I'm about to watch Split. I'll get back about it later.

re: last movie you watched (Flag Up SPOILERS)
Do we have a TV Show thread? I'm loving Legion at the moment 2 eps in and it's a trip.

Re: last movie you watched (Flag Up SPOILERS)
The Accountant - I put off watching this as I read it had a confusing plot with hard to follow twists. Eh...what? Don't know where the fuck I read that, it's just a good ole fashion action flick with standard twists and Ben Affleck as a cross between Terminator-Rainman. Never thought about binning it though, decent time-killer.
Split - The actor doing multiple different characters was more entertaining than the boring "horror" story. Nice twist at the end that linked to another of this directors films. That bit did make me sit up and go "ooohh, nice," because I really like the film it linked too.
Passengers - as far as sci-fi go this was beyond boring. Just a love film in space about a weirdo that pervs over a bird for a year then decides to torture her to death by living with him until they snuff it whilst everyone else is snugly a kip on a trip to paradise.

I really enjoyed The Accountant. Split was alright if you like Shyamalan movies. Does this mean we get a sequel to that earlier movie? Bruce vs the beast? Passengers did drag on a bit. Did they really need a cameo from Fishburne?

Re: last movie you watched (Flag Up SPOILERS)
The Accountant was ok, nothing special but an enjoyable watch, the little twist at the end was predictable, nothing new but still an ok film.
I'm just watching Don't Hang Up at the minute, a truly terrible horror film which is basically Saw + telephone and internet.
-
Re: last movie you watched (Flag Up SPOILERS)
I just finished Assassin's Creed. It was well done and kept me entertained. The ending left it open for the usual sequel.
-
Re: last movie you watched (Flag Up SPOILERS)
Passengers definitely needed the Fishburne cameo, without him they wouldn't have known the ship was funked which justified the weirdo perverts decision to open her pod (as she would have snuffed it without knowing anyway) and gain redemption by saving everyone.

Re: last movie you watched (Flag Up SPOILERS)
National Lampoons Vacation.
I love Beverley D'Angelo, I'd let her poo on me. These films age really badly. Whats a bit of casual racism/paedophilia amongst friends.

The role was essential to the plot but it seemed they wanted to pad the movie with stars to sell it.

Been on a comics kick lately and finally caught up on Avengers. Sat down for Guardians of the Galaxy with the nephews finally and then power went out :p. Redo on Sunday. Started Agents of Shield on Netflix but early on and more tv stuff.

Have you seen Daredevil (the TV show), Jessica Jones & Luke Cage? Ironfist will be next.

Re: last movie you watched (Flag Up SPOILERS)
'Gotham' is a great series. 'Daredevil' is an excellent series, I hope 'The Punisher' series is good.
I've checked out 'Sin City: A Dame To Kill For' but haven't finished it yet. I really enjoyed the storytelling in the original 'Sin City' and I think that really set the table for the shows we see now. I haven't checked out 'The Spirit' yet either but it's done in the 'Sin City' style....I really wish Frank Miller would do 'The Shadow' because he has a knack for everything to do with that genre and that era.

Gotham is ok but the seasons are too long. The Punisher should be alright as he was pretty good on Daredevil. A Dame to kill for just didn't have that appeal of the 1st Sin City. I haven't read a comic for awhile but I used to love what Image were doing.

Gotham would be better on Netflix where it could have more of everything it already offers. I wasn't much of a comic book reader, but what I did read I enjoyed. I just never read comics in a sequential manner. I enjoy the cinematography of movies like Sin City and shows like Daredevil.

I like that Gotham touches on many of Batman's rivals or associates as they started out. Scott Snyder did the Batman reboot with DCs New 52 and I like that they included the Court of the owls story line in the show that he introduced.
Movies:
I watched Headshot last night. Iko Uwais (the guy from The Raid 1 & 2) is the lead in this. If you liked those movies (and who doesn't?) you will like this.

Re: last movie you watched (Flag Up SPOILERS)
XXX return of Xander Cage. Lots of big names in the cast. Entertaining action movie. Nice to see Tony Jaa & Donnie Yen on the screen together.

My youngest was watching 'Sing' a few weeks ago. OMG there was so much singing (obviously) but geez even she was struggling. Neither of my kids really got into Zootopia. They enjoyed Jungle Book. I haven't sat down to watch that yet. A really good family movie was Pete's Dragon. The missus was a bit teary at times during that one.

Jungle book is a bit scary in places for kids.
Zootropolis is telling a story about being respectful, mindful and tolerant about one another. The sloth scene is classic.
Will check out Pete's dragon, the last movie to bring a tear was Toy Story 3. :)

Re: last movie you watched (Flag Up SPOILERS)
Toy Story 3 is brilliant. That one really shreds me up. It's a very sad film.
I rewatched The Lion King yesterday and that one always makes me shed a tear too. I think it is one of the greatest films ever made. The scene where Simba's dad dies is heartbreaking. The way the choir and strings build, and Simba finds himself alone in the world is incredibly moving. He is now an outcast forced to live a life in the wilderness and all that seemed so real and sure in his world is destroyed. He blames himself for it all, but of course it wasn't his fault. His identity is lost and he drifts along with a bunch of fellow outcasts. It is as epic as any Shakespeare really. With nothing to lose he returns to challenge Scar and redeem himself, for no young lion can run away forever. You know in your heart of hearts what is right and the revolution has to happen.

Re: last movie you watched (Flag Up SPOILERS)
I don't get it me with the lion king
I don't think the sadness is well delivered at all
I'm not a hard ass bastard or anything when it comes to things like that, but that film just doesn't have it
in fact I think its an overrated film in general, having kids I have watched a lot of animated films and I don't think id put the lion king in my top 100
and the music is shit, nothing on the dumbo or jungle book sound track
-
Re: last movie you watched (Flag Up SPOILERS)
For me it's part of Disney's golden period of Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin and then the epic Lion King. It's sublime with the music, score, and overall structure. It's a great movie. One of the best.
-
Re: last movie you watched (Flag Up SPOILERS)
what kind of music do you listen to?
-
Re: last movie you watched (Flag Up SPOILERS)
Joy Division, Bowie, Reed, Pulp, Suede, Grandaddy, Nyman. All sorts except people of colour. :)
-
Re: last movie you watched (Flag Up SPOILERS)
Just watched split, a good solid film, McAvoy is brilliant in it.
I'm just watching unbreakable now...those who have watched split will know why.

Re: last movie you watched (Flag Up SPOILERS)
Warcraft the beginning was really good with excellent special effects.
Martian was good too with the songs and funny lines.

Re: last movie you watched (Flag Up SPOILERS)
Watched Sausage Party last night. Bizarrely entertaining but the voice acting in animations can ruin it at times if you know who it is.

I watch one or two films a year. Watched it at a friends on my stepson's recommendation. (Loved the voice acting, the Woody Allen type character and the Arab guy but I don't know them in other films). Thought all the way through how are they going to keep escalating this ? But the end had me in tears. Funniest thing in years and I wasn't even drinking ;D

Saw this earlier, it'll never be a patch on the original and it was only pennywise that made that watchable.
The only hope they have got is if they make it more like the book but in today's world I reckon that would come across pretty comical.
I'm going to re-read the book soon, I've been meaning to do it for a while but the new film has have me a bit of incentive to actually do it.
As long as it stays away from the ending out of the book though, One of the worst endings I've ever read that was.
Oh they float georgie, they all float.
