigger" episode than number 6.

Yeah but I'm guessing that when Jon Snow's mother is revealed she will be some kind of beautiful, enlightened sorceress or some kind of quasi-mystical figure of virtue that will somehow sanctify and justify his indiscretion, or at least try to.
She's hardly like to be a bar wench is she..
