Re: Floyd Mayweather JR / Manny Pacquiao - NEWS STREAM - It's on
Apparently everything is signed and tickets are for sale
"Floyd Mayweather will indeed fight Manny Pacquiao in what is expected to become the highest-grossing boxing pay-per-view (PPV) of all time, despite some hiccups that kept contracts from being signed for the May 2 showdown, which takes place inside MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
"We resolved all of the issues and now we're waiting for the paperwork," Top Rank CEO Bob Arum told Yahoo! Sports. "I said on the call that if what we agreed upon is in the paperwork we receive, we will sign it and the tickets will be released."
The biggest obstacle was the allocation of tickets, which need to be split among the promoters and of course, the venue. While the Mayweather side had no issues with the agreement in place, Arum -- who represents Team Pacquiao -- claimed otherwise.
Water under the bridge, as contracts should be signed within the hour. That's thanks to President and CEO of CBS Corporation Leslie Moonves, who was instrumental in making this shared fight between HBO and Showtime come together in the first place.
Tickets will be made available to the public at a cost of $1,500, $2,500, $3,500, $5,000 and $7,500, according to the report, and could go on sale as early as today (Weds., April 22, 2015). More details will undoubtedly be revealed during today's "Mayweather vs. Pacquiao" conference call."

Re: Floyd Mayweather JR / Manny Pacquiao - NEWS STREAM - still on!
Leslie Moonves has done it again.
The president and CEO of CBS Corporation, whose involvement was credited with helping Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao reach a deal to fight each other, saved the day a second time.
A dispute between Top Rank, Mayweather Promotions and the MGM Grand was putting the fight at risk. But a late morning conference call resolved all outstanding issues, Top Rank chairman Bob Arum told Yahoo Sports on Wednesday.
he May 2 welterweight bout at the MGM Grand, which is expected to be the largest-grossing fight in history, is now officially on. There had been disputes over allocation of tickets, credentials and hotel rooms, among other things, and despite the fact that the fighters had signed to face each other in February, there hadn't been a contract between the promoters and the MGM.
Arum said he and Top Rank president Todd duBoef met with Moonves and Mayweather adviser Al Haymon and that nothing now stands in the way of the fight going forward.
"We resolved all of the issues and now we're waiting for the paperwork," Arum said. "I said on the call that if what we agreed upon is in the paperwork we receive, we will sign it and the tickets will be released."
There will be a small number of tickets made available to the public at a cost of $1,500, $2,500, $3,500, $5,000 and $7,500. It was not immediately clear at exactly what time the tickets will be on sale, but both Arum and duBoef said it should be mid-to-late afternoon Pacific time.
DuBoef said the written contract is expected to be at Top Rank by 1 p.m. Pacific time.

Only 500 tickets for the general public ?
"Only 500 tickets are expected to be made available to the public for the welterweight unification clash between Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao in Las Vegas on May 2.Fears that the fight was under threat due to a stand-off over ticketing have faded after MGM Resorts International announced seats for the €464 million showdown will go on sale at 8pm on Thursday night.
The brinkmanship came to an end on Wednesday evening when the contracts between the hotel and the promotional companies representing Mayweather and Pacquiao were signed, just 10 days before the richest fight in history is due to take place."

It's not the fight contract. That was signed and posted by Mayweather.
The contract is the Venue Contract.
I think the whole thing is a promotion scam itself. The contract not being signed smells of creating greater demand for the over-inflated non-existent tickets. MGM wouldn't have published the fight announcement without an agreement in place. The fact that there wasn't any real grumblings going on gives us a clue that the conflict is staged.
Notice with all the moneys being made with this fight, nothing has been said about the venue bid. Remember the middle east put up $110 million to get the venue. My guess is that the MGM would have had to at least matched that. So who is getting it and how is it being divided. Is it that Pacquiao is being kept in the dark by secret Mayweather and Arum agreement? Or is this something they are not mentioning to hide it from the Government? There are moneys involved in this fight that is not being mentioned to the public. No talks were ever mentioned about moving the venue because it was one of the very early issues easily addressed.

