Re: Haye ChIsora press conference brawl
Let's be honest here. Chisora marched 20 feet and took his jacket off on the way. He wasn't going over there for a chat. If I was in a pub, p!ssed or otherwise and someone stomped towards me (after we'd exchanged words) while taking their jacket off I would take that as a signal that they were about to start something.
I agree that Haye's actions were more criminal, and I also agree that he shouldn't have even been there. But it's no tragedy if Chisora has to sit out for a year. To be honest spitting in people's faces and a completely unprovoked slap at a weigh-in could arguably warrant a 12-month ban even WITHOUT the brawling.

Fenster is right, Haye did take the first punch because Chisroa was going to do something. Haye is guilty of throwing the first punch so could be in trouble but he could argue in his defence it was a pre-emptive strike because Chisora was not going over to just speak to him as Chisora has a reputation for kissing, biting, slapping and squirting people in front of him.
Re: Haye ChIsora press conference brawl
Suspend both from the ring for 12 months!
Re: Haye ChIsora press conference brawl
How the funk can boxing fans WANT boxers suspended? Who cares what they do?
It was just a micky mouse punch up. No one was killed. Haye-Chisora meant NOTHING before that fight now it would be MASSIVE in Britain. I'd love to see it.

True, no one was killed, and a bit of hyping for a fight is great to raise the profile and add a bit of interest from the general public. But when things go too far and the words 'shocking' and 'disgraceful' are bandied around it just damages the sport. I was an amateur boxer until 2008 with a record I was proud of but to be honest it got to the stage where I was so fed up of defending the sport I loved to people who kept telling me it's full of thugs that I just stopped talking about it. Someone actually said to me at work once "To me it's the same as WWF wrestling", which is probably the most ignorant comment I've ever heard, but when you see people slapping each other at a weigh-in, spitting water at people, mouthing off to a ridiculous degree, refusing to show respect to their peers and brawling like morons in a pub car park, it becomes harder and harder to refute such comments. Boxing coverage in mainstream media is already awful and stuff like this just pushes it further and further from where it should be.
Re: Haye ChIsora press conference brawl
Ridick Bowe, Larry Holmes, Tyson, Liston, Golota.
They all killed boxing right?
Sorry but this is NOTHING new at all, why people are losing their shit over it is beyond me.
A press conference brawl isn't hurt boxing at all relative to greedy promoters, protected fighters, TV networks squeezing money out of the public, constant mismatches, talent going to other sports etc etc.
But yeah... Lets all lose our shit over a press conference brawl.

Yes it was hype set in a classic boxing tradition. It gets everyone talking and was one of the only times I have see BBC world cover boxing for more than 60 seconds. There were negative adjectives to describe it, but it was there and most of us thought the brawl was great fun. The media has to be stiff upper lipped and say it was horrid, but we all liked it.
Press charges, let everyone rant and then get the fight signed.

Remember my friend this is pro boxing, pro and amateur are two different animals this happened
out side the ring. What we had were two pro fighter's in a press conference having a set too, this
did not happen in the ring, come on you have seen plenty of brawls after a fight in the ring, and outside
the media is just fuelling the fire. When has pro boxing been pillow fighting some part's may be seeder or unsavoury but the media feed on this. This week news next week history it's a fact!;)
Re: Haye ChIsora press conference brawl
Yeah, don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying this is the worst thing that’s ever happened to the sport and I know it happens all the time. You’ve only got to google the phrase “Press conference brawl”, even without the word “boxing” and you get a ton of examples. Also, I totally agree with AdamGB’s post that there are far worse things going on. I’m not ‘outraged’ or ‘disgusted’ or any other tabloidisms, it’s just an aspect of the sport that I think we could do without, especially when it’s two British fighters. And especially when both sides (ie Frank Warren and Adam Booth) have now said they’re not interested in Haye – Chisora.
Although as you say, the media aren’t afraid to milk the situation. And totally agree that this week’s news is next week’s history.
