I know a lot through the media and from people, but what it all really means I am not sure. In the film the woman has 2 kids with different Dad's, both losers. I mean that's the one part of me that gets upset. Don't go out with an arsehole, it's surely not that difficult, but to repeat the mistakes. Well, it gets harder to have sympathy. It's the kids you care about as they had no choice in any of it. I'm a broken record, but don't have those kids if you really care. At least wait until you have a situation that might well work. It's just never fair on the kids. Never.
Daniel was the one you really felt sorry for as he made no mistakes and didn't exactly choose to have a heart attack. The chap should have been on some kind of temporary disability from the off.
It's a tough one. In some ways the UK has it cushty. I got my bill for my MRI this week, that's 400 pounds out of pocket that my private insurance doesn't cover. Wouldn't happen in the UK. In some ways the Brits are having it rough too, but it's rougher here. Temporary support if you lose your job, but good luck single Mums, and if you are sick, cough up. People tend to stay in jobs they hate, have less children and avoid hospital if they can.
I binged watched a whole season of a show called the ozarks on Netflix. It's about a dude in an investment firm who found out his firm was stealing money for an investment firm. He high tailed it to the ozarks but had to deal with them anyway. Interesting series
Boyka Undisputed, fun for any fan of the series. Adkins is the man.
Wakefield, a different take on the mid life crisis. Bryan Cranston is always good. Ending was dumb. Wanted to see how that played out.
Shot Caller, a little slow but decent story. Nikolaj Coster-Waldau is a very versatile actor.
Jurassic World. I liked it. :bag:
Dr Strange was funny and a good film surprisingly as I do not like his comic character.
A new Death Wish movie?!?!

.....awwwww damnit there goes my suspension of disbelief, he (Bruce Willis/The Vigilante) legally buys a gun in Chicago
Bruce Willis typecast to shooting and action films since 1980's.
It ain't death wish without @Andre :andre::andre:

