IMO he was hurt very bad. In fact, had the ref not taken the time to let Hatton get his booties tied he would have gotten ktfo. Hurt pretty bad. guy eats punches like candy. A poor performance and from 1-10 I'd say a 5.
Damn that bad ?? how much time did he get to recover ??
Just my opinion, but he was hurting. He was trying to hold for a minute and then I believe the ref separated them and then noticed his shoe laces untied, so he got about an extra 30 seconds for that; if I remember correctly. He would have been in alot of trouble had he not been given the break. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Well Hatton was def. on queer street, but you can't say what would have happened. There is no way of knowing.
I thought that the ref in Malignaggi was just as bad. Right off the bat in a round that previously Paulie was knocked around, the ref stops the fight to tie his hair back.
the ref should have let them continue fighting, he is the dumbass that brought that shit into the ring.

Yeah, 10th round. You can go back to page 14 of this thread Fenster, as you can see the reactions of some posters from that left hook he ate that hurt him.
Yeah Boozeboxer, I really can't say what would have happened if the ref hadn't of let him tie his shoes, but he was in a bad spot.

Re: Ricky Hatton Vs Juan Lazcano Pick, RD By RD, Results FREE FOR ALL CHAT
similarities to how Naz's Career played out are freaky...
wins some great fights massive fan base...
Leaves Frank Warren and heads off to the states has a few scares on the waybefore losing to a top P4P in america getting his head bashed in the corner :o
comes back against an easy opponent in the UK but looks unimpressive over 12 round.
makes me wonder if that was his last fight....
because if you remember Naz had a deal with HBO and was also claiming he he wanted a rematch but then never fought again.
makes you think ;)

Re: Photos: Hatton-Lazcano, Paulie-Ndou
Some nice photos there. For anyone who didn't watch the fight Hatton was not knocked down, he slipped.

Re: Ricky Hatton Vs Juan Lazcano Pick, RD By RD, Results FREE FOR ALL CHAT
You guys are giving Hattona pretty hard time (saddo). I don't think its his last fight. Juan was very game and took alot of punches. Not only did he take alot of punches, he retained his strength. Also even though Hatton didn't impress, I didn't think the fight was that close at all.

Oh right
If your laces come undone it's probably a smart move to get them done up ;)

Re: Ricky Hatton Vs Juan Lazcano Pick, RD By RD, Results FREE FOR ALL CHAT
Also, one of the reasons I think he was hurt bad was that he seemed to not even have the strength to hold on to Lazcano. I have seen Ricky take some good shots that stunned him, but he would clinch. He seemed to have no strength to hold on for a few seconds and was really just falling on Lazcano. That kind of told me he was hurting.

Re: Ricky Hatton Vs Juan Lazcano Pick, RD By RD, Results FREE FOR ALL CHAT
Hatton only lost a couple of rounds in my scorecards. But those 2 rounds almost cost him the fight.
Hatton needs to avoid the "cheek hooks". Lazcano caught him with those shots but they weren't really flushed.

Re: Ricky Hatton Vs Juan Lazcano Pick, RD By RD, Results FREE FOR ALL CHAT
He was hurt real bad. But to say that Hatton would have been knocked out for good in that round, (which is what the scores would have required) is speculative at best.

I have to tell you ,On the replay he was really caught with mutiple shots...Bear with me.In the 8th at 1:15 Lazcano caught him underneathe of Hattons lead right hand with very good left,Stunned Hatton reaches in and grabs/Stumbles bent over in corner,Lazcano lands hard right to middle of Hatton high on belt.Hatton grabs on in the corner with both hands.Almost repeated the process at 58 sec. with a lazcano left hook and took a few before Hatton started punching back at 38 sec mark
The 10th smelled of favoritism imo..Hatton lands big right hand and falls in.Lazcano catches him with short left hook about 1 minute mark and Hatton is stood up straight,Steps forward and throws week jab....Lazcano lands a wider lefthook ,followed by another on point of chin and another clubbing one on head.Hatton reaches in and holds,in a 90 angle on the ropes with Lazcano throwing the ref breaks them and warns Lazcano for pushing down,All the while Hatton is standing in corner holding up his left foot showing the ref his untied boot,And the ref obliges him.A big break. I Need more coffee :-X

Re: Ricky Hatton Vs Juan Lazcano Pick, RD By RD, Results FREE FOR ALL CHAT
It didn't smell of favoritism, it was favoritism. We can argue all night, but I don't think you can dispute that.

