Now after the fight, Team Hatton still in panic mode and don't know what will be the right excuse or just say no excuses;
Mayweather Sr: "Ricky lost since he has another trainer"
Ray Hatton: "That wasn't Ricky in that ring" (Hmmnn... could it be Matthew?? )
Lee Beard: "No excuses, It's the same Ricky..."
“We knew how fast he was and he was a puncher but Manny was so strong mentally and refused to let Ricky get the upper hand. Even when Ricky tried to force his size on Manny, he would stand his ground and trade then use his speed to keep one step in front of Ricky. Nobody has done that to Ricky. What Manny did, even Floyd Jr. in the first 5 to 6 rounds had nightmares with Ricky and Ricky was fighting in the same way against Manny but was unable to get to him as he did with Floyd. Manny was very dominant,” Lee Beard said.

I think I've heard something similar before and it goes like this:
"It wasn't me that night..." by Barrera after losing to PAC 1st fight
;D
I think its more funny to hear someone blame his one-sided loss to a pair of socks. I don't think anybody has ever used that excuse before:D.
One-sided loss?? Wake up, it was a draw...
At least cheap socks and blisters are real unlike the fantasy excuses of "it wasn't me fighting"...;D I hope the referee will ask their true identity before the start of their next fight...;D

Poor old Hatton, a real shame that this was how it all ended. This fight and Khan/Barrera have probably damaged me psychologically.

The Mayweather fight was the one that totally gutted me.... The hopes were so high for him to win, and I really thought that he could impose himself enough to take enough rounds off Mayweather... In retrospect he probably did a better job than I really expected.
But seeing Mayweather start to get the better of him and the knock down was heart breaking...
What made Hatton so good to rise to the top was his tenacity and the real edge to his step which kept him sharp... He just didn't have that after Mayweather and the Pac fight was just really sad... In a way it's probably okay that he went down when he did and stayed down, because he would have got his exposed head battered for as long as he was standing..

Yes, the Mayweather fight was a tough pill to swallow too. Hatton is frustrating because he simply refused to stay in any kind of shape between fights. You never see someone like Froch or Haye ballooning up, so it makes you wonder if Hatton could have just done that bit more had he looked after himself a bit better. I remember in the Pac pre fight stuff how fat Hatton was compared with Pac. It seemed half the camp was geared towards dieting and then the other half the actual technical side of things. Mayweather clearly took something from Hatton, but he was his own worst enemy too. I clinged onto the hope that he would be big enough to handle Pac, but Hatton was just overwhelmed. Losing in such a way was extremely upsetting. It was just the wrong way to lose a fight and of course nothing heard from Hatton ever again. I guess that's boxing. :-\

I don't think it was any help what so ever to have a Mayweather training him for the Pac fight... He may have felt things had gone downhill with Billy Graham,,, but no one can really say that Graham didn't get the best out of him.. And maybe like you said if his diet and lifestyle was better in between fights, he could have done better against Floyd...
He just looked like an amateur against Pac.. Completely throwing away that boxing book and expecting his weight and heavy handedness, especially to the body, to win over the smaller fighter.... But we have since learnt Pac isn't afraid of the extra size at all (Cotto for one I think was physically stonger than Hatton)...
Hatton needed to bring in all the technical skills he had utilized throughout his career, and for some reason taking on a trainer who is dedicated to technicality, did the complete opposite for him...
Maybe he just wanted to prove his toughness after being overwhelmed by Mayweather, and totally disregarded that even the toughest fighters need to be technically sound to an extent... Otherwise they are going down...
This was definitely the coming out fight for Pac though at the higher weights... Only a serious fool wouldn't take a fight with Pac very seriously after he showed his power is as, or more, devastating at this higher weight..