Rouge One finally, meh. Spent the first 30 minutes asking "where the hell is everyone" ;D
I watched a movie called Random Harvest on turner classics. It was filmed in England in the 40's. It's about an English soldier in ww1 that loses his memory in the trenches and is brought back to health by an English show girl only to lose his memory again but in the end he gets it back again. Yes it's a romance but it's an excellent film. I highly recommend it if any of you enjoy the old classics like I do. Saw Hitchcocks Frenzy as well didn't like it as much as I like most of his movies.
watched the new Dunkirk film last night. It was good, never let up on action and was very atmospheric. Good film.
So The Dark Tower has flopped, who'd a thunk it.
I read the first 4 or 5 of the books and just couldn't picture it as a film, it just wouldn't translate to the big screen, looks like I was correct, it's got something like 16% on rotten tomatoes after the opening weekend
Watched guardians of the galaxy vol 2 earlier
I actually laughed out loud at "I'M MARY POPPINS Y'ALL" fucking brilliant that was.
Film was decent not as good as the first but still good fun
It's not a movie but finally watched all seasons and caught up in Agents Of Shield. Why does it seem most of the good 'characters' leave that show? Mack is just a big surly grumpy pants who drains life out of every scene ;D. Might watch Doctor Strange next.
It's pretty good. Some nice humor too.
I think that is why Marvel films are doing better than DC, they have genuinely funny and memorable moments remember Quicksilver in X Men savings the lives of people to Eurhythmics music or Spiderman's appearance in Avengers Civil War?
The one liners particularly from Robert Downey Junior as Iron Man are brilliant.
I went to watch 'It' yesterday
I really enjoyed it but it wasn't without its problems
Whilst the kids were all brilliant it was clear that Bill, Richie and Beverly were the main characters and the others really suffered from this
Unless you had read or watched the book or the mini series I doubt if you would even know Stan or Mikes names after watching the new version.
In the book Henry Bowers was almost the main protagonist and It or Pennywise almost played second fiddle to Henry, Henry was massively underused in this version.
The way that the losers all so blatantly fall in love with Beverley at first site just felt wrong and completely out of touch with the book, in the book they all find themselves lusting after her without actually realizing it, and that was a big part of the book, Ben was openly infatuated with her and he was aware that she was attracted to Bill and he accepted this, I thought this was lacking massively and the film suffered a little for it, it may be because I have read the book and that was a pretty big aspect of it, maybe I'm just being picky I don't know.
Having said that Richie was brilliantly played, he was genuinely laugh out loud funny (although I did miss the 'beep beep Richie' I would have been nice if they would have included that
I thought that it was all a little easy for the kids as well, I never got the feeling that they actually felt threatened at any time.
I would have actually preferred it if the story alternated between the adults and the kids, they will struggle to gain as much anticipation for a version that focuses solely on the adults and I think it would have helped them expand on the characters a little.
Also a few little tweaks annoyed me, in the book and the miniseries it was Mike who delved into Derry's history and uncovered the darkness that surrounds the whole town and I'm pretty sure that it was actually Stan who put forward the idea of the swearing a blood oath, these are only little things but I think that it overpowers certain characters and almost makes other redundant.
On the flip side though I thought that Pennywise was brilliant, he was a lot more faithful to the book than Tim Curry's interpretation was, he was truly menacing.
Watched a couple lately:
47 meters below, pretty good shark film. Terrifying at times.
Baby driver, some awesome car chase scenes and an excellent soundtrack.
I watced Alien Convenient a while back. Pretty good. Much better than Prometheus.
All eyes on me, uncanny how much he looks like Tupac.
Baywatch, terrible, just terrible.
Boyka undisputed, loved it but I'm a fan of the series.
Chuck, pretty good movie base on Chuck Wepner.
I rarely watch movies, i do not remember last movie I watched but my favorite movie is "Muay Thai Fighter" (2007)
Summaries:
Lifelong friends learn the traditional techniques and skills of Muay Thai Fighting that has been past down from generations. When their training camp is shut down they begin to fight underground and bring the art of Muay Thai Fighting back to life. The fighting in the ring parallels the fight for their life, when the ultimate, highly anticipated, action filled fight demonstrates to be their biggest challenge they are prepared to die for one another.
Fantastic beast and where to find them was very poor.
Rogue One too long and boring
Passenger a waste of time
Bubba Ho-Tep (again)....great movie.....Living in a dilapidated rest home, Elvis (played by Bruce Campbell) and Black JFK (played by Ossie Davis) fight an evil soul sucking mummy to save the old folks residing in that rest home. Solid goofy comedy
LOL, I would imagine that it would have because the move spent a good deal of time on that too.
I've already started my Halloween themed movies in my Netflix queue...we had 'Child's Play' not all that long ago. Holy shit that's a train wreck of a movie.... I mean it's enjoyable which is exactly what I'm looking for, properly done schlock, but hold crap 'Child's Play' is a silly movie. It certainly fits in with the 'Nightmare on Elm Street' & 'Friday The 13th' & 'Halloween' & 'Sleepaway Camp' type movies.
I'm really excited about the movies in my queue though, next up is 'Scouts Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse' which looks incredible.
'Scouts Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse' hilarious movie here's the trailer

baby driver - brilliant
Have been watching Ken Burns The Vietnam war series and really surprised at the depth and big picture background. It gives The Ten Thousand day war released in the early 80's a solid run.
Sully was a good film and nice touch at the end when they showed the real pilot and survivors. Tom Hanks stars in this portrait of airline pilot Chesley "Sully" Sullenberger, which depicts his successful emergency landing of an aeroplane on the Hudson River in January 2009.
Orson Welles in 'The Third Man' brilliant film, BRILLIANT beautifully shot film noir, interesting location and time, playful little soundtrack as done by Anton Karas on the zither....yes, the fucking ZITHER. Watching the first half I was thinking "This movie could actually be remade" then at the end of the film I was thinking "There's no fucking way this could ever or should ever be remade!"....Orson Welles is a fucking legend.
I rather like the style Ken Burns has for his documentaries....however I do notice a slant in his delivery, but then again I would notice that. I really enjoyed Prohibition, The West, Baseball, Jazz, The War, and The National Parks: America's Greatest Idea...The Roosevelts and Cancer The Emperor of All Maladies are in my queue.
Next up in the queue is 1980's classic 'BasketCase'...I'm early preparing for Halloween
Watched the Accountant which was good action packed and well told but a bit contrived.
I have a few days away soon and have a nice 1080p version of this to watch on the way there and back. I'm really looking forward to it. I don't think they're going to show it on English TV.
The last movie I watched was an Italian mafia movie called Suburra. It was better than I expected it to be. There's a Netflix series called Suburra released next month so I thought I'd check the movie out. It's made by the same people who made the Gomorra TV series which I'd recommend to people. There are plenty of subtitled versions available legally and illegally. It's an Italian mafia show. You get a look at another culture, it's got grimy locations, horrific interior decor, loads of violence and it's really well made. Highly recommended.
