Gonzales tried to knock Burns out for 6 rounds. Why would he take the risk of beating the man he had been paid to quit against ? If he had bigger cojones he could make a big noise in the division. Power in both hands and good technique. There was no corruption.

He had no legs after rd 7 under him. That was obvious to me and he most likely would have been stopped. He's a fringe contender that nobody has heard about with a 22/0 17 ko record and I'm sure they went for the Rtd instead of being tko'd. It was most likely a business decision.Quote:

Ricky Burns has the heart and the mindset of a champion.
Gonzalez has long arms and he's well-schooled, but sometimes that's not enough.
In round 7, Gonzalez ran into the stone wall of Ricky Burns determination to win, and couldn't get through it.
I do understand what a lot of you are saying, I don't know I just think he might have been able to carry on. It's tough to say really, I wouldn't mind watching it again.
