Broner vs. Rees/Sakio Bika vs. Nikola Sjekloca on HBO Saturday - fight/chat thread

Rees did display quite a lot of heart and boxed very well in the beginning with tons of movement and very good hand speed. Sadly (and not surprisingly), the dickhead won but I think that Rees deserves some nice props for what he showed.

Broner was quite entertaining but rees won the first two rounds.

Broner needs to work on his defense as if rees had more power he would have been in trouble.

So many negative views again about broner where as only a short while ago it was broner ducking burns.

Broner is just as cocky as roy jones or naz or floyd..perhaps alittle bit more but im very surprised how it affects alot of members on here.

This guy needs to make as much money as he can in this job and his mouth can increase that.

the guy is a nob, probable we are seeing a great fighter, humble is a word Broner will never use.

Cocky is one thing, but little boner just comes off as a classless moron. I really believe he was a crack baby, just utter filth.

Was gonna check in last night, but went to bed instead. (This time zone is a bitch for live televised events). Anyway, I agree with the majority of the posts. Broner is a major talent, but is a disrespectful asshole. Gavin Rees gave 110% out there and made it a good, entertaining fight. Respect your fellow professional fighters, moron! All this is going to accomplish is creating a huge line of boxing fans just waiting for Broner to get his ass kicked so they can cheer as loud as they can.

There's one certainty about a Broner-Rios fight:
An asshole is going to get his ass kicked. ;D

There's no doubt that Broner is very talented and the fight last night went exactly as I expected, but the guy has no class at all.

It's OK to be cocky or a little arrogant, as long as it is slightly amusing and tongue in cheek, but Broner just comes across as someone trying to be something he's not. He's trying to be funny and fails miserably. Everything he says just makes me think he's a try hard and a total dickhead with no respect for his opponents.

I Look forward to the day someone knocks his head off.

I gotta be honest... He got hit way too much for my liking. Having said that I think he will enjoy himself at 135.

On the rewatch. I don't know if he even realizes that if Rees had serious pop how he could have been 'Nate Campbell'd' with that sucker left hook. He better find a backfoot, quick.

I agree.

If Rees had any power Broner could have been put on his arse.

Having said that, he probably felt the weight of a couple of punches early on and decided he could afford to take shots to land his own. I can't imagine him being quite so sloppy against a big puncher.

To me it felt like Broner only fought in short bursts and carried Rees. Every single time Broner put punches together Rees looked totally outclassed and Broner could have ended the fight at any time he wanted.

I'm glad to see you decided to watch the fight....Hard resist hoping to see Broner will finally get shut up isn't it ? His lil villain Floyd gimmick works.

Thats mostly why I watch him, and he is a very good talent.

Anyway, you guys were hard on Bika, he looked improved, just not drastically. Gotta love that crazy, ugly, tough bastard. Always brings it.

Rees fought bravely and showed how easy Broner can be to hit. He particularly highlighted how easy it is to land the left hook to the body on Broner, and there are better, harder punching Mexican fighters out there like Brandon Rios who are chomping at the bit to land that hook to the body on hair brush boy.

I say bring on Rios or Amir Khan in the near future. Either would be a very intriguing match up. Or Matthysse, who could get out slicked all night then land one and end it brutally.

The thing is with Broner, at this moment in time, he is a cheap copy of Mayweather one thing he
does not have Floyd s defensive skills. Rees hit him far to many times, regardless Broner could
take his punches. Out there there is some one that's going to put Broner, in his place when it
happens a lot of people will be cheering from the rafters.
Must say he is a fine boxer, but he needs to be a bit humble cut out the BS , that's why I like
Burns he's a class act, there's a saying Mr Broner you can't polish a turd.;)

Broner was an arrogant arsehole in the HBO interview but when he was interviewed with Rees on Sky afterwards he was quite different. The classless arsehole image he projects is just to get fans either loving or hating him (obviously mainly hating him) but most importantly interested in him and talking about him. Even if it's just to see him lose people are going to watch him, there's going to be a buzz about him and that will translate into PPV dollars along the line (if he keeps winning.)

So don't be too hard on the guy, he's only being an arsehole to make money. I can empathise with that.