Re: Floyd Mayweather JR / Manny Pacquiao - NEWS STREAM -Klitschko bout overshadowed
It seems Wlad's fight with Jennings has been overshadowed by the big one
Heavyweight boxing champion Wladimir Klitschko, the dominant star of what was once the sport's most glamorous division, is struggling to get attention for his New York title defence Saturday.
Seldom is the 1.98m Ukraine giant dwarfed by anything, but the huge interest in next week's long-awaited welterweight showdown between Filipino icon Manny Pacquiao and unbeaten US star Floyd Mayweather has turned Klitschko's first US bout since 2008 into an afterthought.
The fight isn't a sellout at Madison Square Garden, where Britain's Lennox Lewis and American Evander Holyfield staged a heavyweight showdown for an undisputed crown in 1999 that ended in a controversial draw.
And Klitschko, despite huge success, has not captivated US fight fans.
"Confused is what it's all about," says former heavyweight champion George Foreman of Klitschko's place in boxing history.
"Klitschko has had a good career. He hasn't been invited into the picture into the United States.
"It doesn't seem like there is anyone around who can beat him. It's going to take someone very special to dethrone Klitschko."

The MGM has sold 50,000 $150 tickets to watch the big fight on TV
"Charging people $150 apiece to watch the Floyd Mayweather-Manny Pacquiao fight at a closed-circuit viewing party in Las Vegas might have seemed steep when MGM Resorts International announced the price. Now, it appears the company could have charged far more. MGM has sold 50,000 tickets and is trying to find room in its 10 hotel/casino properties on the strip for another 15,000 people willing to pay $150 to watch the May 2 fight on closed circuit, said Jay Rood, vice president of race and sports books for MGM.
MGM has never hosted more than 15,000 people at viewing parties for a boxing match and never charged more than $100 per person, according to Rood, who said the 50,000 tickets sold on Thursday in a matter of hours."

Mosely and Hatton both agree that Manny hits harder than Floyd
"Having felt both guys punch, Pacquiao is the harder puncher because I went down. I was dizzy when I got up. I felt in that fight I didn't have a chin anymore," Mosley, who lost to Pacquiao in 2011, told ESPN.com.
Hatton, who fell to Pacquiao in two rounds, said there was no comparison.
"First thing I noticed about Manny was his speed like in the Floyd fight. But he was heavy-handed, a lot more heavy-handed than Floyd. He punches were more explosive. Floyd is more calculated. Manny clipped me with a lead right hook and even the non-power punches felt very, very heavy-handed," said Hatton.

Host John Saunders saying “Because of his history with domestic violence if the cable companies came to my home, paid me to watch the fight, and hooked it up and gave me surround-sound they could not get me to watch this fight with this guy.”
and Liberal Leprechaun Mike Lupica said “I’ve watched plenty of rich, talented meatheads in my career, but if there were an unofficial competition of the all-time champion of them, Floyd Mayweather is the winner before he even steps into the ring next Saturday night.”
And of course although he's not on 'The Sports Reports' he IS working at ESPN again, Keith Olbermann is also NOT watching the fight.

Re: Floyd Mayweather JR / Manny Pacquiao - NEWS STREAM - Roach says time has come
Roach claims the time has come to put Bully Mayweather in his place
After four rounds of sparring, working the mitts and a light workout, Fighter of the Decade, eight-division world champion and boxing superhero Congressman MANNY "Pacman" PACQUIAO (57-5-2, 38 KOs) completed his final day of training camp at Wild Card Boxing Club in Hollywood, Calif. on Monday.
From there the Pacquiao caravan, including a luxury bus festooned from stem to stern with Manny's image (photos attached) , began its trek to Las Vegas for Fight Week, celebrating his May 2 welterweight world championship unification battle against undefeated FLOYD "Money" MAYWEATHER JR. (47-0, 26 KOs), at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
"Our long international boxing nightmare will soon be over," declared Hall of Fame trainer World-Famous Freddie Roach. "Boxing has been held hostage by Floyd Mayweather and his antics long enough. Manny is going to stand up to Floyd on May 2 and put a bully in his place. On paper – and in the sports books – Manny shouldn't stand a chance. But neither did David against Goliath.
"Just remember, Manny has always come out on top when he was the underdog and you don't have to look any further than his victories over Ledwaba, Barrera and De La Hoya. As Manny said earlier, 'It is time for Floyd to lose.' Manny is on a mission. This fight is his crusade. The fans of the world are rooting for Manny to win just like they willed this fight to happen. He is their champion. This will be their victory."