I knew people would be saying he got knocked down, despite walking on to a couple of shots i think he did quite well considering he was shitting him self at the thought of having to please 56,000odd paying fans, coming from a brutal knockout loss

I noticed that, I saw Lazcano caught him with one close to the turnbuckle as well ;D

Yeah, kind of hard to say, and meaningless to say he would/wouldn't have been knocked out, as we'll never know.
Hatton is one of my top 5 favorite fighters, so it's hard for me to be hard on him, but he looked like crap. ! minute into round one I said he looked off.
But I hope he gets his head right, as he will have a rough ending to his career if he fights some other guys the way he fought tonight.

Re: Ricky Hatton Vs Juan Lazcano Pick, RD By RD, Results FREE FOR ALL CHAT
Honestly how far off was he compared to the Uraunga fight/?? I thought he looked very similar to that. Clearly winning, but not sharp.
-
Re: Ricky Hatton Vs Juan Lazcano Pick, RD By RD, Results FREE FOR ALL CHAT
Also I am sure you have talked about this in previous pages on this thread, but Oscar just makes me sick. everything he says is just bullshit. "I will win." Yank yank.
Like the Boss says in Reservoir Dogs not to listen to the gut shot Tim Roth, "it will just be more bullshit."
Then the announcers talk about how he never avoided anyone. Yet they forget to mention WINKY. He also avoided getting up in the B-Hop fight to take his whipping like a man. And someone who never avoided anyone would find as worth an opponent as Steve Forbes.

Re: Ricky Hatton Vs Juan Lazcano Pick, RD By RD, Results FREE FOR ALL CHAT
Just got back from the fight.
How hurt was he?
To me in the 8th (i think) he looked on his way down but then seemed to recover really quickly. Got tagged a few more times in the 10th i think but didn't look to be in a bad way. Hard to tell when you're there.
Anyway from what i could see, he looked ok for his comeback fight. Lazcano was very game. More of a nuisance than anything.
Looked like he was breaking Lazcano's will but he couldn't quite get him out of there.

Re: Ricky Hatton Vs Juan Lazcano Pick, RD By RD, Results FREE FOR ALL CHAT
Ive just finished watching the fight now. Hatton fought pretty well out there. He went twelve hard rounds and outworked Lazcano in each of them. It wasnt a perfect display but for a first fight back after a KO loss it was good enough.
Hatton boxed pretty effectively in there but was reckless at times. But then again when isnt he? He gets tagged in every fight. Some of this talk of Hatton being in trouble is over the top IMO. This is boxing, not ballet. Hatton gets tagged and comes on back. Not a bother.
Going by this form Hatton will walk through Malignaggi and probably try to bust him up worse than Cotto did to prove a point. Hatton fought 12 at a decent pace for the first time in a while which was good. His body work was sharp and he was throwing more effective combinations. Ricky does need to sharpen up a little more though. He is still smothering himself too much when he could step back and come back in with more effective combos. And he needs to watch some of those wild hooks that are a mile off...cant get too careless.
I think part of the wildness was because Ricky was eager to impress. To an extent he did, but he needs to continue to refine his skills as he moves on from this.

Re: Photos: Hatton-Lazcano, Paulie-Ndou
Wow Hatton got some real shots by Lazcano in those pic......
And about Paulie the fight was very close SD Hmmmmm , i didnt see that fight , but was real close that decision ?.............:-\

I couldn't agree more Miles ;)

Re: Ricky Hatton Vs Juan Lazcano Pick, RD By RD, Results FREE FOR ALL CHAT
Well put Miles. I don't think it was horrendous and Lazcano obviously had a lot of fight in him I think he comes out of this with a lot more credit then he went in with. I would like to see him face Lamont Peterson.

Re: Ricky Hatton Vs Juan Lazcano Pick, RD By RD, Results FREE FOR ALL CHAT
Just like what I predicted, HAtton would win by UD.
I have observed that a fighter usually wins by decision (if he wins) after a lose (especially after a TKO). It's really hard to regain the confidence of knocking people when you have been knocked out in your previous fight.
-
Re: Photos: Hatton-Lazcano, Paulie-Ndou
" Spectaculars pics Diane " Hatton look very bad , i never seen Hatton like that , even when was KO by Mayweather........................

Re: Photos: Hatton-Lazcano, Paulie-Ndou
Wow I didn't notice Hatton got beat up that bad, to me Lazcano didn't land any big punchs,.. okay maybe 1..

How did Matthew get on? I missed that one..
-
Re: Ricky Hatton Vs Juan Lazcano Pick, RD By RD, Results FREE FOR ALL CHAT
He lost a UD, Watson was just too fast and outworked Hatton to take command of the fight. Hes a very good fighter for the future IMO.
