You know that for sure?
Can you give an example in the history of this SPORT where the Bigger named Champion being chased in the higher weight moved down
for the B-Side opponent?
Even Sugar Ray Leonard moved up to 160 to fight the B-Side opponent in Hagler.
You want Pacquiao to do something that has never been done in this SPORT WTF you guys realize that dont you?
there are plenty of examples
Mayweather dropped down from 154 to 147 after capturing his title against DLH to fight Hatton
hell Manny just dropped down from 150 (cause he wont fight a guy at a full weight limit unless they're shot) to fight Dusty Shane Mosley at 147
so stop your babbling and making excuses as to why Manny wouldn't be able to do what he's asked every one of his opponents
Re: Pacman vs JMM 11/5 2011 at.........145
I am just not interested to see this fight at all. This "trilogy" should have been made and finished 5 years ago, now neither PAc or JMM have a compatible frame for an interesting bout.
Re: Pacman vs JMM 11/5 2011 at.........145
There are just so many things that are wrong with this thread.
JMM fought Floyd at a catchweight of 144 and Floyd came in overweight. It will be a (more) fair fight against Pac who is a little guy.
If u think that Margarito is shot, or was for the Pacquiao fight you are a r-e-t-a-r-d.
SRR could go up to 160 because he was 5'10" tall. Sure, he could fight Marvin Hagler, who, at that point in his career was pretty much shot. I mean leagues better than any middleweight (SMW) we have today, but shot as far as his own skill was concerned.
I just don't see how everyone thinks the fight is going to lose momentum because both guys are fighting at a higher weight. JMM just plain could not catch Floyd. Floyd ran ran ran and pot shot all night. An excellent strategy against a small Mexican fighter. Manny cannot use this strategy, b/c he is a come forward fighter.
Pac has jumped up and down the scales, but look at his weight FIGHT NIGHT.. That is was matters. He only gains 1-4 pounds. If he cut weight he would be KILLing people in lower weight divisions. Realize what you have is a guy that his talent is so overwhelming he fights NAMES. If he fought Tim Bradley and Devon Alexander and KOed them, everybody would say he fought guys that didn't get a chance to develop yet. Do you really think Berto would have even been a challenge? Or even Ortiz? Pac can fight whoever he wants, and if you do not think that JMM has a snowballs chance you are just wrong. The guy is built like a brick-shithouse. Yeah he couldn't chance Floyd on his bicycle, but neither could DeLa Hoya at JMW.
Floyd came in fight night to fight DLH at 150 for a 154lb fight btw. I hardly consider his "moving up and back down the scales" for having done that then going back to WW. People are tuning a blind eye to the scales here. Pacquiao's resumee is so much better than Floyds it's ridiculous.

Yeah. You got me :(
But Hatton is arguably not a B-Side opponent.

150 down to 147 to fight Mosley is what makes my statement wrong.
Hatton can be argued as not a B-Side opponent because of his Zealot Fans.