Last week, Floyd Mayweather made waves when he told ESPN's Stephen A. Smith that he's better than Muhammad Ali and Sugar Ray Leonard. "No one can ever brainwash me to make me believe that Sugar Ray Robinson and Muhammad Ali was better than me," he said. "No one could ever brainwash me and tell me that."
A few days later, TMZ caught up with George Foreman, who responded to Floyd's claim, siding with Money Mayweather, saying, "Pound for pound, Floyd is better than me and Muhammad Ali ever were," he said. "This is a better generation by far," Foreman said. "They're smarter, they're stronger, they're overall just better fighters." But what does Ali think?
Earlier today, we finally got Ali's response through Twitter.
That "Don't you forget" line isn't just intended for Floyd, it's for anyone else doubting Ali as the greatest ever. *cough Foreman cough*

Re: Floyd Mayweather JR / Manny Pacquiao - NEWS STREAM - T-shirt war
T-shirt war
What's a little merchandise sniping? Floyd Mayweather vs Manny Pacquiao has kicked up a lot of discussion, debate, previews, analysis, and some just plain ol' nonsense, and these t-shirts probably qualify as plain ol' nonsense. That said, they're pretty fun.
Mayweather's team sold (and sold out of) a t-shirt depicting the fighter superimposed over the colors of the Filipino flag:
Pacquiao, a legit national hero and even an elected official in the Philippines, didn't really care, though: "That's good," Pacquiao said, before creasing up with laughter. "I like that. He wants to join our team. TMT - The Manny Team."
Not content to go quietly, another t-shirt, a pro-Manny work of art, picked up some attention at yesterday's arrival events. That one is displayed up at the top of this article, and is a fan-made piece, depicting a Pacman eating a dollar sign. If Pacquiao wins, that one might need to go up for sale. Or perhaps someone will just steal the design and put it on redbubble or etsy and make life easier for those who want it. Or harder. Maybe it'll be a $70 Gildan t-shirt.

Re: Floyd Mayweather JR / Manny Pacquiao - NEWS STREAM -Pacman no show
Pacquiao did not turn up for the MGM press op instead choosing to have a fan rally at Mandaly bay
"More than 50 people stood on the stage shortly after 3 p.m. Tuesday afternoon at the MGM Grand Garden Arena, but the scene still looked lacking.
An unnecessary plural hung on the banner serving as the event’s backdrop. Instead of grand arrivals, this was just a grand arrival.
A driver of a Mercedes van branded with The Money Team logo on both sides chauffeured Floyd Mayweather Jr. through the venue where he’ll compete Saturday in the fight of the century, but his opponent stayed down the street. Manny Pacquiao passed on the festivities, creating a rare occurrence where two combatants don’t usher in a major fight week by meeting face to face.
Pacquiao held a separate “fan rally” at Mandalay Bay in the morning.
“If I didn’t show up to the grand arrival and I said, ‘Do it somewhere else,’ it would be on the front page because the standards are always different,” Mayweather groaned.
The relatively minor dispute was the latest in a series of disagreements between the camps of the two most popular boxers in the world and a fight-week illustration of why their fight took a half-decade to put together."

Re: Floyd Mayweather JR / Manny Pacquiao - NEWS STREAM -Manny's fist of God stuff
Fist of God ? Seriously? :vd: Apparently like Jason Donovan Joseph he also had a dream
"MANILA (AFP) - Filipino boxing hero Manny Pacquiao is confident he can beat American arch-rival Floyd Mayweather in Las Vegas on Saturday with the power of God, after abandoning a life he said was packed with sin condemning him to hell.
Pacquiao is in top form both in mind and spirit after he traded his boozing, gambling and womanising ways for a devout life of prayer, his spiritual adviser, Jeric Soriano, told AFP in a recent Manila interview.
"Manny is a God-fearing man. Inside his heart of hearts he really loved God. Except the world got to him," Soriano said of Pacquiao's party-boy lifestyle before he became born-again in 2012.
Pacquiao now dreams of becoming a pastor and is building a 6,000-square metre "worship house" in his southern Philippine hometown of General Santos as a monument to his spiritual rebirth, Soriano said."
With Soriano's help, Pacquiao a few years ago converted to the born-again faith, which shuns many Catholic traditions such as religious images but emphasises strict adherence to the bible.
He is now building a church, to be called: "The Word for Everyone" and which can accommodate up 5,000 people, in his southern hometown of General Santos, pastor Boy Buan, who is overseeing the construction, said.
In 2012, Pacquiao acknowledged he had succumbed to many of the temptations on offer to ultra-wealthy sportsmen, after the Philippine media for many years dined out on rumours of infidelity, drinking and gambling.
"I do realise I was a weak person before. If I had died the other year, I believe my soul would have ended in hell," Pacquiao told reporters then. "I had faith, but I was doing things which were against the will of God."
In an interview last month before heading to the United States to train for this weekend's Mayweather megafight - predicted to pull in around US$400 million as the two best boxers of a generation finally go head-to-head after years of protracted on-off negotiations - Pacquiao again reflected on his earlier life.
"All the things I loved and wanted were the same things that were most detestable before the eyes of God. I was a sinner," Pacquiao said.
Soriano said Pacquiao confided to him that he felt he was wasting his millions of dollars in boxing earnings on vices.
"Why can't I channel that instead to a church that will speak the word of God?" he recalled Pacquiao saying.
Like the prophets in the Old Testament, Pacquiao claimed God appeared to him in a dream, according to Soriano, a television commercial director who had worked with the boxer in the past.
"He was in a forest, a strong light hit him and pierced his body and he heard a voice asking him: Where are you? Why have you left me?" Soriano said.
Pacquiao was crying in his dream and he woke up with his pillow soaked in tears, and he was soon telling anyone who would listen the almighty joy of being a believer, he said.
Watercooler chats about fast cars with his staff then turned into bible studies as Pacquiao tried to infect them with his new-found faith, according to Soriano.
"They say he's fast in the ring. But when he received Jesus Christ, there was also speed in his (spiritual) growth. He has this hunger to know Jesus," he said.
The conversion also played a crucial role in saving his marriage to wife Jinkee with whom he now has five children, according to Soriano.
Soriano said he became convinced Pacquiao the bible man was the real deal when he held on to his faith even after he suffered a crushing defeat to Timothy Bradley in 2012.
"He got it. He didn't throw Jesus away. He didn't see Jesus as a lucky charm. I knew it was real," Soriano said.
A few weeks ago, Soriano said he got a phone call from Pacquiao at 2:30am in Manila.
It was the afternoon in the boxing legend's Los Angeles training camp.
"He said, pastor how are you? I am not worried. I am not stressed in this fight. God will bless me with favour. Victory belongs to us," Soriano said.
Publicly, Pacquiao has also been just as confident that God will help him defeat Mayweather.
"The Lord, my God that I am serving will deliver him into my hands," Pacquiao said on Twitter.

Re: Floyd Mayweather JR / Manny Pacquiao - NEWS STREAM -
From the BBC Sport Website , part of Floyd's press conference yesterday. "Mayweather also reiterated his intention to retire after one more fight in September, even though two more victories would leave him equal with heavyweight legend Rocky Marciano's 49-fight unbeaten record.
"People ask me about Rocky Marciano's record but it's time for me to walk away. And I won't miss boxing," said Mayweather.
"The money is more important than any unbeaten record - my daughters can't eat no 'zero'.
"Getting to 50 fights unbeaten might be special for you, but for me it's not."
I said exactly this a long time ago, he ain't worried about the 50-0, he just wants to known as the best ever and he believes that this fight followed by one last major statement does it. Floyd will beat Pac, and then in September, do not be surprised to see him bow out with a major test against GGG at LMW! It's the only thing he can do that will top the Pac fight. either that or if something controversial happens, a Pac rematch.
